* The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon Obi Amaka has concluded plans to create a breastfeeding creches in the local government offices to enhance breastfeeding among nursing mothers. ANN reports that Hon Obi who was screened and confirmed as the TC chairman of Idemili South for another three months by the Anambra 8th assembly on Thursday, made the disclosure at the flag off ceremony of World Exclusive Breastfeeding And Zero Water Campaign.
* The Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, ASPHDA has taken delivery of their digital work tools as provided by Governor Chukwuma Soludo through the Anambra State ICT Agency. This is a follow-up to the first two hundred cutting-edge laptops and PCs distributed to MDAs in the state to facilitate the state’s transition to digital work procedures.
* Anambra State House of Assembly has calls on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the Commissioner for Environment and the Managing Director, Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA) to set up night monitoring and enforcement team to curtail indiscriminate dumping of refuse at night on the demarcation pavement at the center of the road along Ziks Avenue Awka and as well as every other part of the state. Chief sponsor of the motion Hon. Nkechi Ogbuefi who is the Deputy Minority Whip said the indiscriminate dumping of refuse by many residents of Awka metropolis has become a usual reoccurrence and is now the order of the day.
* Officials of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), have successfully reclaimed a land housing a school that was allegedly grabbed by a land speculator in Okukwa, Amansea, Awka North Local Government Area.
The land which has been in existence for about fifty years now was grabbed by a land speculator who went ahead to sell some portions of the land to another individual.
* Anambra State Government has debunked reports that Governor Chukwuma Soludo has banned prayers in Market. Reacting to viral social media reports that the Governor has stopped traders from organising prayers in the markets, the State Commissioner for Information Sir Paul Nwosu wondered how Governor Soludo can ban prayers in markets when he starts every day with prayer.
* The Woman Leader, All-Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Mrs. Esther Onyekesi, has taken restoration of moral rectitude campaign to the grassroots. Mrs. Onyekesi, who regretted the high rate of moral decadence in the society, charged mothers to be alive to their responsibilities especially in the areas of child nursing and upbringing.
* Anambra State House of Assembly at plenary on Thursday confirm 21 Local Government Transition Committee (TC) Chairmen and their counselors. ANN reports that Governor Chukwuma Soludo in a letter, sent the names of the TC chairmen and counselors to the Anambra 8th assembly for screening and confirmation.
* Apparently inspired by passion to continue to make meaningful contributions for community development, welfare and progress of rural dwellers mostly the poor, orphan, widows and providing jobs for women and youth, a couple based in United States but hailed from Ogidi in Anambra State, High Chief (Engr). Emeka Ken Nwabueze and Iyom Ugonne Nwabueze have pledged more commitments of both time and resources for the development of Ogidi community.
* The Transition Committee Chairman of Anaocha local government area, Mr. Gerald Ozoh has condemned the activities of illegal revenue agents in Anaocha local government area. He gave the condemnation during his visit to a scene of a fatal accident at Agulu, Anaocha local government area caused by a team of illegal revenue agents.
* Following the leadership crisis currently rocking the Anambra State branch of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), the National President of the Union, Comrade Ambali Akeem Olatunji, has call on the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo to only recognised Comrade Adigwe Chikwelu, as NULGE chairman in the state.
Olatunji, who address a press conference in Awka, on Tuesday, over the leadership tussle, debunked publications making the round that the state branch operates under two leadership. The NULGE President maintain that Comrade Chikwelu, remains the only Chairman, duelling elected under the Constitution of the Labour Union, to pilot the affairs of the state.
* The Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ASPHCDA) in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has taken the campaign for ZeroWater for new babies in area to markets and rural areas of the state. This is to promote exclusive breastfeeding for babies from 0-6months of life while the focus is to reach every nook and cranny of the communities to ensure that the message effectively reaches nursing mothers and relevant stakeholders.
