* Ministry of Culture, Entertainment, and Tourism Anambra State is set to partner with the Centre for Arts, Culture and Humanities (CACH), Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, on its Maiden International Conference themed “Emergent Intercultural Realities in Contemporary Africa”, scheduled to hold in July, this year. The agreement was reached in a meeting held between the Commissioner and members of CACH, UNIZIK in his office at Jerome Udorji Secretariat, Awka.

* The Executive Director Anambra State Internal Revenue Services (AIRS) (Anambra North zone), Dr. Christian Madubuko has commenced a revenue sensitization tour to markets in the state. ANN reports that the tour is aimed at sensitizing the traders on the need for them to pay their levies regularly.

* Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, (ASUBEB) has introduced the Montessori Skills Acquisition Method of Education into the State public Schools education system. ASUBEB designed the Montessori Training Schedule and it was done through six Local Government Education Authorities. According to Chairman of the Board, Dr. Vera Nwadinobi, the implementation has commenced, pointing out that ASUBEB Board and Quality Assurance Department will commence supervision and monitoring from 8th of May, 2023 to ensure that Montessori Method is getting to all Pupils in Anambra State Public Schools.

* The Press Secretary to Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR, of Anambra State , Mr. Christian Aburime has reassured journalists in the state that the Governor will continue to support and accord the media their due recognition in the discharge of their constitutional functions as the fourth estate of the realm. Aburime made this disclosure at an Executive Meeting of the Correspondence Chapel, Anambra Chapter, held in Awka. Mr. Aburime expressed the hope that every assistance due to them will be looked into and subsequently convey to Mr Governor

* Anambra State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has issued flood mitigation measures ahead of the raining season thereby listing ten local governments that are high risk areas. ANN reports that the 2023 seasonal rainfall prediction and annual flood outlook by Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) and Nigerian Hydrological Service Agency (NIHSA) has shown that there will be high rainfall across the country and flood this year.

*  The Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Anambra State Chapter Comrade Humphrey Emeka Nwafor says in the next 16 years, Anambra local government system may no longer have workers as people retire and die. Nwafor bemoaned the fact that the last recruitment exercise in the local government service was done 19 years ago and since then no state government has conducted another recruitment to replace workers who retired or died thereby resulting to dearth of personnel in the local government system.

 * The Anambra State ICT Agency Boss Mr. Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata has applauded Governor Soludo for approving the purchase of 200 latest generation and state-of-the-art computers worth over a hundred million naira for distribution to the State MDAs. He described the Governor’s action as a clear confirmation of his resolve to digitize work processes in Anambra and firmly establish e-governance in the State.

* The Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha Archdiocese, Most Rev Valerian Okeke has commissioned a magnificent multi-million Naira Ultramodern Specialist Hospital erected by the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) at Nkpor, Anambra State. The massive Hospital Complex has 15 different buildings equipped with state of the art gadgets that meet international standards.

* Professor Dennis Aribodor, a public health parasitologist of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, has advised Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo to declare treatment of malaria free for children in all public health facilities in the state.

Aribodor stated that the essence was to ensure that children whom he said were most susceptible to the infection were diagnosed and treated without any costs as most poor families  have resorted to concoctions for treatment of the disease resulting to kidney failures, due to  high cost of malaria drugs. 

* The youngest cow meat dealer in Anambra State, Miss Kosisochukwu Nwako celebrated her new status as a graduate. Popularly known as Ogbuefi Kosisochukwu, the 24-year-old butcher, stormed the Orie Agbor Market in Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area Anambra to celebrate her graduation with her co-butchers, after having wrapped up her final examination. ANN gathered that the young butcher graduated from the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, where she studied.
