# Anambra-East and West constituents have blasted their representatives at the state and federal legislatures over the very devastating and deplorable conditions of the Nneyi-Umueri-Anam road in the area.

According to reports, from locals in the constituency, the road which they described as very strategic and connected the home of the House of Representatives member representing Anambra-East and West in the current 10th National Assembly, has been abandoned for over 5 years resulting to its very deteriorating state.

Investigations revealed that Nneyi-Umueri-Anam road is now a nightmare with very gigantic potholes and bad portions from the beginning to the end of the road.

# The National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, has said that the party will not field a presidential candidate in 2027.

Ezeokenwa, who made the disclosures during a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, regretted that the members of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State used the recent by-election in the state to foment trouble and weave false narratives about the Soludo administration.

The National Chairman maintained that the reason is part of the party’s tradition and in demonstration of its total support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He dismissed speculations by some opposition politicians that Governor Charles Soludo’s courtesy visit to the president was ostensibly to lobby the president for reciprocal support during the November 8 gubernatorial election in Anambra State.

# The Anambra State Chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), has toured some strategic developmental projects being executed by the Governor Chukwuma Soludo across the state.

Some of the project sites visited include the Amawbia/Uga Dual-Carriage Road; the Ekwulobia Flyover, Solution Park and Market; the Solution Fun-City and the Anambra State Government House and Lodge (the Light House), in Awka.

The inspection by the members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm, was embarked on as part of the expository activities lined up for the 2025 Press Week.

Speaking during the tour, NUJ National Secretary Comrade Achike Achude,
commended the Anambra State Council of the union, describing the tour as a demonstration of unity, professionalism and readiness to partner with government in amplifying developmental achievements.

# Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, UNIZIK Awka Branch, staged a peaceful protest and press conference at the union’s Secretariat, to draw attention to unresolved issues affecting Nigerian universities and the welfare of its members.

The Chairperson of ASUU-NAU, Comrade Innocent Nnubia, while addressing journalists and members during the event, lamented that despite repeated engagements, the Federal Government has failed to address pressing concerns that have lingered for years.

Comrade Nnubia noted that the union has exercised patience for too long, writing several letters to the Federal Government without results. He warned that industrial harmony in universities could no longer be guaranteed if the issues remained unresolved.

The protest, which saw lecturers march peacefully within the university axis, drew attention to the economic hardships faced by members. “As at 2009, a professor earned about $3,000 monthly; today, the same professor earns less than $400. This is pitiable and unacceptable,” the statement read.

# NUJ Chairman, Anambra State Council, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu has lauded the projects as transformative, stressed that Governor Chukwuma Soludo has distinguished himself among his counterparts through visible achievements within a short period in office, and called on ndi Anambra to continue supporting policies and programs that promote sustainable development.

Dr. Odogwu while speaking during the inspection of the projects executed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, noted that contrary to claims in some quarters, the projects are not only real but also stand as evidence of ongoing efforts by the state government to deliver on its promises.

Also lending their voices, Veteran journalist, Sir. Chuka Nnabuife and an ex-officio of the council, Comrade Ebele Ezeh, applauded Governor Soludo’s bold strides, noting that his developmental initiatives have not only impacted Ndi Anambra positively, but also projected the state on the global map.

* The Anambra State Government has taken a significant step towards improving healthcare services in the state with the commissioning of a Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA), Medical Oxygen Production Plant at Enugwu Ukwu General Hospital.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike while inaugurating the plant at the Enugw Ukwu General Hospital, Njikoka LGA, noted that the aim was to boost healthcare delivery in health facilities in the state especially in making Oxygen readily available with affordable prices anytime it is needed.

According to Dr. Obidike, the oxygen plant would provide a consistent and reliable supply of oxygen, reducing dependence on external suppliers and minimizing the risk of shortages.

# The CEO, Managing Director, Solution Fun City facility, Mr. Mohamed Farrag, says beyond aesthetics, deliberate measures have been put in place to ensure safety, comfort, and a memorable leisure experience for visitors.

Council during an inspection tour, Farrag maintained that the project was carefully designed to meet international standards, thereby positioning Anambra as a tourism-friendly state.

The MD added that with effective security architecture and modern amenities,  Solution Fun City has the potential to attract both local and international visitors, thereby boosting revenue generation for the state.

# The National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, has said the relationship between Governor Chukwuma Soludo and President Bola have never hidden and that
both leaders have always experienced their admiration for each other.

Ezeokenwa, who made the disclosures during a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, said even the President has continuously alluded to the long-time friendship that has existed between him and Professor Soludo.

He contended that Governor Soludo’s support and, by extension, APGA’s decision to back President Tinubu’s re-election do not proceed from a quid pro quo consideration, remarking that it flows from tradition and as a mark of the mutual understanding between the President and the Governor.

While revealing that he was not privy to the discussions between Soludo and President Tinubu when the former visited the latter, the APGA boss maintained that the Anambra chief executive has never hidden his call for progressives to align and work together.

Explaining Soludo’s support for Tinubu, Ezeokenwa explained that the Anambra governor has been vocal about his admiration for the courage that Mr President has demonstrated in engendering very necessary and crucial reforms of the economy, especially from day one when the president removed the subsidy.

# The Anambra State Police Command on Wednesday, 27th August 2025, represented the Nigeria Police Force at a high-level discussion on the theme: “Education: A Panacea in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”.

The event organized by the Youth Coalition for Education in Nigeria (YOCEN), was held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.

Speaking at the event, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) SP. Tochukwu Ikenga who represented the Commissioner of Police emphasized the commitment of the Police to ensuring a safe and secure environment for learning.

SP. Ikenga further stressed that security is an enabler of quality education, gender equality, and sustainable growth. He also noted that the Inspector General of Police’s Safe School initiatives are a proactive Police approach to ensuring the safety and security of schools, students, teachers and staff.
