* The Anambra State Boundary Committee, chaired by Deputy Governor Dr. OnyekaChukwu Ibezim convened to assess its progress and also ratify resolutions on some boundary issues affecting a number of communities.
While speaking, Dr. Ibezim stressed the importance of peaceful resolution, noting that insecurity situations in our society today is predominantly attributed to boundary disputes. The Deputy Governor warned that communities should desist from resorting to self help by taking up arms in the bid to determine boundaries but to rely on lawful means of either approach the State Boundary Commission or go court in other not to risk acquisitions of such lands by government in the interest of peace. Adding that the life of any individual worth more than any expanse of land as far government is concerned.

* Uncertainty has beheld the people of Nanka community in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, as yet-to-be-identified armed men stormed a public function and abducted no fewer than eight men after beating up the participants at the event. The incident happened in Amakor village, Nanka, where the people were hosting an ọzọ title-taking ceremony. According to an eyewitness who managed to escape, Mr. Paul Ezike, about three persons — Peter Emerie Ilo and Chike Ilo (who are brothers to the Amakor village Chairman, Barr. Obinna Ilo), and Madueke Nwafor — were being initiated into the ọzọ society at the well-attended event, before the men stormed.

* Stakeholders of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Idemili North local government area, Anambra State have praised the leadership qualities of its current national chairman, Chief Edozie Njoku towards repositioning the party in national politics. The stakeholders who spoke during the local government meeting of the party held at Nkpor yesterday also restated that despite some seeming differences among the party hierarchy, they have only one leader of the party in the person of Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State.The Interim Chairman of APGA Idemili North LGA, Hon. Churchill Okafor and the secretary, Mrs Chinenye Ezeh congratulated the National Deputy Chairman (South) of the party, Freedom Obi and the National Vice Chairman (Southeast), Hon. Tony Ezekwelu for bringing their wealth of experience to build the party.

* The people of Enugwu-Agidi community in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State have dissociated themselves from the recently arrested randy seminarian, Chukwudi Okeye, who defiled a ten-year-old child that came to invite him to her school graduation ceremony. Anambra State government recently arrested one 34-year-old man resident in Amanuke in Awka North Local Government Area for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl. The suspect, during interrogation, claimed that he was a native of Enugwu-Agidi community in Njikoka Local Government Area of the State. However, in a statement issued to newsmen, the people of Enugwu-Agidi denied knowing the man nor having anything to do with him.

* One-day-old baby has been found abandoned inside a sack bag, within church a church premises in Nkpor-Agu, in Idemili North Local Government Area of the State. According to a voiceover accompanying a video currently trending on social media, the latest baby, found earlier this week, was dumped inside a bag and covered with dried plantain leaves within the premises of the church, located at the Engr. Chukelu Street, Ububa South, Nkpor Agu.

* In a move that has sparked widespread outrage and protests, the Anglican Church in Nigeria has elected Ven. Prof. Sam Ike, an Anambra man, as the new bishop of Enugu Diocese. The election, which took place in Abuja, has been rejected by the indigenes of Enugu State, who claim that the process was unfair and did not reflect the will of the people. According to a petition written by Kingsley Okah, a justice advocate, on behalf of the people of Enugu, the election outcome is a clear indication of the church’s insensitivity and disregard for fairness and justice.

* The Association of Integrated Indigene of Njikoka Chapter paid a courtesy call to the Transition Committee (TC) Chairman, Barr. Chinedu Dominic Ononiba, at the LGA headquarters. Led by their chairman, Elder Clement Mgbechi, and other executive members, the association seized the opportunity to highlight its objectives and contributions to the Njikoka community. They also pledged their support to Barr. Ononiba and his administration. Barr. Ononiba expressed his delight at the visit and assured the association that they should not hesitate to seek his assistance whenever needed. He encouraged them to continue supporting the administration of Governor Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, who is working tirelessly to build a livable and prosperous Anambra State.

* The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Warriors’ Forum has commended the 8th Assembly members and the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) for their proactive measures to ensure the smooth conduct of local government elections in the state.
In a statement made available to newsmen, the National Coordinator of APGA Warriors’ Forum, Chinedu Obigwe, praised the 8th Assembly members for amending the ANSIEC law, which he described as a “timely and necessary” move to prevent the Federal government from withholding local government allocations in adherence to the recent Supreme Court ruling. Obigwe noted that such a situation would have dire consequences, including the stoppage of salaries for primary school teachers, primary health workers, local government workers, traditional rulers, Vigilantes, Sanitation workers, and others who rely on local government allocations for their livelihood.

* The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. OnyekaChukwu Ibezim has decoratrd his escort commander, Inspector Uniumu Godfrey, with his new rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP). The decoration took place at the office of the Deputy Governor with a brief ceremony joined by the newly promoted officer’s wife Mrs. Uniumu and other well-wishers within the office. Decorating the officer, Dr. Ibezim adorned the new ASP with his insignia, marking a significant milestone in his career. He congratulated ASP Godfrey on his well-deserved promotion, acknowledging his dedication and hard work and encouraged him to continue serving with distinction and never relent in upholding the highest standards of the Nigeria Police Force.

* The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), In Nimo Ward One, Njikoka Local Goverment Area of Anambra State has welcome new members of the Labour Party (LP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The Transition Committee (TC) Chairman of Njikoka LGA, Barr. Chinedu Dominic Ononiba, and Pharm. Chinedu Anaekwe, APGA Njikoka LG Chairman amongst other stakeholders welcomed the new members.
