* Four deacons have been ordained Priest and one Ordinand made Deacon by the Anglican Bishop of Niger West, Right Reverend Johnson Ekwe. The event took place at the Cathedral Church of Saint Gabriel Umueri in Anambra East Local Government Area. The newly promoted priests are Chinedu Anyaenyi, Marcel Chukwuemeka, Paul Edochie and Marcel Chukwukelu while Egwuchukwu Eruchalu was made a Deacon.

* No fewer than five persons have died in a ghastly car accident that occured at Abatete, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State. Videos from the scene of the crash, currently trending on the social media, show some corpses lying in the pool of their blood, while some others were said to be still trapped inside and under the crashed vehicle.

* Anambra State House of Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze at plenary on Tuesday announced the appointment of Mr. Okechukwu .P. Nwobi as the acting clerk. Rt. Hon. Udeze made the announcement after
Majority Leader, the member representing Ekwusigo constituency Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme moved the motion for the appointment of Mr. Okechukwu Nwobi who replaced Mrs. Esther Anaetoh as the acting clerk with effect from Tuesday 15 August 2023.

* The National Association of the Blind Anambra State Chapter has held a one-day leadership training programme aimed at enhancing the skills and capabilities of its members. The event, held at Saint Peter’s Anglican Church, Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Area, Anambra state brought together visually impaired individuals from across the state to offer them a unique opportunity to learn and grow in various aspects of leadership.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has continued to receive commendations for his development initiatives. Speaking after a reunion meeting of a pro-Soludo group “Movement for Good Governance and Conscience for Soludo in Awka, the Convener Comrade Uche Egbebike described the Governor as an innovative leader with practical approach to governance. Comrade Egbebike who is also the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Mobilization noted that his comprehensive and strategic approach to governance is opening up the state and touching many lives.

* The President of Anambra State All Stars Sports Club Onitsha, Sir Uchenna Chinedu Okpala-Ezeokoli, has called for an urgent rehabilitation of Chuba ikpeazu Stadium Onitsha to world-class standard. He said the called was necessary due to the poor condition of the stadium at the moment.

* The Management of Anambra State Police Command led by the Commissioner of Police CP Aderemi Adeoye on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Acting IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, decorated two hundred and eighty-eight (288) Inspectors serving in the Command who were promoted to the next rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP II) This decoration which was held on Tuesday 14th August 2023, is sequel to approval by the Police Service Commission for the promotion of the Police Officers on the recommendation of the Inspector-General of Police Acting IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D.

* Anambra State House of Assembly has urged Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the Commissioner for Health to commence the establishment of general hospital in a land already donated for that purpose in Nnewi North local government area and to futher bring healthcare closer to the people. The chief sponsor of the motion Hon. Augustine Onyekachukwu Ike while making his submission on Tuesday August 15, stated that the right to health is guaranteed under the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights.

* There was Pandemonium at Ose Okwuodu Market, Onitsha, Anambra State as the Chairman of Ajasa Traders Association, Chief Chima Ohia, was allegedly beaten up by the Chairman of Ose Market, Ikechukwu Umeanozie and some thugs.

Narrating his ordeal, Chief Ohia said he would have been a dead person if not for the mercy of God, adding that if someone had predicted to him that what he passed through in the hands  of Umeanozie and his boys in the presence of the  Chairman of Onitsha North  Local Government Area, Hon. Onichie Ozonma  he would not believe the person.

* Some residents along Onitsha/Owerri Road has alert security operatives over the increase in crime rate as no day passes without record of crime incidence. According to them Security operatives, including the vigilante seem to be helpless within that vicinity as bad elements operate with impunity thereby endangering people’s lives and property in Awada and Owerri Road axis.

* The Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor has called on the Federal Government to always make policies that will improve the living standards of the people. In a sermon at All Saints parish Igbo-Ukwu in Aguata local government area during a service of confirmation and admission into Girls Guild.
