* Anambra State House of Assembly at plenary, solemnly observed a minute of silence to honor the memory of the late confidential secretary of the Acting Clerk of the House, who tragically passed away recently. The 8th Assembly prayed that her soul will rest in peace.

* The children session of St Lawrence Chapel Mass Centre Awka, Anambra State, has held a prayer session for Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah of the All Progressive Congress (APC), ahead of the 2025 governorship election. The session took place at the Church premise during the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor’s Pastoral Visit to the Church. The Children asked God to grand the Senator who is currently the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District all his desires.

* The Anambra State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) Comdt. Maku Olatunde has issued a stern warning to operators of illegal private security outfits in the state, stating that NSCDC as the regulatory body of the Private Security Guards, remains committed to checkmating their activities  especially in the light of the present security challenges. The NSCDC Commandant stated this while parading  eight suspects arrested in a recent crackdown on unlicensed private security guards in Awka. According to him, the arrests  were made in response to intelligence reports and the need to sanitize the security industry allowing only licensed and reputable private  security companies to operate in the state. 

* Anambra State Government through the State Ministry of Health has inaugurated stakeholders on food safety hygiene, water and sanitation. Commissioner for Health Anambra; Dr. Afam Ben Obidike said that so much concerned about health of the public, and that is why it became necessary to inaugurate the stakeholders in the State. According to him, it is to ensure that Ndi Anambra and other residents of the state eat hygienic food, drink safe and potable water especially in the various healthcare facilities.

* The Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Anambra state Chief Barr Ifeatu Obi-Okoye has said that there was no friction between the party and Governor of Anambra state Prof Chukwuma Soludo. The APGA Chairman stated that the party had been enjoying cordial relationship with the governor and needless crying foul. While reacting to the issue of Mr Govenor’s alledged poor reward system for party faithfuls, and his preference in giving juicy political appointments to majorly non party members, he said “The truth remains that every regime came with it’s peculiarities. Prof Soludo came with a different attitude about empowerment. He felt that time has come for people to get engaged. Mr Govenor wants to ensure that party people, party faithfuls are gainfully employed.

* A total of 500 Anambra farmers are going to benefit from the Co-operative Farmers Scheme sponsored by John Bosco Onunkwo Foundation. The scheme which is distributing fifty seed yams to farmers across the twenty one local government area of Anambra state has commenced the first phase of the program in Aguata local government area.

According to the founder and sponsor of the scheme High Chief John Bosco Onunkwo, the program is aimed at ensuring food security as well as encouraging Anambra farmers in their trade.

* Commissioner for Health Anambra State Dr. Afam Obidike has received the World Health Organisation (WHO) South East Zonal Coordinator; Dr. Chukwumanya Igboekwu, WHO  Anambra- State Coordinator; Dr. Bonos Mohammed and Mr. Ndubuisi Orji. Speaking in his office, the Commissioner said they brainstormed together on how to tackle health related issues in the state.

* A concerned Christian Mother and wife of an archdeacon, Mrs Oby Okonkwo, an anti-advocate of the phenomenon, has not only condemned the ongoing Eze-Nwanyi cult phenomenon in Igbo land, but has also expressed profound pity for the members. She said she is working out a ablueprint for delisting them therefrom and rehabilitating them.

In an interview weekend, Mrs Okonkwo, wife of the Archdeacon of the Oyi Archdeaconry, Anglican Diocese on the Niger, Anambra State, regretted the upsurge of the said Eze-Nwanyi cult.

* Wife of the abducted Labour Party LP governorship candidate during the 2021 Anambra State governorship election, Obiora Agbasimalo, Mrs Eucharia Agbasimalo is seeking explanations into alleged “VIP treatments” given to the two suspects who have been in custody over the abduction of her husband. In a petition to the state Controller of Correctional Services, Anambra correctional centre made available to journalists on Monday, Agbasimalo said that the suspects who were behind her husband’s “mysterious disappearance were now being given Very Important Persons treatment and are visibly living large, even in custody”.
