* A former Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority and erstwhile National Auditor of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Dr George Moghalu has resigned from the party. He dumped the APC after submitting a letter of his resignation dated 26th August, 2024, which he addressed to his Uruagu Ward 1 chairman of APC in Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra state. Moghalu was one of the founding fathers of All Progressives Congress in Nigeria. He was the coordinating secretary that gave birth to the APC during the Merger. He ran for Governorship Ticket on the Party’s Platform on two occasions (2017 and 2021).

* The Transition Committee Chairman of Awka North Local Government Area, Hon. ThankGod Anago has emerged the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA Chairmanship candidate for the forthcoming September 28 Anambra State. This was the outcome of the Awka North APGA primary election held in the 14 political wards in the council area where Mr Anago was returned to represent the party in the forthcoming election through the massive vote of members of the party, after other Chairmanship Aspirants willingly stepped down for him.

* The Traditional Ruler of Umueri in Anambra East Local Government Area, Igwe Dr. Ben Emeka has raised some important concerns about the recently passed South East Development Commission (SEDC) aimed at driving the developmental wheel of the Southeastern region. Speaking with newsmen recently in Awka, Igwe Emeka (JP) commended the National Assembly and President Tinubu for creating and signing the Bill, which marks the creation of a body aimed at reconstructing and rehabilitating infrastructure in the five Southeastern states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo. The monarch expressed optimism that the Commission has the potential to address the long-standing grievances from the Nigeria-Biafra Civil War, which ended over 50 years ago; adding that its establishment is a critical step towards the socio-economic revitalization of the Southeast region, which has faced marginalization since the end of the Civil War in 1970.

* The Umunze community in Orumba South Local Government Area has extolled the efforts of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in all sectors of the state economy, especially in road infrastructure and security of lives and property of the citizenry. In his address at the 2024 General Assembly of Umunze Progressive Union, the President General of the community, Engineer Ezekiel Iheazor said that to complement efforts of the state government on security situation, the community will establish a database to have detailed information about the whole people therein, and called for other measures to address the challenge and save the community from total security collapse.

* The traditional Ruler of Omor in Ayamelum LGA of Anambra State, His Royal Highness, Igwe Chris Oranu Chidume has hailed the agricultural and Infrastructural revolution of Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration which he reckons are notable dividends of democracy. Igwe Chidume lauded Soludo for his agricultural revolution which, he observed, is targeted at high agricultural output, self-sufficiency, local and International markets, poverty alleviation, increased job creation, wealth creation and improved livelihoods.

* The Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, has held its 2024 Annual Leadership Retreat for Officers-in-charge, Headteachers and Directors, Group one, drawn from the six education zones of the state. The retreat held at Okpuno, Awka South Council area, had its theme as, “Education as Panacea for Human Capital Development: Effective and Efficient School Management as Sustaining Factors”.  The Executive Chairman of ASUBEB, Dr. Vera Nwadinobi during an interactive session with the participants described teachers as people who have unimaginable powers and influence over their pupils and students and urged them to use the abilities to teach their learners moral and family values.

* The management and staff of Dominion City Football Academy Achalla Awka North Local Government Anambra State, wish to express its deepest Sympathy and condolences to Heartland Football Club of Owerri, who were involved in a ghastly road accident on Friday, August 23, 2034.
On their way to Abakaliki, Ebonyi State to participate in the Tico /Select preseason tournament, when the heartbreaking incident occurred, which led to the death of coach Christian Obi. In a statement signed by the Chairman, Amaechi Nwakaeze , he expressed shocked over the unfortunate accident which claimed the life of coach Christian Obi, in Umunna near Okigwe,Imo state.

* Anambra State Commissioner For Agriculture, Dr. Forster Ihejiofor has set up a five-man committee to oversee and coordinate distribution of agricultural inputs for no fewer than 1,000 Small Holder Farmers across the state. The formation of the five man committee headed by the State Director, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Arthur Mbuba was the outcome of a  meeting with stakeholders in the agricultural sector held at Ihejiofor’s office. Other members of the committee include; Mrs Ifeyinwa Uzoka, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Secretary, Mr Jude Nwankwo, Programme Manager, Agricultural Development Programme (ADP), Mr Ekene Adokwe, HOD, Planning Research and Statistics and Mrs Margaret Nwoye, HOD, Inputs.

* The Anambra State command of the Nigeria Immigration service says it is fully involved in the State security operations.
The New comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration service in the State, Mr. Godwin Nzeribe who disclosed this when he led some top management of the service in Anambra to a courtesy call on the traditional ruler of Awka Community, Obi Gibson Nwosu maintained that the command is actively involved in the State’s joint task force alongside other security agencies for enhanced security of life and property.

* Anambra state government through
Operation Clean And Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade has apprehended and paraded ten suspected illegal miners who engage in sand mining activity in a government restricted area in Aguleri, Anambra east council of the state. The suspects whose activities have threatened residents and the environment were apprehended by the enforcement team of OCHA Brigade and paraded at its headquarters in Awka. Parading the suspects, the Managing Director of OCHA Brigade, Comrade Celestine Anere, revealed that the said area was sealed off months ago because of the illegal mining activities and dredging that have posed serious environmental dangers to the area and wondered why some individuals are bent on flouting government order.
