* The Chairman of the NUJ Anambra State Council, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, PhD and its members has expressed gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Soludo led government for re-aborsbing the workers of shut Anambra Newspapers and Printing Corporation (ANPC), the publishers of National Light Newspapers , Ka Odita , an Igbo newspaper, Sports Light to various Ministries of the government. The NUJ members at the August meeting held at the Godwin Ezemo press center, Awka stated that posting for the workers of National Light Newspapers have been concluded and they shall report to their new duty posts for documentation before the end of this month.
* The Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon (Mrs) Amaka Obi at the council Secretariat Ojoto, hosted and sponsored widows across the 12 wards of the LGA to a sensitization session on sustainable family peace enhancement. The sensitization session was in partnership with the United Nations International Peace and Governance Council (UNIPGC) team led by Amb Mrs Amaka Ezedioranma, Executive Director UNIPGC.
* Anambra State House of Assembly has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the commissioner for agriculture to initiate a process for mechanized solutions to boost agriculture in the state. The member representing Onitsha North one constituency Rt. Hon. Douglas Nwachukwu Egbuna who is the chief sponsor of the motion stated that Mechanized Agriculture or Agricultural Mechanization is the use of machinery and equipment, ranging from simple and basic hand tools to more sophisticated, motorized equipment, and machinery, to perform agricultural operations.
* Every year, World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated in August as a global observation to raise awareness about the importance of breastfeeding and its benefits thus the reason wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Mrs. Nonye Soludo keyed-in to support and encourage breastfeeding as a vital aspect of health and well-being for both mother and child.
Mrs. Soludo who is also the founder of Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo said breastfeeding is essential for the overall health and wellness of both baby and mother.
* The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs in Anambra State, Mr. Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne has again reiterated that any local government chairman not performing in his council area will be removed from office and a more competent person will take his job. The Commissioner who spoke exclusively with our correspondent in his office at the Government House Awka, explained that being a local government chairman isn’t a meal ticket and that such sensitive position is entrusted in the hands of one with the requisite administrative acumen to propel grassroots development in line with the Solution Agenda.
* The Anambra State House of Assembly calls on Anambra indigenes in Private and Public
sectors as well as the diaspora to join hands with the Government of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo in the development of communities in Anambra State. Chief sponsors of the motion Hon. Anthony Muobike while leading the motion on Thursday at plenary, stated that community development programs will usually involve principles such as community participation, ownership and involvement, empowerment, equal access and opportunities, networking, learning and advocacy among others.
* A woman, identified as Mrs. Amaka Okonkwo, has been apprehended by the Anambra Police Command for allegedly pouring a mixture of hot water and pepper on her tenant, Imabong William, over her inability to pay rent. The victim, Mrs. William, who is a resident of Enugwu-Ukwu community in Njikoka Local Government Area of the state, was said to have been given a notice to vacate her apartment after failing to meet the new rent requirements. However, in her plea for more time to secure a new residence, she became a victim of assault as her landlady poured the scalding concoction on her.
* The Anambra State Chairman, Tricircle Owners and Drivers Association of Nigeria Awka Zone, Prince Collins Ozojiofor, says it has drawn to the knowledge of the Association that a faceless group in the State known as Keke Drivers Welfare Forum and that of Anambra State Shuttle Bus Drivers Forum led by one Mr.Osita Obi who is neither a shuttle or keke owner nor rider is withdrawing services to the public any moment soon. Prince Ozojiofor, who was speaking in a press statement made public to Journalists in Awka, said that the statement allegedly made by Mr. Osita Obi was to enable him and his cohorts in the state to stage what he described as a heavy protest against Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s taxe policy .
