* The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has pledged to partner Nigeria Police and other sister security agencies towards combating insecurity in Anambra State. This was disclosed by Commandant Maku Olatunde, the State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command on Thursday April 18, 2024 at the Police Headquarters, Awka during a familiarization visit to the Anambra State, Commissioner of Police, CP Adeoye Aderemi. Comdt. Maku said the visit to the CP became imperative to further strengthen the working relationship between the two sister agencies in enhancing adequate security of  lives and property of Ndi Anambra.

* The Government of Anambra State will be embarking on the dualization of the Agulu and Nanka Roads. According to a release signed by Sir Paul Nwosu, Anambra Commissioner for Information, though these are federal roads, they are primarily used by Ndi Anambra. 

* The Commissioner for Housing in Anambra State, Hon. Pauly Onyeka, has warned all the four contractors handling the ongoing upgrade of Ekwuweme Square to expedite work or have their contracts terminated. The Commissioner gave the warning after inspecting the project site to ascertain the pace of work. 

Onyeka, while noting the importance of Ekwuweme in hosting government functions, maintained that government cannot afford to allow the upgrade of the square to last longer than necessary.

* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has described Alumni Associations as veritable instruments for the growth and development of their various Institutions.

Speaking when the National Executive Officers of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Alumni Association paid him a courtesy call in his office, Udeze thanked them for acknowledging the good work Governor Chukwuma Soludo is doing in the state in terms of development and wellbeing of the citizenry and for their promise to give the Governor the necessary support. The Speaker who is an Alumnus of the University, encouraged them to make a mark in the University by watching over the Institution and liaising with the school management for optimal development.

* The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, Dr. Nelson Omenugha, has received in visit from a delegation from the Solar Hands-on Training and International Network of Exchange – SHINE, a capacity-building project sponsored by the European Union Commission. The delegation to Omenugha in his office at the Government House of Anambra State was led by Rev. Father Christopher Anso, the director of Jobitech.

* Comrade Michael Onyekwelu has emerge Chairmen Anambra Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN).

Onyekwelu before his emergence, was the Deputy Chairman, Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN), Anambra State Chapter. Onyekwelu, ascended to the seat of acting Chairman of the  association in Anambra State, following the official resignation of the immediate past Chairman of the association, Barrister  Sylvester Obiorah.

* Major stakeholders in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State has called for peaceful coexistence among the residents of Awka. The call was made after an urgent meeting involving Major stakeholders in Awka to find lasting solution to crimes and gun violence in Awka. Addressing newsmen shortly after the meeting, the Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) Mr. Ossy Onuko said the incidence of gun related violence within the State Capital was totally condemnable. 

* Policymakers and stakeholders has come together to engage in a constructive dialogue centered around the findings of the Accessibility Audit conducted by the Anambra State Disability Rights Commission (ASDRC) in collaboration with the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC) Programme Phase II and generously funded

by the European Union and expertly executed by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA).

Mrs Josephine Onah, RoLAC II Project Coordinator in Anambra State, voiced concerns over the persistent discrimination faced by persons with disabilities (PWDs) in accessing government institutions. Despite five years of existing disability laws, public facilities, particularly in ministries and parastatals, remain largely inaccessible to PWDs. Onah emphasized the need for an enabling environment where the disability community can fully interact, work, and enjoy the same freedoms as others. She lamented the barriers that hinder PWDs from accessing essential services, such as the Ministries of Health ,Justice, Education, due to inadequate inclusivity.
