* There was Pandemonium at Ose Okwuodu Market, Onitsha, Anambra State as the Chairman of Ajasa Traders Association, Chief Chima Ohia, was allegedly beaten up by the Chairman of Ose Market, Ikechukwu Umeanozie and some thugs. Narrating his ordeal, Chief Ohia said he would have been a dead person if not for the mercy of God, adding that if someone had predicted to him that what he passed through in the hands  of Umeanozie and his boys in the presence of the  Chairman of Onitsha North  Local Government Area, Hon. Onichie Ozonma  he would not believe the person.

* Some residents along Onitsha/Owerri Road has alert security operatives over the increase in crime rate as no day passes without record of crime incidence. According to them Security operatives, including the vigilante seem to be helpless within that vicinity as bad elements operate with impunity thereby endangering people’s lives and property in Awada and Owerri Road axis.

* The Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor has called on the federal government to always make policies that will improve the living standards of the people. In a sermon at All Saints parish Igbo-Ukwu in Aguata local government area during a service of confirmation and admission into Girls Guild, Women’s Guild and Christian Men’s fellowship for all the parishes under Igbo-Ukwu Archdeaconry, Right Reverend Ezeofor regretted the hardship Nigerians are passing through in a country that is richly blessed by God.

* The Majority Leader of Anambra State House of Assembly Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme has described the just concluded “All Stars Tournament” as a welcome development and a step in the right direction. Ofodeme who is the member representing Ekwusigo constitiency while speaking to reporters after the final game on Sunday at the Awka City Stadium between Anambra State All Stars Club Onitsha and Nobel Friends FC Onitsha, commended the Anambra State Football Association (FA) Chairman General Chikelue Iloenyosi for bringing football lovers togather.

* The Anambra State government has placed a ban on the advertisement of all forms of herbal drugs in the state. Before the ban, Anambra was being caricatured as a place where first visitors to the state would be greeted with open advertisement of herbal medicine in motor parks and other strategic places in the state.

* A young woman has taken to Facebook to narrate how a lady was held hostage at Upper-weka area of Onitsha, Anambra State for the offence of not putting on bra. The lady was allegedly accosted by some group of young men claiming to be Anambra State task force members.

* Member representing Nnewi North constituency Hon. Ike Augustine Onyekachi in an interview revealed that the 8th Anambra assembly will make enabling laws and move relivant motions that will support the development of sports in Anambra. According to Hon. Augustine Ike who is the house committee chairman on youths development and sports, “We already have ideas that we are developing sports and will be presented to the governor. The 8th assembly is going to lift Anambra sports to the pick in Nigeria.

* Residents of Okpuno area Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State have cried out over intimidation by men of the Anambra State Vigilante Group (AVG). The residents of the area told journalists that some operatives of the group invaded their homes early Friday morning, asking for payment for security services.

* Anambra State Head of Service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe has charged both public and civil servants in Ministries, agencies and Parastatals across the state to be alive to their various responsibilities. Speaking to newsmen in her office on various reforms being put in place by the government for efficient service delivery among the state work force, Barrister Igwegbe cautioned workers against truancy and abdication of civil and public service rules and regulations.

* Some residents of the commercial town of Onitsha have commended the police in Onitsha for low crime rate recorded in the area. The low crime commission which is as a result of measures put in place by police hierarchy headed by the State Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye who had earlier sworn to deal with criminals on assumption of duty in Anambra State. Cooperation among the police, vigilante and other security agencies across the State is also yielding positive results.The State vigilante, Anambra State Vigilante Group (AVG) is reported to be consistent in the fight against violent crimes in Anambra State is also commendable.

* Anambra State born philanthropist, Dr Abraham Ikechukwu Otti, on Saturday, presented an award, a laptop computer to Master Lotana Azuokeke, the best student in Mathematics for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Nigeria. Azuokeke scored 99/100.
