* The Association of Non-Indigenes in Anambra State (ANIAS) has extended congratulatory messages to key gubernatorial candidates across major political parties ahead of the November 2025 governorship election, while urging residents to uphold peace and political tolerance.

In a statement signed by its leadership, the association congratulated the incumbent governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, and his running mate, Dr. Ibezim Onyekachi, on their emergence as the governorship ticket holders for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Similarly, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Chief George Muoghalu of the Labour Party were also commended by ANIAS for their successful nominations, with the group hailing their commitment to public service and democratic principles.

The statement was jointly signed by the president of the association Prince Chigozie Nweke, Associate Woman leader Mrs. Victoria Bata Okafor and the youth leader Comrade Godwin Otu.

* Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) has unveiled Monfes Pharmaceuticals Limited as  the official sponsors of the 2025 edition of the annual Anambra State All Stars Football Competition.

The unveiling ceremony was held last weekend. 

Anambra State Football Association Chairman Chikelue ‘General’ Iloenyosi said Monfes Pharmaceuticals will bring a fresh breath of life, glamour and conviality to the competition exclusively reserved for retired players of over 40 years of age.

Iloenyosi, a former Nigeria international, described the sponsorship as a great ‘plus’ for the tournament that has become a household event in the state’s football calendar.

Presently, registration for this year’s edition expected to commence on April 7, 2025 with a fee of N70, 000 with April 30 pegged as closing date for registration.

The overall winners will go home with N1m (one million Naira) while second and third placed teams will receive N500, 000 (five hundred thousand Naira) and N300, 000 (three hundred thousand Naira) respectively.

* The Healthy Living Initiative led by the Chairman of the group, who is the Commissioner For Health, Dr. Afam Obidike has endorsed Governor Chukwuma Soludo, for second term and donated two million in support of continuity of good governance.

The group rated Soludo as the best Governor in the history of Anambra State, appreciating his outstanding record of achievements and the execution of excellent trailblazing projects in all sectors.

They noted that Ndi Anambra in diaspora are so proud of Mr. Governor  as a dynamic and creative leader whose administration had recorded-breaking performances in the state, especially in the areas of infrastructure, education, health, security and economy expansion, adding that Anambra State is experiencing unprecedented economic growth.

* A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Hon. Ifeanyi Ibezi has dumped the party and declared support for the re-election of Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.

Ibezi who represented Idemili North and South Federal Constituency in the 9th National Assembly, announced his defection during a meeting with his political associates at his country home in Abatete, Idemili North Local Government Area.

The former lawmaker cited the outcome of the APC governorship primary election, which produced Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu as the party’s flagbearer, as a major reason for quitting the party, describing the exercise as a charade.

Ibezi said the APC had failed to field a credible and electable candidate, stressing that his decision to support Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance was borne out of conviction and a desire to see Anambra develop further.

* The Anambra State Joint Security team comprising the Police, the Army from the 302 Artillery Regiment (GS), the Navy from the Naval Command, Department of State Security, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and Anambra State Vigilante, has intensified security patrols.

in the State especially in Nnewi and Ihiala environs. 

The exercise is aimed at checkmating any untoward situations in the area.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has commissioned the road leading to the Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri, and announced its renaming to “Willie Obiano Boulevard” in honour of his immediate predecessor.

the commissioning, held at the gateway to the Chinua Achebe International Airport, described the event as “a unique commissioning, considering the calibre of people present.

The Governor emphasized that the gesture was more than symbolic and that

it was a message of unity, continuity, and respect for those who contributed to Anambra’s development.

Soludo further explained the inclusive developmental model of his administration, recalling his visits and interventions in neglected regions of the state, particularly the northern axis.

* The Anambra State Commissioner for information, Chief Law Mefor has said that Gov. Chukwuma Soludo’s galore of endorsements for his re-election bid is indicative of his popularity, which is hinged on his good governance of the state. 

Chief Mefor made the comment at the Idemili North LGA Headquarters during the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) endorsement rally for Gov. Soludo’s re-election. 

The Commissioner added that APGA has adopted Gov. Soludo as its governorship candidate in the November 2025 Anambra governorship election solely because Gov. Soludo has acquitted himself very well in office. 

He advised the opposition political parties in Anambra state to adopt Gov. Soludo as their respective governorship candidate instead of trying to usurp his position. 

* The leading Aspirant for the Anambra South Senatorial District Bye-election under the platform of the New Nigeria’s People’s Party (NNPP), Bar. Peter Ekwueme has stated his reasons for seeking to prioritize free health care packages for senior citizens in Anambra South.

Ekwueme said that his capturing of the healthcare welfare of the elderly in the Senatorial District in his manifesto was motivated by the need to reduce the mortality rate of people at 60 years and above age bracket.

Barr Ekwueme whose political Ideology is anchored on transparency and accountability is confident that if elected he will revolutionize representation in Anambra South through public accounting and auditing to ensure that the resources of the people are effectively and efficiently utilized.

* Two days after three political parties in Anambra State concluded their primary elections, four aspirants who failed to secure the tickets of their former parties have approached the state office of the Action People’s Party (APP), seeking to participate in the party’s gubernatorial primary election.

The aspirants, are from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Labour Party, who had either withdrawn from the race or lost their respective primary elections.

Speaking with reporters in Awka, Chief Chijioke Okeke, the state chairman of the Action People’s Party (APP), confirmed that the party had been receiving inquiries from several aspirants, noting that the party’s doors remain open to new members.

Okeke, however said that any aspirant seeking the party’s ticket must adhere to the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.

* The youths of Ebenator community in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State trooped out en masse to intervene with palliative works on the Ọfara Umuonyeukpa Road, following the havoc recently wreaked by flood in the area.

The heartwarming initiative came in response to the devastating impact of persistent and heavy rainfall, which over the past few weeks has severely battered parts of the community, turning the Ọfara Road, a major access route into a nightmare for residents and motorists alike. What was once a fairly motorable road gradually deteriorated into a hazardous pathway, riddled with gaping potholes, eroded surfaces, and trenches that threatened to completely cut off access if not urgently addressed.

Heeding the clarion call, the youths under the aegis of the Ebenator Youth Movement  mobilized themselves and stormed the affected area early Monday morning, armed with shovels, diggers, wheelbarrows, gravel, and pure zeal to salvage their land.
