* Anambra Governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo says one of the fundamental social problems threatening today’s society is the seeming neglect by most parents to question the sudden source of wealth of their children. The governor’s wife who stated this in Awka observed that many parents, out of undue urge, have abandoned the primary ethos of truth, honesty and principle in child raising, including moral inculcation and valued traditional etiquettes.

* In line with governor Soludo’s mandate to local government chairmen to maintain a clean environment, the TC Chairman of Oyi LGA, Hon. Emma Nweke(IGA), has continued the desilting of drainages in Oyi. The LG Boss has intensify efforts in keeping Oyi clean

* Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Vice Chairman South East zone Sir Emma Ifesinachi has inaugurated different committees set up by the chairman of Anambra NUJ council, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu (Ph.D) Ifesinachi commended the leadership of the union for their efforts in making NUJ regain it’s lost glory. 

* Commandant Isidore Chikere of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Anambra Command has urged its officers to maintain professionalism and diligence in carrying out their responsibilities through the 2023 Easter vacation. Chikere in his address at the Command Headquarters in Awka, the state capital, reminded his officers and men of the need of adhering to the Easter celebration operational order issued by the Commandant General of the NSCDC.

* The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, says that Catholic Priests have no business with accumulation of wealth, wondering why someone who has no child and family should engage in unbridled quest for materialism, emphasizing that their duty is to propagate the gospel and win souls for God. Bishop Ezeokafor while admonishing Priests exhorted Catholic Faithful to always support their priests spiritually, physically and materially, saying that as followers of Christ, they should understand that priests are Christ’s representatives on earth and deserve to be encouraged and protected. 

* The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) has used the occasion of the Easter celebration to felicitate with its customers, as they commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In a statement issued on Thursday by the Head of Corporate Communications, EEDC, Mr. Emeka Ezeh, the company assured customers of its preparedness to provide technical support during the holiday period. He appealed to customers to remain safe and desist from any unsafe act that may result in electrical accident or fatality, urging them to leverage some of the smart electricity service technology introduced to ease their experience, such as the “EEDC Connect APP” which can be downloaded from Google Play Store.

* The traditional ruler of Nawfia, Njikoka Council of Anambra State, Igwe Chijioke Nwankwo, has denied that the billionaire business mogul, Prince Arthur Eze, took suspended monarchs to the presidency for the purpose of unseating the former Governor, Willie Obiano in 2020. Igwe Nwankwo, who spoke to journalists at his palace, said the misinformation was responsible for the August 2020 suspension of the monarchs, some of whose certificates of recognition were withdrawn.

* All roads will lead to Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka as the institution holds its 80th Inaugural Lecture Series. on Thursday, April 20, 2023 under the chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe, University, Prof Charles Okechukwu Esimone by 1pm. In a statement signed by the Chairman, inaugural lecture committee, Prof Richard Uwakwe, he stated that the programme will attract the institution senate, staff and students while other participants should visit any of the Unizik website links in both YouTube and facebook.

* At least three people were killed and three tricycles crushed in an accident at the Onitsha end of the River Niger Bridge in Anambra State.

The accident caused a gridlock that extended from the Asaba end of the Head Bridge to Oko Market and the Onitsha end of the bridge close to Upper Iweka. The vehicle was said to be coming from the harbour Industrial layout area of Onitsha, and driving through the Julius Berger Construction Yard to connect the Niger Bridge towards Asaba when the driver was allegedly accosted by some revenue agents who jumped into the vehicle.
