* Officials of the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA) Bridgade have been accused of extorting shopowners around the St Joseph the Worker axis of Unizik junction. This is regards their regular raids that takes place each week in the region. One Chiamaka (surname withheld), a POS agent who spoke on condition of anonymity explained that the officials approached her asking for a bribe of #5,000. She pleaded with them, but they insisted and destroyed her business premises and went further to snatch her POS machine. On a similar note, Blessing, a female shoe and craftsman said the officials approached her shop and snatched her properties without her prior notification.

* Mrs Nonye Soludo wife of Anambra Governor has explained that eating right, in line with the acceptable standards of healthy living, is cheap and does not have to cost a fortune. The Governors wife explained this while responding to questions during one of her engagements with a women group in Awka, noted that economic circumstances do not completely determine healthy living practices, including the choice of what one consumes to keep the body in the best shape.
* Hon Nkechi Ogbuefi Anyanwu, the lawmaker representing Anaocha One State Constituency in the 8th legislature of Anambra State and the only female lawmaker amongst the 30 members of the state assembly, has explained her mission to the House of Assembly. The lawmaker who is representing the constituency of the Labour Party presidential candidate in the last general elections, Mr. Peter Obi, told our correspondent in an exclusive interview at the state assembly complex, that she was in the 8th legislature to attract projects to Anaocha One and not to get involved in anything that would be counter productive.
* Anambra State Police Commissioner, CP Aderemi Adeoye has vowed to clamp down on cultists running amok in the State Capital, Awka.
The Commissioner, who described the cultists as murderers said they are not fit to live among decent human beings in the society. Adeoye described those sponsoring the cultists to kill humans like them as cowards who should cover their faces in shame.

has encouraged journalists to stand by the society always in defense of truth, justice and equity for an egalitarian society, particularly the weak and downtrodden who could not afford the media to defend themselves. The call was made at the August congress of the union held at Godwin Ezemo press center.
* Anambra State House of Assembly has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo on his recent intervention to mitigate the economic challenges through the announcement of economic paliatives. ANN reports that yhe member representing Ogbaru one constituency Rt. Hon. Chukwunonso Nobel Igwe, the chief sponsor of the motion through the consent of the Speaker invoked order 10 rule 44 of the house standing order.
* The Comissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Aderemi Adeoye has awarded cash sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N250,000) to a Policewoman serving in Main Market Division, Onitsha. At the presentation of the cash award in his office on Friday 25th August, 2023 the Commissioner of Police commended the DPO for providing good leadership and Inspector Charity Oyor for her uprightness.
* The MD/CEO of Anambra State Waste Management Agency ( ASWMA) Mr Mike Ozoemena has congratulated and lauded the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo for his Workaholic and Zealous spirit in piloting the affairs of the State. Mr. Ozoemena made this heartfelt commendation in a statement in Awka, on the anniversary of the state.

* In a bid to tackle the growing problem of refuse dumps in Awka, Honorable ThankGod A Anagor (JP), the Chairman of Awka South Local Government, recently convened a wake-up meeting with key stakeholders and contractors responsible for clearing the refuse dumps. The meeting aimed to accelerate efforts and strategize the best approach to combat the menace effectively. Addressing the contractors directly, Honorable Anagor underscored the importance of their role in maintaining a clean environment. He warned that their contracts could be terminated if they fail to meet the expected standards. He emphasized the need for unwavering dedication and a zero-tolerance policy towards inefficiency. He made it clear that there would be no room for complacency, and those who do not perform would be replaced.
