* The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra Chapter, has raised concerns regarding the deteriorating state of the Awka Township Stadium. The association issued a communique signed by Chimezie Anaso and Ikenna Nwokedi, the Chairman and Secretary respectively after its congress in Awka. Expressing disappointment, SWAN highlighted the collapse of the football pitch, completed in December 2021, mere three years after its construction, alongside the disused tracks and the dilapidated pavilion, which urgently require rehabilitation.

* Prof. Chukwuma Soludo was among prominent dignitaries that graced the wedding ceremony of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s daughter, Modupeoreoluwa, who was joined with Oladele. The event which took place at the Cathedral Church of Christ in Lagos, was officiated by the Diocesan Bishop of Lagos, Rt. Revd. Ifedola Gabriel Okupevi.

Speaking at the occasion, Governor Soludo, whose attendance at the event exemplified the strong bond of friendship that transcend political and regional boundaries, extended a warm congratulatory message to Governor Sanwo-Olu, his family and the newlyweds, wishing them a lifetime of joy and prosperity.

* The  Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Nnewi, Bishop Jonas Benson, the MD of Innoson Motors, Innocent Chukwuma, the Vice Chancellor of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Charles Esimone alongside others were on the ground at Otuocha in Anambra East to unveil a tourist lodge constructed in Otuocha Anambra East and designed to accelerate the ease of doing business in the area. The 21-room Olivia Tourist Lodge is designed to cater to the influx of tourists daily to Anambra East, the cradle of Igbo civilisation in their search and study of the Igbo nation. The lodge is also designed to cater to traders and businesses across the country who troop to Anambra East to access various agricultural produce and other commercial ventures. The Financier of the project and the Pro-Chancellor of Olivia University, Burundi, Paul Chukwuma who spoke shortly after the Tourist Lodge was unveiled stated that his aim for financing the project was to support job creation in Anambra East and to create a business support structure that will encourage the ease of doing business in the area

* The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Anambra State, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, has expressed the command’s appreciation of the people’s cooperation and support to the ‘proactive policing’ strategies being carefully rolled out by the Command’s leadership. The Police Spokesman, a Superintendent of Police (SP), made the expression while  addressing members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) at  their monthly congress in Awka. Ikenga stated that the state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr Aderemi Adeoye, hit the ground running on his posting to the state, with his good knowledge of the state’s security needs and ideas of how to get about them, to which the populace quickly keyed into, hence the successes being  recorded.

* The Anambra Beach Soccer Association has unveiled its state team, “Anambra Warriors”, during a ceremony held at the Moonshine Hotels in Nnewi. The unveiling spearheaded by the association’s Secretary, Hon. Ezeakukwu Emmanuel Nsoedo, acting on behalf of the Chairman, Prof. Victor Madubuko said the establishment of the theme marked a pivotal moment in the state’s sporting landscape. Addressing the audience, Nsoedo rallied support from the public, urging for both governmental and individual backing to ensure the team’s success. He expressed optimism about the future of beach soccer in Anambra, hinting at plans to establish a local league and encouraging the formation of additional teams within the state.

* National Universities Commission (NUC) has visited the yet to be Unveiled Transatlantic Medicine and Heath Science University in Anambra being spearheaded by popular US-based medical doctor and philanthropist, Dr. Godwin Maduka. The NUC team led by the Executive Secretary, Mr. Chris Maiyaki expressed satisfaction with the quality of structure put in place expected to house the medical university.

The multi-billion naira investment is believed to be part of his efforts to redirect part of his business interests back to Nigeria from US where he has six hospitals and empower experts locally, especially with the growing brain drain in the industry.

* The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has congratulated Chief Jim Martins over the conferment of Akabuike 1 of Umudioka by His Royal Highness, Igwe Raphael Chukwurah.

Soludo who was represented by his Deputy, Dr. OnyekaChukwu Ibezim in a congratulatory message described the conferment of Akabuike on Chief Martins as a royal endorsement of his strength of character, sterling qualities, and a testimonial to his life of service.
