# The Chairman of Aguata Local Government Area, Dr. Chibueze Ofobuike, has thrown his full weight behind Nigeria National League (NNL), Solution Football Club.

Dr. Ofobuike who is also Chairman of the Association of Local Government Chairmen in Anambra State, gave this support during a strategic partnership and familiarization visit by the Solution FC management team, led by Team Manager Mr. Austin Okoye, as the club intensifies preparations for the 2025/2026 NNL season set to kick off in September 2025.

Dr. Ofobuike, a firm believer in grassroots talent discovery, highlighted his ongoing efforts in sports development within Aguata.

# The Chairman of Njikoka LGA, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba, officially flagged off the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the 5.9-kilometer Abagana–Oye–Nimo Road.

The contract was awarded to Dimension Rocks Limited, a reputable construction firm known for delivering quality road projects within the state.

During the flag-off ceremony, Mayor Ononiba emphasized the importance of the project in enhancing the quality of life for residents and fostering economic growth. He urged the contractors to adhere to the highest standards of quality and to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe.

# Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has presented 500 Anambra women with a business recapitalization grant of N50,000 each to support their existing small businesses.

The empowerment programme, which was a partnership between the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) and the Tony Elumelu Foundation, is economic sustainability package for local businesses and households who depend naturally on such businesses to make better livelihood.

The recapitalization grant, a total sum of twenty-five million naira, was handed out to five hundred pre-selected petty traders, including people with special needs, who were carefully selected from across all the communities in Anambra State.

Speaking shortly before presenting the cash to the beneficiaries, the Anambra governor’s wife, Dr.(Mrs) Nonye Soludo who read the president’s wife letter, noted that economic empowerment programme is about supporting the entrepreneurial spirit of women traders and small-scale business owners who wake up each day determined to provide for their families, educate their children, and uplift their communities.

# The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has described the appointment of Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha as substantive Vice Chancellor (VC) of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, (COOU) Igbariam by Governor Chukwuma Soludo as meritorious, deserving and expected.

Felicitating Prof. Omenugha on her appointment, Rt. Hon. Udeze maintained that the erudite Professor of Mass Communication has distinguished herself as a renowned academic and administrator who has garnered enough experience and has also made significant impact towards the advancement of education in the State and beyond.

The Speaker who recollected the giant strides achieved by Prof. Omenugha in the education sector during her time as Commissioner for education, commended her for initiating digital education in both primary and secondary schools in the State as well as the enforcement of posting of teachers to their various communities of origin among other milestones.

While thanking Governor Soludo for recognizing merit through the appointment of Prof. Omenugha as the substantive Vice Chancellor of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, the Speaker extolled the Vice Chancellor for the wonderful transformation she has recorded in the University while her acting appointment lasted.

The State number one lawmaker, Udeze enjoined the staff of the University to accord Prof.Omenugha the necessary support to enable her maximize her administrative and academic potentials for the growth and development of the Institution.

# In a determined push to strengthen security across Anambra and the entire Southeast, Smart Eagle Security Service has reiterated its readiness to deliver top-notch, professional security services aimed at protecting lives, property, and businesses.

Speaking at a press briefing held in Onitsha, the Chief Executive Officer of the outfit, Hon. Jideofor Innocent Okocha, emphasized that Smart Eagle Security Service was established with a clear mission to stop criminal activities and restore public confidence in the region’s safety.

Describing the organization as a “professional force with a purpose,” Okocha said the firm is strategically positioned to complement government efforts in combating crime.

The CEO highlighted the wide range of security services offered by the outfit, which include protection for hotels, marketplaces, residential and commercial properties, and special events. He stressed that the goal of Smart Eagle Security is not just to respond to crime, but to proactively prevent it and create a crime-free environment across the state.

 

# The Deejays Association of Nigeria (DJAN), South East Zone, has conferred an esteemed Award of Recognition to the
CEO of Nwoke Udi Palmwine Bar, Mazi Ndubuisi Eze for his significant contributions to the cultural landscape of Anambra State and encouraging Disc Jokeys in the zone.

The award ceremony took place during the DJAN South East Zonal Conference held in Awka, the Anambra state capital.

The accolade, presented by the Chairman of the Association, Mr. Chinedu Offia highlights Mazi Ndubuisi Eze’s unwavering commitment to promoting local cuisine and enhancing the social scene through his enterprises.

# The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Anambra State has successfully concluded the passing out ceremony for 1,533 Corps members of the 2024 Batch B Stream 2, marking the end of their one-year mandatory national service.

According to official records, the batch comprised 663 male and 870 female Corps members.

A total of 1,496 Corps members were issued the Certificate of National Service (CNS), the highest symbol of NYSC completion. However, nine Corps members were placed on disciplinary extension of service due to various infractions committed during the service year.

The passing out ceremony, held in a low-key format across all 21 local government areas of the state, featured the issuance of CNS at designated collection points. The decentralized approach aimed to ensure efficiency, reduce congestion, and maintain order across the state.

Highlighting excellence among the corps members, the NYSC Anambra State Secretariat presented special awards and commendations to a select group of Corps members who distinguished themselves through outstanding performance, dedication, and community impact.

The State Coordinator, Mrs. Pauline Ojisua, in her remarks congratulated all outgoing Corps members for their discipline, resilience, and contributions to community development during their service year. She encouraged them to remain patriotic ambassadors of the scheme and to apply the skills and values gained during service as they step into the next chapter of their lives.

# Anambra State Task Force on Human Trafficking has warned school children and teachers to be wary of juicy offers which human traffickers often use to lure unsuspecting victims.

Members of the task force gave the warning when they took the sensitization programme to two schools: Modebe Memorial Primary School, and Saint Patricks Secondary School, Odume Obosi,

Speaking, Mrs Martins Mmaju, urged children to seek counsel when offers are made to them either by close relations or strangers.

# In a strategic move to strengthen the political base of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Njikoka LGA, the immediate past chairmen of the 18 wards of Njikoka, under the leadership of Comr. Osondu Ozumba, held a vital interactive meeting with the Mayor of Njikoka LGA, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba.
