* The National Woman leader of Anambra Demand Soludo (ADS) Mrs Esther Onyekesi has called on the private sector and individuals in Anambra State to partner the government of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in his efforts to transform Anambra into a livable and prosperous homeland. Speaking in Awka recently, Mrs Onyekesi, who described Professor Soludo as a Governor who has a clear vision and mission for Anambra State, called on the people to continue with their support and prayers to enable him achieve his mandate.

* Comrade Emma Okereke of Ohukabia village, Nawfija polled the maximum votes of the delegates from the four villages that make up Nawfija to defeat Chika Onyeagba in the youths’ general election held recently at Nawfija Town Hall. The election which was presided by representatives of Anambra State Association of Town Union (ASATU) was reportedly a peaceful one, as Nawfija youths expressed solidarity for their newly elected leader.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has described manufacturers as key partners in development. Speaking at Onitsha during a town hall meeting with members of the Manufacturers of Association Nigeria MAN recently, Governor Soludo maintained that with a sizable urban population, the future of Anambra State lies on industrialization and manufacturing. He added that his administration was committed to following the path.

* The National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates) Onitsha Chapter has donated waste disposal bin materials to Ogboye Market, Onitsha aimed at keeping the market clean. Mr Emeka Uwaeche, President NAS Onitsha said that they saw a need to provide waste disposable materials like waste bins, packers and brushes to the markets because of the littering of dirts and wastes on the drainages and roadside by the market people.

* Anambra State Executive Council has approved the creation of a Bureau for Missing Persons in the Ministry of Justice. According to a release signed by the State Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu, the establishment of the Bureau was part of the interim recommendation earlier made by the Truth, Justice and Peace Commission in its Inception Report earlier submitted to Governor Chukwuma Soludo State in February. The release explained that the job of the Bureau was to trace cases of missing persons and generate the needed database to support police investigations and eventual prosecution of suspects by the Ministry of Justice.

* Officials of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority have demolished a two storey building constructed illegally on the property belonging to Awka Catholic Diocese at Isuaniocha in Awka North Local Government Area. Speaking during the exercise, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, Mr. Ossy Onuko said the demolition was a serious warning to land speculators who fraudulently sell and occupy people’s land without any approval nor documentation. Mr. Onuko maintained that the agency has intensified supervision across all the nooks and crannies of the capital territory, warning that they would pull down any structure built without approval.

* There is strong indication that the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Dr Uche Ekwunife, may join the All Progressives Congress ( APC), ahead of the 2025 governorship election in Anambra State.

Ekwunife, who is currently in the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP), had changed political parties not less than five times since the return of democracy in Nigeria in 1999. She was seen in Imo state where she joined APC leaders from Anambra state on a courtesy visit to Governor Hope Uzodimma.

* Anambra State government has called on members of Mgbakwu Women Union (MWU) to organize a fresh election following insistence by some members of the association that the elected executive should step down.

The state government made the call through the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo when the women group brought the matter to her office in Awka, the state capital.

ANN reports that Mrs Obinabo while urging the women to organize the election as soon as possible, warned that if the election was not properly conducted, her Ministry would appoint new leadership for them.

* Sixty-two graduands of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), have been inducted into the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria. ANN reports. Administering oath on the graduands, the Registrar of Pharmacy Council of Nigeria, Pharmacist Ibrahim Ahmed, represented by Head of Department of Education and Training, Pharmacy Council of Nigeria, Dr. Anthony Idoko, urged the inductees to maintain high ethical conduct and leadership standard as well as endeavor to serve as examples for the achievement of excellence in the provision of quality pharmaceutical services for sustainable healthcare delivery in Nigeria.

* The Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra; OCHA Brigade, has sustained efforts towards decongestion of markets, ending illegal trading activities and revenue collections as well as desilting of drainage systems in different parts of state. In continuation of the enforcement, the Special Task Force team visited some major markets in Onitsha including Ochanja, Ose and Marine markets to remove shanties constructed on drainages and traders conducting their daily transactions on the roads thereby obstructing the free flow of movement around the markets.
