* The 2024 Nnewi all secondary schools championship has ended in a grand style after a brilliant performance from over 30 secondary schools in Nnewi. The grand finale witnessed the female category finals between Girls Secondary School, Nnewi and Vision High School which ended two goals to one in favour of Vision High School. It also featured and one all draw third place match in the male category between Nigerian Science and Technical College, Nnewi and Ichi Technical and a penalty shootout that saw Ichi Technical winning the bronze medal. Okongwu Memorial Grammar School recorded a resounding 3:1 victory over Vision High School in the finals of male category to clinch the gold.

* Police Officers in Anambra State have arrested an adult male holding a bag in Awada, Idemili North LGA. The man, on sighting the Police, took to his heels and was chased until he was caught and overpowered. According to a release by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, when the bag was searched it was found to contain an AK-47 Rifle with breech No. 25008266. Search of database has shown that it was not among firearms on charge  to Anambra State Command.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has emphasized the need for politicians and affluent individuals to always use their positions to impact the society positively.

Soludo stated this at ASUU Secretariat, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, during the Public Presentation of “The Voice of a Prophet; a compendium of vintage speeches, by a former Senator that represented Anambra Central Senatorial District, Chief Ben Ndi-Obi. Soludo represented by his Deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim described Senator Ndi-Obi as a visionary and philanthropist per excellence who has immensely contributed to the social, political, and economic development of the Nigerian Nation, noting that his life is a book that should be read by both politicians and young people in today’s society, as his personality reaffirms the saying that there is reward for good works.

* The member representing Njikoka one constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly Hon. Chidiebele Ibemeka has expressed dismay over the pattern of operations by Oil Exploration and Energy Production Company (SEEPCO) in Ogwuikpele community, Ogbaru Local Government Area. Ibemeka who is the House Committee Chairman on Petroleum and Mineral Resources while speaking in an interview after presenting the comprehensive oversight report from the House Committee on Petroleum and Mineral Resources over the alarming issues surrounding the operations of SEEPCO in Ogwuikpele, said the company’s failure to employ at least one Onye Anambra and fulfill any form of corporate social responsibilities despite flourishing business operations is not acceptable.

* The traditional ruler of Abacha ancient kingdom in Idemili North LGA, His Majesty Igwe Godwin Nwabunwanne Odiegwu Oranyelueze says peace, harmony, unity and love are necessary components to achieving progress. Igwe Odiegwu in his speech on Monday April 1st 2024 at the inauguration of Obinwanne age grade, called on all members of Abacha to contribute their quota in making sure that Abacha community moves to greater hights. Patron of Obinwanne age grade, Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Okeke Obata in his address  congratulated the group urging them to be good ambassadors of Abacha community. 

*  The President General (PG) of Awgbu Improvement Union, Mr. Emmanuel Akidi has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the provision of clean, green and portable solar driven water supply to Awgbu community in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State. Mr. Akidi made the commendation during the technical handover of a solar powered water borehole facility at the community secondary school,  Awgbu by a team from Anambra State Ministry of Power and Water Resources, Awka. The P.G thanked the state government for remembering Awgbu community.

He stressed that Governor Soludo’s approach to community development is worthy of emulation while using the opportunity to thank the state government for the appointment of one of their sons as the chief of staff of Anambra State.

* Residents of Anambra State have commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for resuscitating the hitherto moribund Otuocha Water Scheme in Anambra State, after many years of non-functionality. This is coming in keeping of the Governor’s promise to provide potable and accessible water to the people of the State, especially through the resuscitation of the moribund urban, semi-urban and rural water schemes across the state, among other new water facilities to be sited. The Otuocha Regional Water Scheme serves and supplies water to the people of Aguleri, Umueri, and Umuoba Anam communities in Anambra East Local Government Area and its environs.

* Saint James Catholic Parish, Neni and  the Catholic Women’s Organization has immortalized the founder of Tonimas Group of Companies, Late Sir Anthony Enukeme through the inauguration of Anthony Enukeme Group of Schools in Neni. The event commenced with a pontifical mass at the church presided over by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor who was represented by the Education Secretary of the diocese, Very Reverend Father Maximus Okonkwo.

* The Founder and CEO Queen-Tovah Cares Foundation International, Princess Dr. Jessie Ifeoma Udoka-Menuba, has received a Professorship Award from Crown Prince Ministerial College of Bishops having satisfactorily completed the approval course of studies in Mission Development.  She was also installed as the Crown Matron of the great College in recognition of her selfless and humanitarian services in her ministerial call/service on earth, having distinguished herself in the service to the nation and mankind.
