* Members of Old Boys Association of Comprehensive Science and Technical School Nawfia in diaspora have completed drilling of borehole for the school. Speaking on the development, the Principal of the school Venerable Clement Mgbemena appreciated the old boys for touching the very heart beat of the students which is easy access water.
Mgbemena also thanked them for the solar energy they installed to power the bore hole, and the renovation of the school kitchen which he said needs total over haul, appealing to them to look into fencing of the school and the boarding school.
* The acting Vice Chancellor, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, has charged the newly appointed Heads of Departments (HoDs) to be determined to aggressively pursue excellence for the growth and development of the University.
Prof Omenugha announced the appointments, whom she referred to as Team 3vs, while declaring open a two-day capacity building programme for the varsity staff, held at the school auditurium Igbariam campus. The team 3vs, as she explained, involves the Deans, Directors, and Heads of Departments explaining that the 3vs are Values, Viability, and Visibility.
* Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has expressed his heartfelt gratitude and admiration towards all mothers. Soludo in his goodwill message on Mother’s Day, eulogized mothers as the bedrock of the society
Soludo acknowledged the hard work, sacrifices, and love that mothers give to their children, families and the society, making it possible for them to grow, thrive, and succeed.
* Ongoing construction of Oyolu-Oze Road, Nkwelle-Ezunaka, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra which was abandoned by various successive administrations in the State which is currently receiving attention by the present government has been applauded by the President-General, Nkwelle-Ezunaka community,Ogbuefi Willy Okafor. The road construction which will end at Chipet Filling Station, Oyolu-Oze,3-3, Nkwelle-Ezunaka near Onitsha is expected to open up the hinterland of Nkwelle-Ezunaka and serve as an easy route for motorists and travellers within Enugu/ Onitsha Express Road area.
* Atani Community in Ogbaru local government area on Saturday hosted two of its illustrious sons, Anambra State House of Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze and the Commissioner For Information Sir. Paul Nwosu in a homecoming ceremony. The event which was held at the central school Atani, attracted Anambra Assembly lawmakers, Traditional Rulers, President Generals, Commerssioners, Transition Committee Chairmen, Religious Leaders, Political Appointees amongst others. In his speech, Anambra Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze appreciated ndi Atani and Ogbaru two constituency for their support all through his political journey.
* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has felicitated the family of the Archbishop, Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim as they gave out their first daughter, Dr Ozioma’s hand in marriage to her heartthrob, Dr Chukwudi Nmuoto. Soludo who congratulated the new couple on their new status, expressed optimism that the union will be an example to many and will stand the test of time. The Governor used the opportunity to call on the Igbo to give full Igbo names to their children as a way of sustaining and promoting their rich culture and tradition, disclosing that his six children only bear Igbo names without English attached.
* Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, through the Alumni conferred awards of recognition on prominent Nigerians who were their academic products on the occasion of the Maiden Alumni Converge held at the ASUU-NAU Secretariat. The recognitions in form of awards were bestowed upon personalities such the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial Zone, Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah; House of Representatives Member for Awka North and South Federal Constituency, Prof. Oby Lilian Orogbu; Senator Uche Lilian Ekwunife (Iyom); UNIZIK Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone, FAS, and immediate past Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, FAS, for their outstanding contributions to the University and humanity at large.
* In order to avert imminent deaths and casualties, two four storey buildings have been marked for demolition at Amobi street in Onitsha South local government area. One of the buildings had earlier had it’s decked potions collapse following poor and use of sub standard materials for the project. The two buildings which are located about one foot close to each other are currently witnessing cracked pillars and weak decking a development that led to the order for demolition.
* What could be better described as danger is currently looming in Akwaihedi community in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, as school children in the community risk their lives while crossing a deep river to attend school. This is coming as Ugwa Uhualauzi River Bridge got submerged by the river, leaving only the bridge rails above the water level. Announcing this in a video currently trending on the social media, the President-General of the community, Chief Oliver Mba, said the bridge was a self-help project constructed around 1971 by the community members.
* Rotary Action Group for Peace Nigeria Chapter, has described the Anambra State Commissioner of Police CP, Aderemi Adeoye as an epitome of patriotism and civility, whose relentless services to humanity is second to non. The National Chairman, Rtn Pietro Uzochukwu macleo made the remark during the group’s courtesy visit to the commissioner’s office at Police Command, Amawbia.
Speaking during the congratulatory message, Rtn Pietro represented by the Assistance Public spokesperson, Rtn Uchenna Ezeani noted that CP Adeoye is “an epitome of of patriotism and civility, an icon worthy of emulation by generations of public servants. Your years of service are notable with histories, evidences and accounts of gallantry,,courage and grandeur, and your life is selflessness transcends and precedes you across states of federation”
