* The Transition Committee Chairman of Anaocha Local Government Area, Hon. Rome Ibekwe has flagged off a skill acquition training programme at the Council Headquarters, Neni. The beneficiaries who were drawn from all the wards in Anaocha, will undergo a six months training after after which they will be empowered. The will be trained in tailoring, cosmetology and makeup, footwear making, catering, decorations, cosmetology, ICT, solar energy installation.
* The member representing Anambra West Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Patrick Obalum-Udoba says that the “farm to feed” agricultural campaign launched by Governor Chukwuma Soludo yesterday will bring about food security and sufficiency in the State. Speaking to newsmen in Awka, Hon. Udoba noted that the agricultural revolution of the present administration in the state will help Ndi Anambra to survive the current food crisis in Nigeria. The lawmaker, who is the Deputy Chief Whip of the House, explained that the Farm to Feed Campaign by Governor Soludo has opened a door that will guarantee and sustain food sufficiency in Anambra, as well as enhance the living standards of the citizenry.
* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has said that two former Governors of the State, Chief Willie Obiano and Dr.Chris Ngige have made impressive marks in the development of the State during their tenures. Felicitating Chief Willie Obiano as he marks his 69th birthday, in a goodwill message signed by Mr Emma Madu, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker,
Rt. Hon. Udeze noted that in addition to achieving some signature projects like the Anambra International Airport and International Conference Centre, Governor Obiano empowered a lot of Ndi Anambra and also improved the security situation of the State. In the same vein, Rt. Hon. Udeze has described former Governor Chris Ngige as an accomplished medical doctor, renowned public administrator and selfless politician whose tenure recorded an unprecedented development in road infrastructure, health care delivery, security as well as general welfare of the people among others.
* The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command has arrested a suspect impersonating Nigerian Navy personnel and engaging in fraudulent activities in Anambra State. The suspect, Chukwugozirim Christian, a 39-year-old male from Nnobi in the Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, was apprehended at Kwata Junction in Awka on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024 by NSCDC operatives on a routine visibility patrol. Preliminary investigations uncovered that the suspect, Chukwugozirim Christian, had been masquerading as a naval officer, duping innocent civilians and engaging in a string of criminal activities.
* Executives of South East Electricity Consumers Association (SEECA), Anambra State Chapter led by their Chairman; Comrade Okechukwu Ferdinand Cyril-Nwuche Ph.D, paid a courtesy visit the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Somtochukwu Udeze at his office in Awka. Comrade Cyril-Nwuche while speaking said the essence of the visit is to officially invite the Speaker and Members of the 8th Anambra State House of Assembly to the upcoming 1st South East Stakeholders Electricity Summit.
* Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Commerce, Trade, and Industry has summoned the former Chairman of Iron Dealers Union Market, Atani Road, Ogbaru, Mr. Nnaemeka Onuzuluike, to appear before the Committee on Monday, 12th August 2024 at 11 am, to clarify alleged issues regarding the purchase and development of the Iron Dealers’ new site market and other related matters. The Committee Chairman and Member representing Oyi Constituency at the State House of Assembly, Hon. Innocent Ojike issued the summons while addressing the executive members of the market. Ojike noted that despite being invited on multiple occasions by the Committee, Mr. Onuzuluike has failed to appear without providing any reason for his absence.
* The Disability Rights Commission (DRC), Anambra State says it will intensity efforts to bring Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s Solution Vision to persons with disabilities in 326 political wards in the state. This will include appointment of Commission Liaison Officers (CLO) across 21 Local Government Areas of the state, 179 communities in the state and 326 wards in the state. Briefing newsmen in Awka on the Quarterly Meeting of the Commission, the Chairman of the Commission, Barr Chuka Ezewuzie said this will be achieved through collaboration and regular communication with the TC chairmen, traditional rulers, religious leaders, president generals and town union executives.
* The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has expressed warm congratulations to his predecessor, His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano, on the joyous occasion of his 69th birthday. In a statement celebrating the former distinguished banker and politician who governed Anambra State from 2014 to 2022, Governor Soludo commended Chief Obiano for his exemplary leadership and passion for the progress of Anambra State. Soludo also congratulated a former Governor of the State, His Excellency, Dr. Chris Nwabueze Ngige, on the occasion of his 72nd birthday. Soludo lauded Senator Ngige as a distinguished leader whose contributions to the development and progress of Anambra State remain indelible.
* The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Anambra State Chapter seek collaboration with Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) in the promotion of Road Safety in Awka Anambra State Capital. The group ably led by the Chairperson Comrade Tochukwu Ifejika said the visit was first to welcome the new Sector Commander, CC Joyce Nnennaya Alexander, who assumed duty as the 15th substantive Sector Commander in the state who took over from CC Adeoye A Irelewuyi and also a gesture of support and goodwill to foster a closer working relationship between NAWOJ and FRSC aimed at promoting road safety. Comrade Ifejika also noted that within the vision and mission of the association’s professional sorority, to identify, promote, and support great women graced with innate and professional capacities to permeate the world, that NAWOJ deemed it proper to identify with her kind.
* Anambra Civil Society Network (ACSONet), a citizens advocacy and good governance group, has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State for inaugurating the state’s Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC). Reacting to the development, leader of ACSONet, Prince Chris Azor, said the move is commendable, adding that it was a step in the right direction.
