* The Deputy Governor of Anambra state, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim has asked youth leaders in the state to form waste management task-force in their various communities as a way to assist the Soludo government in actualizing the targeted clean and healthy state.  Ibezim gave the mandate during a meeting with youth leaders from across the state at the Government House, Awka. Dr Ibezim who described the youths as the backbone of every society, said that the Professor Chukwuma Soludo administration will keep partnering them for all round progress and development of the state.

* Holy Ghost Academy, Amaokpala in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State will roll out its drums for its annual fiesta school feast and parents day celebration today Saturday April 1st 2023. The event is expected to draw guests like the Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese, His Eminence, Peter Ebere Cardinal Okpalaeke, the Provincial Superior of the Holy Ghost Fathers and Brothers, Province of Nigeria, South-East and proprietor of the school, Rev. Fr. Austin Nwosu, CSSp, Old Boys Association of Holy Ghost Academy, members of the academia, politicians, community leaders among other dignitaries.

* Resident Electoral Commission (REC) Anambra State, Mrs Queen Agwu, on Friday barred journalists from covering presentation of certificate of return to House Members.

Journalists, who were at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Friday morning, were turned back on the order of REC from covering the event. The acting Public Relations Officer of INEC, Dr Kingsley Agu, in a phone call hinted that the REC would not entertain journalists on the day of certificate presentation. According to him, the REC had instructed him not allow journalists into the premises during the presentation.

* The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili North Local Government Area, Mr ChuksBrown Igboanua has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the quality of roads his administration is constructing in the state. Mr Igboanua who made this known while speaking to newsmen in his office at Ogidi, said that the quality of roads being built by the Soludo administration is unrivaled. He commended the governor for his all-inclusive development of the state, as every local government has a touch of Soludo’s quality roads, either under construction or completed.

* The Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh has constituted a Board of Enquiry to investigate allegation of examination malpractice, against Supervisors and Invigilators at the Umuogali Community School, Oba during the last Transition Placement Examination held on March 29.

Following a report that answers which turned out to be wrong were called out for the candidates at the school during the examination, Commissioner Chuma-Udeh has directed for another examination to be set for the 215 candidates who took the examination in the centre. A team from the Ministry of Education led by the Commissioner will personally supervise and invigilate the examination.

* Residence Electoral Commissioner (REC), Anambra State Dr. Queen Elizabeth Agwu on Friday March 31st 2023 issued certificate of return to the 30 Anambra State House of Assembly members-elect at the Independent Nàtional Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters Awka the capital of Anambra State. ANN reports that Dr. Agwu while addressing the elected Anambra lawmakers urged them to keep to their campaign promises, stating that they will be remembered by their good works after office.

* * The plans of raising 1000 young millionaires and creating 130,000 private sector jobs annually by the Soludo led administration has continued to wax strong as the state through the Ministry of Youth Development conclude training of Entrepreneurship Development Institute in Awka.

The graduates of the Entrepreneurship Development Institute are those who will champion the entrepreneural stage of the One Youth Two Skills Entrepreneurship Scheme to ensure the purpose of the initiative is maximized. The two day training was organized by the state Ministry of Youth Development in partnership with Unizik Business School.

* The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Anambra State Council, has condemned what it called the unwholesome and repulsive attitude of the Public Relations Officer( PRO) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Anambra State, Kingsley Agu. As a consequence, the journalists have petitioned the Anambra Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Queen Elizabeth Agwu and the Federal Commissioner Information and Voter Education INEC, Abuja, Festus Okoye, to call Agu to order. The petition signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Correspondents’Chapel, Chief Chuks Ilozue and Mrs Tochukwu Ifejika, respectively was copied to the President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ), Comrade Chris Isiguzo and Anambra State Chairman of the Union, Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu. The petitioners frowned at the frequent attacks and insults on journalists in the state by the PRO, Kingsley Agu.

* Motorists in Anambra have been enjoined to as a matter of necessity, avail themselves for driver’s test before obtaining the driver’s license. This call was made by the Head of Department, Vehicle Inspection Services, Ministry of Transport, Engr. MacDonald Achuam, during a driver’s test exercise at the Awka testing centre. According to Achuam, this test is conducted on applicant drivers to ascertain their level of competence before issuing them with the driver’s license.
