# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has flagged off the construction of the Nri-Agbanabo-Nimo road, a project that has been pending for 30 long years!

The 3.2km road will connect Nri in Anaocha LGA to Nimo in Njikoka LGA, opening up new opportunities for ndi Anambra.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo in his speech during the flag-off, said Anambra will continue to witness infrastructure development.

“I am excited turn this promise into a reality. It is a testament to my administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and improving the lives of Anambra State residents.

“This milestone marks the beginning of more development projects in Nri. A new era of progress has begun for our community, and I’m overwhelmed with joy that the Nri community hosted me to a massive endorsement rally after the flagoff, pledging their total support for my reelection come November 8′.

# The Anambra State Police Command wishes to inform the public that its Officers, with the assistance of the Kaduna State Police Command, have arrested John Chinagorom, a suspected kidnapper who has been on the Command’s wanted list.

Anambra Police Spokesperson, SP. Tochukwu Ikenga in a press statement maintained that the arrest follows a credible intelligence received by operatives of the Ozubulu Police Division at noon of 1st August 2025, that the suspect, John Chinagorom, who is linked to a kidnapping Case reported on 15th April 2025, was sighted at PZ Park Road, Zaria, Kaduna State.

“Acting swiftly on the information, a team of Police detectives from the Division was despatched and they successfully apprehended the suspect at his hideout in Zaria, with the assistance of officers of the Kaduna State Police Command.

“The suspect is currently in custody and is assisting the Police in the ongoing investigation.

“Meanwhile, the general security situation across other parts of the State remains calm, as counter-terrorism and other crime prevention operations continue.” Ikenga stated.

# The Chairman of Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, His Royal Majesty Igwe Chidubem Iweka Eze Iweka III of Obosi Ukwalla kingdom has received a prestigious honor from the outgoing Commander, 302 Artillery Cantonment, Col. Adamu Muhammad who described him as not just a respectable king but a father to him.

Presenting the award to His Majesty, Igwe Chidubem Iweka at his palace in the presence of his cabinet chiefs, Col Mohammad who was going for a course to enhance his military career said he would not take for granted the warm welcome and cooperation he enjoyed which helped him to succeed during his stay as the Commander 302 Artillery Cantonment.

In his remarks, Eze Iweka III described the outgoing Commander as a gentleman who assisted both the Anambra State Government and Obosi community in fighting crime and criminality while he was in charge of the Cantonment.

He recounted several joint security operations even he the monarch embarked upon with the joint taskforce military, police, vigilante, NDLEA and NSCDC while raiding criminal hideouts within Obosi community until the security was restored in the vicinity.

# News of the demise of the pioneer Director of Fides Media, Monsignor Jerome Madueke, has sent shock waves across the Catholic Dioceses of Awka and Ekwulobia.

The late priest, a communication expert, was first the Director of Fides Media, Awka, where he was credited with laying the foundation for its success, before moving to the Catholic Diocese of Ekwulobia at its creation, to handle its media arm.

He died on the morning of Tuesday, July 29, at Regina Caeli Hospital, Awka, Anambra State, aged 69.

In his reaction, the man who directly succeeded Msgr Madueke at Fides, Rev Fr Martin Anusi, in his tribute titled, ”The Passing of a Colossus – Msgr Jerome Madueke”, said he was a great blessing to the Church who towered both in physique and intelligence.

# The Hausa community in Anambra State has pledged its support for the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, endorsing him for a second term in office.

This endorsement came during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Industry, Mr. Christian Udechukwu, in Awka.

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Industry was a strategic engagement aimed at fostering unity, dialogue, and cooperation in the state.

Addressing the delegation, Commissioner Udechukwu welcomed the group and emphasized the Soludo administration’s inclusive approach to governance.

# Scrap dealers and scavengers in Anambra State, under the umbrella of Anambra State Scraps Dealers and Scavengers Association (ASSDSA), have declared their unreserved support for Governor Chukwuma Soludo, massively endorsing him for second term in office, ahead of the November 8 governorship election in the state.

The scrap dealers declared their endorsement on during the Association’s leadership monthly meeting involving members of the State Executive and representatives from the twenty-one local government areas of the state, citing the governor’s transformative leadership and inclusive governance style as their primary reason.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the meeting which held in Awka, the State Chairman of ASSDSA, Mr. Azubuike Stephen Igboke, described Governor Soludo as a true leader who has not only recognized the dignity of their labour, but has also given scrap dealers and scavengers in the state a sense of belonging, a strong voice and a legitimate identity.

He announced the group’s unanimous decision to back the governor’s re-election bid with what he termed “one hundred percent endorsement,” pledging the association’s grassroots strength and commitment towards ensuring his victory at the polls.

 

# The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Nov 8, 2025 Governorship Election, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu has berated the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for scrambling to take over the seat of the fallen State’s lawmaker who was victim of the ruling APGAs abysmal security incompetence.

Addressing journalists on his assessment of the situation of things in the state, Prince Ukachukwu faulted APGA for fielding a candidate for the Onitsha North 1 State Constituency’s bye-election of August 16, 2025 to replace late Hon Justice Azuka, who was kidnapped on December 24, while returning to his hometown Onitsha for Christmas celebrations. He was later found murdered many days after.

# Rotary international Club of Onitsha, has donated assorted health care items to Basic Health Center And Maternity, Onitsha for distribution to nursing mothers as part of activities lined up to mark its Maternal and Child Health Care Project.

Items donated during the project themed “Unite For Good” included sanitary pads, baby weighing scale, baby care kits, diapers soaps, wipes and insecticide treated nets.

President of the Club, Rtn Joy Mbadugha, assisted by the Project Service Chairman, Rtn. Kingsley Ndukwu, while presenting the items, said the gesture was to marked her impactful beginning of the service year, Commenting on the mission and values of Rotary International, she encouraged the mothers to prioritize both their health and the wellbeing of their children.

Other intervention measures were, basic Health Screening, and Routine checks such as blood pressure and weight monitoring were provided, with referrals offered where necessary.

# Participants at a one-day Investors’ Forum, have called for a multi-stakeholder action and investment in bamboo value chain development in Anambra State and Nigeria at large.

The people decried the untapped and underutilized benefits of bamboo in the area and the country at large.

The forum themed “Strengthening Investment Opportunities in the Bamboo Value Chain for Sustainable Industrial Growth and Economic Development in Anambra State” was attended by captains of industry, scholars, entrepreneurs, and top government functionaries.

The event held at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, was organized by the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Anambra State Coordinating Office, in collaboration with Sahelian Institute for Bamboo Research and Entrepreneurship Development (SIBRED).

In a keynote lecture, Professor Muyisa Kazimoto, the Vice Chancellor, Open Learning University, Democratic Republic of Congo, identified bamboo as a transformative green resource for Africa’s sustainability agenda.
