* The Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Collins Nwabunwanne, has urged those fomenting trouble in Ifitedunu community in the Dunukofia Local Government Area of the state to respect the decisions of the elders of the area.
He said the elders of the area led by oil mogul, Chief Arthur Eze, had sat and resolved that the warring factions should sheathe their swords to allow peace to reign in Ifetedunu.
* A coroner inquest to ascertain the cause of the death of late Mr. Tochukwu Onyelumelukwe of Enugwu village Nanka has been initiated. A Senior Advocate of Nigeria and one time Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Anambra state, Barrister Udechukwu Nnoruka Udechukwu, in a media briefing wondered why nothing has been done to give justice to the late Tochukwu who was allegedly killed in a violent attack in Nanka, Orumba North council area.
* A thirty-three-year-old Chinedu Adim has been arrested for beating his eight-year-old daughter to coma in Awka. Mr. Adim, a commercial tricycle operator who is a native of Lokpa, in Abia State said his wife abandoned him with two of their kids while witnesses alleged that he has since then been using hard substances which usually triggers him to brutalize the daughter.
* Two Police Officers and a Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps working under the office of the Anambra state Deputy Governor have been promoted to higher ranks. The officers were decorated by the Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim in his office at the Government House Awka. The two police officers, Mr. Anthony Thomas and Mr. Sunday Adah were respectively promoted from the rank of Inspector to Assistant Superintendents of Police, and the Civil Defence Officer, Dumebi Odogwu was promoted from Assistant Inspector of Corps to Assistant Superintendent of Corps.
* A Chieftain of the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA, in Ifitedunu community, in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief Vincent Udobi has called on the State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo to sack his Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr. Anthony Collins Nwabunwanne, to save The image of the state and the party ahead of the 2025 governorship election. Stating that Nwabunwanne would truncate Soludo’s good intentions and by extension his reelection in 2025.
* The Anambra State government says it has made adequate preparations towards ensuring that flood disaster is contained if it eventually occurs this year as predicted. The Executive Secretary, State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA Chief Paul Odenigbo stated this during a training for Local Emergency Management Committees, LEMC, and some health workers in all the ten flood prone local government areas of the state held at Anambra East headquarters, Otuocha.
* Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr. Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne has charged stakeholders in Nteje a community in Oyi local government area, to deliberate on the Igweship tussle which has divided their community and resolve the matter amicably. Nwabunwanne gave the charge when some stakeholders from the community visited him in his office at Government House, Awka the state capital.
* No fewer than 40 people including a popular cleric, Rev. Livinus Okeke, Spiritual Director, Ave Maria Prayer Ministry, Ifite Awka, and lecturer at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, UNIZIK, Awka, Anambra State capital, were at the weekend, honoured by the Environment Faculty, over the role they played in environmental cleanliness and sustainability. They were honoured with awards during the launch of #100million Waste recycling hub, water reservoir, modern lavatory system for students/staff and model environmental beautification project.
* The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili North Local Government Area, Hon. Chuksbrown Igboañua has congratulated the newly elected Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) executive of the council area over their victory in an election that took place yesterday, Thursday 17th August, 2023. Congratulating the new executive members, Hon. Igboañua advised them to discharge their duties effectively and efficiently, and seek their co-operation and support to the management team of the local government in order to move the council forward.
* The Press Secretary to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State, Mr. Christian Aburime has berated what he sees as campaign of calumny and false propaganda being peddled by one Mrs. Uche Ajuluchukwu against the state government. Aburime who in a press statement maintained that Mrs. Ajuluchukwu blatantly lied against Governor Soludo in her claims that the present administration ostracized Persons Living With Disabilities (PWD).
