# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has declared that Chief Emmanuel Chibuzor Nwachukwu (Onodugo) candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the August 16th Anambra-South senatorial bye-election, will go to the Senate to represent Anambra-South senatorial zone.
Soludo who made the declarative statement at Ekwulobia Township Stadium Aguata Local Government Area during the campaign flag-off of the party’s senatorial candidate cum Anambra-South second term endorsement mega rally for the governor and his deputy at the weekend, said Onodugo is a formidable candidate and best suited for the job.
Soludo revealed that Onodugo is an accountant with multiple professional degrees, a banker, an oil and gas expert, an investment analyst, a consultant and a host of other things.
The Governor said that the party will campaign vigorously for him in every village and every ward in the seven local government areas of Anambra-South senatorial district to ensure that Onodugo is elected overwhelmingly on the 16th of August this year.
# Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) Chairman, Chikelue Iloenyosi has dismissed recent attempts by Iyke Igbokwe to tarnish his image, describing the efforts as “an exercise in futility.”
Iloenyosi, while speaking during his 3rd year anniversary in office, emphasized that Igbokwe, who remains banned from all football-related activities in the state, lacks the moral and legal standing to comment on the administration of football in Anambra.

Chukwuma Soludo’s second term bid by organizing a friendly football match.
The friendly football match, which pitted the Idemili North LGA FC against Aguata LGA FC, took place at the play field of the Union Secondary School, Obosi.
The pulsating and tension-soaked friendly match, which had all the trappings of a Nigerian league match, ended in a barren draw, with Idemili North LGA FC dominating both halves of the match.
Speaking at the football event, Hon. Izuchukwu Okafor, who is the Anambra state commissioner for finance and the special guest of honour at the event, said that the reason for organizing the friendly football match was to galvanize support for Gov. Soludo’s electioneering.
Hon. Okafor, who was fascinated by the splendid and heroic performance of the Aguata LGA FC’s goal tender, gave the goalie a cash gift of twenty thousand naira, in addition to giving two hundred thousand naira each to the two teams.
# The Anambra State Anti-Touting Agency, in collaboration with the Anambra State Board of Internal Revenue (AIRS), has intensified its enforcement operations against illegal levy collection and related criminal activities, leading to the arrest and prosecution of several suspects across the state.
The government continues its clampdown on activities disrupting public order and economic stability.
In a statement following the arrests, the Anambra State Government reiterated its unwavering commitment to law enforcement and the elimination of touting, drug-related offenses, and unauthorized revenue collection. It also urged the public to remain alert and report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
The agency affirmed that more raids are planned in the coming weeks, as part of the administration’s broader objective to sanitize the revenue system and restore public trust in government processes.

Nwachukwu who hails from Ukpor community in Nnewi-South LGA, said Governor Chukwuma Soludo made a statement of faith when he said he would go to the Senate to represent the South senatorial zone because such task required someone with content, capacity and resourcefulness to deliver on the people’s expectations.
# The Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) has officially rolled out plans for the 2025 Football League, unveiling a revamped structure aimed at deepening grassroots football development across the state.

preparations are now in full swing for what promises to be a landmark edition of the league.
The tournament will Kicks-off on Sunday, 24th August 2025 at the Awka City Stadium, by 12:00 PM Prompt.
This year’s competition will debut with a Preliminary Knockout Round, designed to welcome new community teams and football academies into the league structure.
