* The people of Ezumeri village in Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Anambra State, were in high spirit over a recent court judgment in relation to the Igweship throne of the community. A long standing dispute has been existing in Oraifite, an autonomous community in Anaedo, following the coronation of American-based medical practitioner, Dr. Dan Udoji, in 2006, after the town’s traditional ruler, Igwe Udoji Udu Ubaka, passed on. This appears to be a relief and a new dawn for the people of Ezumeri who gathered at the home of Chief Obaa Obi Ezumeri to celebrate the landmark court victory.

* Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has constituted the Anambra State Boundary Committee with the Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim as the Chairman. The members of the Committee include: The Attorney General/Commissioner for Justice; Commissioner for Lands; Commissioner for Finance; Commissioner for Local Government; Commissioner for Information; Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning; Surveyor-General; Chairman Council of Traditional Rulers; Anambra North Rep (Igwe Umumbo); Anambra Central Rep (Igwe Ukwulu);  Anambra South Rep (Igwe Enugwu-Umuonyia); Anambra Commissioner of Police; State Director of DSS and Controller of Immigration.

* Three members of a criminal gang of kidnappers have been arrested by joint security operatives in Aguata Council Area of Anambra State. The arrested hoodlums are: Chinonso Offor, a native of Enugu State, a resident of Ekwulọbịa, Hycent Ugwuike, a native of Nsukka, a resident of Onitsha and Samuel Sunday from Akwa-Ibom but resident in Isuochi, Abịa State. After hot gun exchanges with the security operatives, the security operatives also rescued their kidnap victim, who was kidnapped at Neni by Okacha Junction.

* The Managing Director of the Anambra State Oxygen Plant, Mrs. Amaka Arinze has said that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo seeks to reduce under five infant mortalities with regular and constant production of medical oxygen for hospitals across the state. She said the present administration is fighting tooth and nail to make sure Anambra state achieved the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals through the production of medical oxygen to reduce under 5 infant mortalities which rate is about six hundred and twenty-five thousand deaths annually across Nigeria. 

* The Anambra State Government has promised to sustain its partnership with various development partners in the state in order to enhance rapid growth and development of the state. The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike said this when a team from United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF visited the newly renovated and rehabilitated Comprehensive Primary Healthcare Centre, Umueze Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area. Dr. Obidike applauded UNICEF and other development partners in the state for their support to Gov. Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.

* The MD, Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra; Ocha Brigade, Chief Celestine Anere, at Upper Iweka, Obosi, Bridge Head and other parts of Onitsha arrested twenty five persons impersonating government officials on IGR, operating illegal parks, extorting market women, bus, Keke and truck drivers within the Onitsha metropolis. The suspects were arraigned at the command headquarters, Awka and have been charged to court for prosecution. This is one among many arrests that have been made since the commencement of enforcement of the Governor’s directive on touting. 

* Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike said the administration of Gov. Charles Soludo is fully committed to the fight against drug abuse and trafficking. Obidike said the State Government is making a sincere effort to build the Modern Rehabilitation Centre in the state where drug addicts will be rehabilitated and reintegrate back to society. The Commissioner gave the assurance when he received the new State Commander of NDLEA in his office at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka.

* Anambra State-owned tertiary institution, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University has promoted 18 senior lecturers to the rank of professors. The institution’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Harrison Madubueze announced this, stating that the elevation of the university’s teachers was sequel to the decision of the University Council. Similarly, a total of Seven (7) Academic Staff were promoted to the ranks of Reader/Associate Professor.

* Members of Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Health led by its Chairman, Hon. Cater Nnamdi Dike Umeoduagu has paid a familiarization visit to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra Medical Oxygen Production Plant, Mrs Nwamaka Arinze at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka. Hon. Umeoduagu, in his speech, stated that the familiarization visit was important for them to interface with the new Managing Director, and expressed optimism that Mrs. Arinze will deliver because of her passion for the job.

* The twenty-first synod of the Methodist Diocese of Onitsha held at Immanuel Church, Odoakpu Onitsha has ended with a call on the political leaders to address socio-economic challenges facing the country. In his address, the Bishop, Rt Rev. Chiemeka Okpalachukwudi who highlighted the theme of the synod urged Christians to defend their faith even as he observed that Christianity was seemingly at crossroads in the country.
