* The Anambra State Publicity Secretary of Labour party Engr. Theo Egbe has acknowledged the supreme court judgement on the chairmanship tussle of Labour party.

He expressed gratitude to God for strengthening Senator Nenadi Usman’s Caretaker Committee and appreciates their efforts.

Engr. Egbe thanked His Excellency Mr Peter Obi, Gov. Alex Otti and all the party faithfuls. He said that Anambra State Labour party has disassociated themselves from whatever that is going on today as primary, in that they stand with Senator Usman’s caretaker committee to fashion a way forward for the party.

The expressed sadness over the withdrawal of Mr John Nwosu one of the frontline aspirants and thanked God for his courage to stand in the way for progress.

Anambra State Labour Party beckons on some of the colleagues and leaders that are going on with whatever form of primaries for Labour party Anambra state to come back and make amends.

* The former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), George Moghalu, has emerged as the candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for the Anambra State November 8, 2025, governorship election.

Moghalu emerged at the Labour Party primary held in Awka with a total of 573 votes to defeat his only rival, John Nwosu, who got 19 votes.

The governorship primary, witnessed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and observers, was participated by 649 delegates, out of which 601 were accredited. A total of 592 valid votes were cast, with 5 invalid votes.

In his acceptance speech, Moghalu, extended a hand of fellowship to his opponent, John Nwosu, noting that with unity among the stakeholders, LP’s victory would be assured.

* The Anambra State Mixed-Use Industrial City (AMIC), Ogboji will boast of 20 to 24hrs of electricity daily to enable industrialists come in and develop the area.

The Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engr Julius Chukwuemeka stated this when the House of Assembly Committee on Power and Water Resources visited Ogboji in Orumba South council area of the State.

The lawmakers were in the area to oversight the Installation of 15mva injection sub-station, Ogboji and extension of 33 kva from Oji River Injection Sub-station to Anambra Mixed-Use Industrial City Ogboji.

Engr Chukwuemeka noted that the essence of the sub-station is to steps down the power from Oji River at the moment and step it up eventually when human population increases in the area.

* With a concerted effort to checkmate the spread of fake news and misinformation in the era of social media, characterized by user generated content unlike the traditional media, a non-governmental organization, MILID Foundation in partnership with Anambra State government and United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization has organized a workshop on media literacy.

The Executive Director of MILID Foundation, Chiamaka Okafor noted that they aim to build capacity of youths and youth organizations on media literacy through impacting appropriate knowledge for the better use of social media to put a stop to the spread of fake news and misinformation, to ensure that people develop sharp minds to be sieve information they come across before sharing.

The Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor emphasized that the digital era has made the world smaller than imagined and people through their smart phones, can reach all ends of the world and advised against pornographic content on social media , pointing out that the achievements of the Anambra State government is visible to all beyond cheap propaganda by vested interests.

The Keynote Speaker, Professor Stella Okunna, who is the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics, Paul University, Awka, explained that media is a powerful tool in the society saying that even with the advent of social media, the traditional media still aims to maintain ethics of broadcasting and information dissemination, advising against fake news and misinformation.

* Tricycle operators popularly known as Keke Napep riders in Anambra State have submitted a petitioned to the State House of Assembly asking it to intervene in the multiple taxation they pay daily to the government.

The Keke Napepe riders say, those collecting the multiple tax claimed to be working for the government despite a directive from Governor Chukwuma Soludo on a particular amount to be paid.

During a sitting by the Anambra State House Committee on Public Petition at the Conference Hall of the Legislative Complex in Awka, the Chairman of the Tricycle Riders, Mr Chidozie Okafor explained that they had written to the Commissioner for Transport with no tangible action was taken to address the situation hence they resorted to the lawmakers for rescue.

Okafor narrated that each Keke Napep rider pays at least a total of N2,400 to unauthorised persons who parade themselves as government agents while they still pay N2,000 weekly which is the official approved fee by the governor.

* Over eighty thousand indigenes and residents of Idemili North Local Government Area have endorsed Governor Chukwuma Soludo for a second term.

The endorsement was made at the local government headquarters in Ogidi by all the traders, traditional rulers, Presidents General, civil servants as well as various unions and associations in the local government.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Chukwuma Soludo represented by his Deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim welcomed the endorsement with joy and highlighted various developmental strides of his administration in three years including road infrastructure, security, health, education, free delivery, human capital development.

Earlier, the Mayor of Idemili North Local Government Area, Chief Stanley Nkwoka who hailed Governor Soludo for bringing development to the local government and appointing their sons and daughters into various positions said that owing to the Governor’s spectacular performance, they decided to support him for a second term in office.

* Professor Chidozi C. Nwobi-Okoye of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) has been recognised among the top 0.05% of scholars globally in the field of genetic algorithm, marking a significant academic milestone for the institution.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the University’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Harrison Madubueze, who described the achievement as a celebration of scholarly excellence and international recognition.

Prof. Nwobi-Okoye, a distinguished Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering, is widely known for his contributions to optimisation, artificial intelligence applications in engineering, energy systems modelling, and operations research.
