* The traditional ruler of Omor community in Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Chris Chidume has lent his voice to the call for sustained efforts to move Nigeria from consumption to production economy. Speaking at his 2023 Iwa Ji festival held at his palace, the Monarch urged government at all levels to encourage productivity in order to have surplus for export, thereby helping to attract foreign exchange that will enable Nigerian economy rebound.
* Professor Victor Madubuko, the chief promoter of Beach football in Anambra has said that his dream is to make the sport the most preferred for athletes and sportsmen in the state.
Madubuko, an American based Beach Soccer enthusiast said this in an interaction with sports writers in Nnewi. He said the Beach football activities would officially kick off as a competitive sports soon.
* An industrialist from Umuzocha village Awka Mr. Uche Anigbogu has paid glowing tribute to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for government’s appreciable attention to roads rehabilitation in Awka. In a press statement in Awka, Mr. Anigbogu listed some of the roads to include some inner roads connecting the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Okpuno town, St. Faith pro cathedral, etc. He called for the rehabilitation of the Onwuegbune street to Ichida and the Araba street Umuzocha to the Enugu- Onitsha expressway.
* The Accountant General of Anambra State, Dr. Chukwudi Okoli has instructed Internal Auditors and Managing Directors of various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), in the state on prudence in the handling of financial processes and expenditures. He gave this orientation while holding a meeting with the Internal Auditors and MDs in his office at Awka.
* The Accountant General of Anambra State, Dr. Chukwudi Okoli has called for a shift from the old ways of working from accounting officers in Ministries and Agencies. The Accountant General made the call during an in-house meeting with the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, and key Accounting officers of the Ministry of Education at Jerome Udorji Secretariat Complex, Awka. Dr Okoli who was on fact-finding tour of ministries and agencies, said that the present administration is on a quest to redefine the accounting sector, ridding it of corrupt practices and negligence.
* The President General (PG), Nsugbe community, Dr. Robert Chinweze Ezeanwu has said that the era of insensitivity and lukewarm to sensitive issues and bad occurrence happening around the community will no longer be tolerated for all inhabitants of Nsugbe, both indigenes and non indigenes as you “see something, say something”. Dr. Chinweze said this while inaugurating security men during security summit at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Abata Nsugbe. He called on the security to always work with the police, setting new agenda on security issues in order to strengthen the existing structure.
* Digital skills have the capacity to keep young people busy, reduce crime while providing them with an opportunity to earn a decent living, the lawmaker representing Awka South 1 Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Henry Mbachu, has said.
Mbachu stated this at the weekend while providing free Wi-fi to his constituency in collaboration with Airtel Nigeria.

Anambra State Government has approved the release of the sum of thirty-four million, sixty-one thousand, two hundred and two naira, seventy-five kobo (N34,061,202.75) for the Reconstruction of Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka. The contract was awarded to Maxplus Integrated Services Ltd with a completion period of 10 weeks from the date of the payment of the 20% mobilization fee.

* The newly elected executive of Anambra State Association of Town Unions – Women Wing, Alor Community (Inyom Alor), Idemili South Local Government Area, have pledged to continue to advocate for peace and unity in their community whose men’s folk share loyalties between two traditional rulers. In her address, the Outgoing Community Women Leader (CWL), Mrs Grace Uche Nwoye, thanked the Almighty God for seeing her through during her two tenures in office, helping her keep the entire Alor women as one entity united in peace during a period when the Alor Community leadership crises resulted into the community parading two monarchs and two Town Union governments.
