* The President of Aguata Diocesan Women’s Ministry, Mrs Chinyere Ezeofor, has urged Christian mothers to utilize this year’s August Meeting to initiate measures that will bring about the necessary transformation in the society.
Speaking on the significance of the August Home and Abroad Women’s Meeting, Mrs. Ezeofor cautioned mothers against practices that may compromise the true meaning and purpose of the meeting. She expressed concern over the high rate of immorality in the society, particularly among the youths, and charged Christian mothers to seek ways of instilling sound morals in their children.
* The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Professor Carol Arinze-Umobi has appointed Professor Makodi Biereenu Nnabugwu as the new Dean of Student Affairs. Nnabugwu is a scholar who majors in political theory and methodology of political inquiry in the field of Political Sciences. Before this time, Biereenu-Nnabugwu has served as Head, Department of Political Sciences and Director, Ekwueme Centre for Multidisciplinary Research and Institute of Peace, Security and Development.
* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has described the youth as veritable instruments for generational growth and societal reformation. In his goodwill message to Anambra youth as they join their counterparts in celebrating their day, signed by Mr. Emma Madu, the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Udeze noted that the role of the youth in nation building cannot be over emphasized, adding that they are the heart beat and future of every nation. The Speaker who charged youths to abstain from vices such as lust, idolatry, greed and violence among others, maintained that with hard work, education, occupational and vocational engagements as well as skills acquisition,they will be useful to themselves and to the society.
* The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Youth Empowerment Programme, Dr. Nelson Omenugha, has initiated moves to unite building artisans and craftsmen to maintain standards in the quality of services they provide. Omenugha, in pursuance of this objective, held a crucial meeting with the Association of Building Artisans and Craftsmen of Nigeria (ABACON), and other selected selected members of other professional bodies associated with building development.
During the meeting held at the SSG Conference Hall, Government House, Awka, Dr. Omenugha noted that building artisans and craftsmen are critical in sanitizing the sector targeted at ending m building collapse in the state.
* Yet-to-be-identified gunmen have kidnap three men, Barr. Victor Ezeoke, Sir Arinze Egenti, and Nze Celestine Ezeike in Nkpologwu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. The gunmen stormed in the early hours of Sunday, August 11th and carried out the operation. This was corroborated by a video currently trending on social media, showing a somersaulted vehicle lying along the Nkpologwu—Akpo Road, and which a voiceover in the video identified to belong to one of the kidnap victims, Sir Egenti.
* The Transition Committee Chairman of Awka North Local Government Area, Comrade ThankGod Anago has appealed to youths to channel their energies into productive ventures for the betterment of society. In his message to the youths on this year’s celebration, Comrade Anago noted that doing so would be beneficial to the youths and the society at large. He explained that no nation can prosper without the inputs and innovative ideas from its youth population.
* A former Anambra governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chukwuma Umeoji his declare his
intentions to replace late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah or contest the 2024 governorship election. Umeoji last weekend met with the Anambra Comrades Community Stakeholders, a coalition of youth organizations, at his country home in Ezinifite, Aguata.
The meeting has fueled rumours about Umeoji’s interest in contesting the upcoming by-election to replace Ubah, who died last month, or the 2025 governorship election, scheduled for November next year.
* The Deputy Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Chukwuma Okoye has donated a brand new Sienna bus to the Awka Diocesan Council of the Anglican Youth Fellowship, AYF. Okoye who delivered the bus to the Fellowship at St. Marks Anglican Church, Umuawulu in Awka South Local Government Area during their Sunday service, said it was in fulfilment of a promise he made earlier during his campaign that brought him for second term at Anambra State House of Assembly. Rt. Hon. who also represents Awka South two Constituency in Assembly, said the donation was also to thank God for his goodness and mercies in his life and family.
* The Anambra State independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) has announced date for the conduct of Local government elections in Anambra State.

* The Onitsha unit coordinator of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra ( Ocha Brigade), Mr Ejike Odife has charged his men to maintain discipline and discharge their duties diligently without fear or favour. Mr Odife who is coordinating Borromeo Roundabout, Upper Iweka axis, Niger Bridge Head, Ogbaru Local Government and Owerri Road gave the charge during the weekly parades of the agency in Onitsha. Speaking shortly after the parade, Mr Odife said that he was impressed by the parade and performance of the men in his unit, describing Ocha Brigade as a paramilitary agency which needed high level of discipline.
