* Governor Chukwuma Soludo, and his wife; the convener of healthy Living Campaign, Mrs. Nonye Soludo joined his Isuofia community and traditional ruler, HRH Igwe (Col.) C.A.O Muoghalu, Isu II of Isuofia, in celebrating this year’s new yam festival “iri ji Isuofua”. Soludo also pledged a full scholarship to masters; Agu Chidiebere, a primary six pupil of Community School, Isuofia, and Agu Nzube, a primary three pupil of Unique Primary School (Emmanuel Anglican Church School) Isuofia.

* The Director General of South East Governors’ Forum, Sen. Uche Ekwunife has reiterated that the role of Nigerian women in achieving sustainable economic development in the country is pivotal. Ekwunife noted that awareness and re-orientation programmes aimed at promoting gender equality and women empowerment should be embraced at all facets of the society.

* The President-General of Umuona Progressive Union in Aguata Local Government Area Chief Kenneth Okoli has charged Women of the area to use their ongoing August Home and abroad meeting to pray for the restoration of lasting peace and unity in Umuona Community. Speaking on the important roles women’s August meeting play in socio economic development of the society, Chief Okoli cautioned the women to desist from going against the purpose of conceptualizing the August summit.

* Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has celebrated the 2023 International Youth Day. To mark the day, the Governor accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Nonye Soludo and members of the state Executive Council, combined a run and walk session, spanning 6.2 kilometres at the Awka Township Stadium to celebrate the occasion. Soludo who also used the occasion to launch the sports economy in the state, revealed that sports is health, wealth and the future.

* The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Police says it will partner and also collaborate with the Anambra State Ministry of Justice to ensure prompt trial of cases, granting of bails and speedy dispensation of Justice to decongest correctional centres across the state.
CP Aderemi Adeoye who stated this during a courtesy visit to the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice Prof. Sylvia Chika Ifemeje, said strategic plans are in place to ensure that issues of illegal detentions and long awaiting trials in custody are addressed such that only very serious cases of capital offences would warrant jail terms if decided by courts of competent jurisdictions.

* Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, has expressed appreciation to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, for efficient management of the union and labour relations in the State. The National President, Comrade Akeem Olatunji, while addressing NULGE, Anambra State chapter in Awka, said the union will continue to show solidarity and support to the governor for him to actualize his vision for the state.

* A lawmaker, Honourable Bernard Udemezue, who is the member representing Anyamelum state Constituency was denied entry into the Anambra Assembly complex. A source said the lawmaker arrived for plenary in a tricycle, popularly known as Keke NAPEP, but was rejected entry into the compound.

* The executives of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Council (JCC) Anambra Axis under the leadership of their Chairman Comrade Chibuike Nneke, paid a courtesy visit to the House of Assembly member representing Idemili North Constituency, Hon. Kingsley Udemezue. The lawmaker advised them to work hard in their different responsibilities to ensure that the students are carried along in their decisions and also be good leaders

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has expressed excitement over yet another feat, this time attained on a global stage by the Anambra State-led Team Nigeria as overall winners of the 2023 Malaysian International Bilateral Debate Championship.

Congratulating the winning Team Nigeria, Soludo enthused that this latest remarkable achievement is a further evidence of the relentless world-class scholarly excellence for which Nigerians in general, and Anambra State students in particular, are known for.

* Anambra State Government is to establish Health Facility Monitoring Accreditation Agency to eliminate quackery in the State. The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike disclosed this when Anambra state House of Assembly Committee on Health paid a familiarization visit to the Ministry of Health at the Jerome Udorji, Secretariat in Awka. Dr. Obidike informed the committee that the Agency will be established before the end of this year and it will clamp down on any illegal hospital found operating in Anambra State.

* The President General of Umueri General Assembly, Chief Johnny Metchie has hailed Governor Chukwuma Soloudo for re-appointing Transition Committee chairmen of the 21 local government areas. Metchie maintained that the re-appointment will help them consolidate on their project.
