* Police Operatives attached to the Ekwulobia Divisional Police Station has arrested Mr. Nnamdi Anyaji, aged 49 years of Amudo Village, Ekwulobia who attempted to take his own life after killing his mother Mrs Dorathy Anyaji of the same address aged 68 years.
The Operatives also recovered one Axe at the scene.

Anambra State Command, preliminary information reveals that the squabble started when the suspect accused the deceased of being dishonest about the money realised from a cassava business.
The suspect is in custody and under close monitoring so as not to commit suicide and would be charged to court after the investigation.
* The Chairman of the Anambra Football Association, General Chikelue Iloenyosi has described the death of former coach of the Nigerian national football team, Mr Christian Chukwuemeka Chukwu as a true football legend.
Iloenyosi, who played under the late Coach, expressed happiness that he visited Chukwu before he died.
The Anambra FA boss extolled Chukwu’s qualities as a player and hoped that the younger generation of footballers would learn from his dedication to, and passion, for the game in order to become great footballers themselves.
* Anambra State government has been urged to constitute an ad-hoc panel to investigate the activities of the Chairman of Ekwusigo local government area of the state.
The Anambra State House of Assembly made the resolution during plenary where it sat to consider several reports presented before it by the Committee on Public Petitions.
The resolution followed a petition titled Complaint against the Chairman Local Government service Commission Awka and the Chairman Ekwusigo local government area over victimization, lack of fair hearing and illegal imposition of indefinite suspension from office.
* Police Operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad Enugu-Ukwu acting on credible information raided a criminal drugs camp at Umuokpala Village in Orumba North LGA, arrested 12 suspects selling and taking hard drugs, recovered some sizeable quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, illicit drugs and other implicating items.
The suspects are: Ifeanyi Bernard, Emmanuel Ugwu, Thankgod Kelechi, Umeh Chidera, Aguiyi Onyeka, Onyeka Martin, Festus Ihezie, Chibundu Nicholas, Solomon Obiefule, Chibundu Daniel, Neke Shedrack and Nwazufu Kingsley all males and within the age bracket of 20 – 29 years.
They have been handed over to Operatives of Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for necessary action.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has mourned the passing of Mr. Christian Chukwu, a distinguished football icon and a true patriot.
In his condolence message, Governor Soludo stated that Mr. Christian Chukwu’s name is etched in the annals of Nigerian football history and his contributions to the development of the sport in our nation are immeasurable, leading the national team in winning the Nations Cup (AFCON) in 1980

* Police Operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad Enugu-Ukwu responded swiftly at the scene of a shooting incident in Ukwulu and prevented the situation from escalating further.
The Operatives rescued a victim with a gunshot injury, recovered one AK47 rifle, one pistol, and six (6) rounds of live ammunition.
According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, two suspects were also arrested at the scene.
* The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Anambra State has assured the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission ( ICPC) of increased collaboration in its vigorous corruption – fighting efforts.
The NSCDC Anambra State Command boss, Commandant Maku Olatunde,
stated this when the Resident Anti – Corruption Commissioner( RACC) Anambra State, Mr. Maknath Osi led a delegation of his management team on a familiarization visit to the NSCDC State Command Headquarters in Awka.
Maku in his speech, expressed concern that corruption poses a serious threat to national security, undermining the nation’s stability, prosperity, and sovereignty.
He assured that the NSCDC, as a reputable paramilitary agency of the Federal Government is committed to providing the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) with necessary support to fulfill its mandate.
