* The Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye, has come up with Free Holiday Lessons for students in his constituency of Awka South two. Speaking, the Deputy Speaker said the lessons would be taking place at Amawbia Community Primary School between 1 and 2: pm daily and would be handled by teachers and corps members. The programme is tagged ”Amawbia Free Secondary School Holiday Programme”, and will run from August 5th to 30th.

* The Senator Representing Anambra North Senatorial District,g Senator Dr Tony Nwoye has expressed sadness over the death of Dr Amachukwu Ezike, who was his Running mate in 2013 Governorship Election in Anambra State.
Nwoye, in a statement he personally signed, noted that it was devastating receiving the shocking news of Dr Amachukwu Ezike death, describing it as a not just a monumental and personal loss to him, it is also a huge loss to the good people of Nanka and Ndi Anambra.

* The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP. Nnaghe Obono Itam has held a meeting with Vigilante Groups and other security outfits in Nnewi North at the Local Government Secretariat Headquarters. CP Itam in his speech commended the Vigilante Groups and Security Outfits for their commitment, dedication, and selfless service in assisting the Police to prevent crime. He urged the operatives to maintain unity and avoid being used against one another, especially in the communities they are meant to protect. The CP also pledged greater cooperation from officers and men of the Command.

* Anambra State government has explained how it averted protest in the state, at a time when the #EndBadGovernance protesters destroyed several government facilities across the country. Convener of Youths Earnestly Support Soludo (YESS), a political pressure group, Dr. Nelson Omenugha who is Special Adviser to the governor on youth Empowerment stated this during an Empowerment workshop organized by the group in Awka, the state capital.

* Anambra governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has offered a full-time scholarship to master Chukwuemeka Nwuzor, the eight-year-old mathematics genius from
Nibo in Awka South Local Government Area, who was captured in a viral video sometime ago. Mrs. Soludo who announced the award after meeting the boy and his family, said that the scholarship is for the child’s complete education in the best schools from primary to any level he wants to attain in life. Master Chukwuemeka was seen in a video that has now gone viral, giving correct answers to different mathematical questions, including solving advanced formulas and numerical equations.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo will on Thursday, 8th August, 2024 flagg off the phase two of the entrepreneurship programme for more youths to be empowered in Anambra State. The Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Patrick Agha Mba announced the development in Awka where he revealed that the second phase is expected to train and empower 8000 youths with 620 training centers carefully chosen across the 326 political wards in Anambra State. Mr Agha Mba promised that the second phase will be community driven with improved services, proper monitoring and evaluation for the objective of the programme to be well achieved.

* The Anambra State Government, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Coca Cola Foundation and some other foreign and local agencies are set for a partnership stakeholders meeting where resolutions would be reached on removal of plastics from the waterways to guard against blockages and floodings. Speaking to newsmen in his office at the Government House Awka, Managing Director of the Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA) Mr. Mike Ozoemena, said the meeting which is scheduled for Thursday, will amongst other numerous salient issues deliberate on how best to keep the State clean and healthy devoid of degradations.

* A Computer Engineer and illustrious son of Nnobi, High Chief Jude Anyichie has unveiled an academic based Foundation to prepare 30 science students who are about to take WAEC and Jamb after their Senior Secondary School education at Nnobi, Idemili South LGA, Anambra State.
Jude Anyichie Foundation (JAF) with the slogan ‘Transforming lives through Education and Creating a brighter future for all’ believes that Education is the most powerful weapon which one can use to change the world and make it a better place. * The Commissioner of Police Anambra Command CP Nnaghe Obono Itam has received Prof. Sylvia Chika Ifemeje, the Anambra State Attorney-General and the Commissioner for Justice on a familiarization visit to his Office at Police Command Headquarters, Awka. In his speech, the CP notes that the ministry is one of the relevant actors in the administration of the justice system in Nigeria and seeks a continuous working relationship with the Ministry of Justice.

* The Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Sen. Dr. Tony Nwoye has commiserated with the Chairman of Labour Party, Anambra State Chapter, Chief Emmanuel Ugochukwu Emeh and his family over the sudden death of his only son. The distinguished Senator commiserates with Family, friends, relations, and Political associates of Chief Ugochukwu Emeh over the loss of the promising young boy, saying that the demise of the young boy is particularly touching, because, as a father, he knows the emotional impact of losing a loved one, most especially an only son.
