* Nnamdi Azikiwe University have Announced the Appointment of Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic). In a press release signed by the Special Adviser to the Vice-Chancellor on Information and Public Relations, Dr. Emmanuel C. Ojukwu, the Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Carol Arinze-Umobi, appointed Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Peter Chukwuemeka Agbonome as the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic). Prof. Agbonome is from the Department of Architecture.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo says his administration has been working on projects that would be bankable and that his government will not borrow for consumption. Soludo refuted claims by a publication online, that Anambra State under his leadership is seeking to borrow two hundred and forty-five-billion-naira. He described the news as fake, stressing that his administration is not aware and has no plan to borrow funds for now.

* Chief Mayor Asiegbu, a Lagos-based lawyer, has threatened to take legal action against Governor Chukwuma Soludo, over the allocation of funds to the 21 local government areas in the state. In a letter, Asiegbu demanded full disclosure of the total sum accrued to the local government areas from the Federation Account Allocation Committee since March 17, 2022. He cited Section 1(1) of the Freedom of Information Act, 2011, which guarantees the right to access information in the custody of public officials or institutions. Asiegbu, a native of Adazi-Ani in Anaocha Local Government Area, alleged that billions of naira have been disbursed to the joint account between the state government and local government areas since Soludo’s administration took office.

* The official dedication of the Allied Building Materials International Market, Nteje was historic as the traders from the Eight Market unions that formed the allied market came out in their numbers to thank God for the amazing works he has done for them. In a remark, the President General, Allied Building Materials International Market, Nteje, Mr Ignatius Ejike commended the leadership and members of the eight Market Unions that comprise Allied Building Materials International Market, Nteje for their commitment that brought them to their promised land, adding that the market unions are Iron Dealers, God’s Favour Building Materials, Trinity/Unity Iron Dealers, and Pipe Dealers Unions.

* The member representing Oyi Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Innocent Ojike, has said that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) victory in the area in the schedule local government election is a “sure bet” because of development strides of Governor Chukwuma Soludo. Ojike stated this at Oyi Local Government APGA office in Nteje after stakeholders’ meeting to determine choice candidate for Chairmanship position in the election, based on zoning formula in the area. Though the stakeholders’ meeting was inconclusive and will be reconvened on a later date, the lawmaker urged his constituents to give support to the Governor in the scheduled local government election to enable him actualize his vision for Ndi Anambra.

* Members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in various wards across Anaocha Local Government Area have participated in the primary elections to elect the parties candidates for Chairman and councillors in the upcoming Local Government Election in Anambra State.
The voting format was option A4 and was conducted peacefully with many of the candidates unopposed. The Transition Committee Chairman of Anaocha Local Government Area, Comrade Rome Ibekwe, while speaking, praised the transformational impact of APGA government in the State and called for continued support for the party in the upcoming local government elections to further enhance development across the state.

* Instead of taskiing his parishioners with levies, the initiator of Philoco Method of Yam Production and the Parish Priest of Holy Family Catholic Parish, Akpo, Aguata LGA, Anambra State, Rev. Fr. Philip Uche Okoye, had on the occasion of the 7th Edition of his Come See Yam Festival, donated over 70 huge yam tubers which each one weighed over 100kg, to the parish. Speaking at the well-attended event held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Akpo, Fr. Okoye, a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Ekwulobia, said he donated the first sets of the yam tubers he harvested from his farms this August, for the completion of the Holy Family Parish Secretariat building project.

* The Faculty of Social Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has held a second successful colloquium. The Colloquium held at the conference room of the Faculty of Social Sciences was titled, “Addressing the Economic Crises in Nigeria and the Imperative for Livelihood Adjustment.” Declaring the event open, Chairman of the occasion and CEO De Geogold Hotels and Suites Awka, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu stated that the essence of the colloquium is for social scientists to converge and proffer solutions to societal problems owing to the present economic situation of the country.

* The Vice President, South East, Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), Engr. David Nwachukwu has said that they will develop 10,000 housing units in the South East Zone as part of effort to address housing deficit challenge confronting the nation. He added that 2,000 housing units will be developed in each of the five states in the zone comprising of Anambra, Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi and Abia. Speaking with newsmen shortly after its inaugural conference in collaboration with Ministry of Housing held at Western Meloch Hotel, Awka, he assured that they are committed to ensuring that the project will be executed in record time.

* Stakeholders from Ezinano Community in Awka South LGA of Anambra State, has attributed poverty and unemployment as the major cause of cult- related violence in the capital city of the State. They noted that if there are availability of jobs for Awka indigenes, particularly for the youth, the situation will be reduced to the barest minimum.
