* Anambra government has warned armed robbers, bag snatchers, touts, cultists and kidnappers planning to operate anywhere in the State especially this yuletide to retrace their steps as Government is determined to ensure a fun-filled Christmas and New Year celebrations for Ndi-Anambra returning this season and those resident in the State. A release signed by the state Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu advised them to leave Anambra State, otherwise they will celebrate the Yuletide in handcuffs and shackles.

* Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Anambra State Council has slated December 14, 2023 to celebrate the State’s rich cultural heritage in grand style. The festival tagged ‘Culture: Catalyst for Igbo Unity, Collective Advancement and Global Resurgence,’ the event being organised by the Culture and Royalty Committee (CRC) of the NUJ in partnership with Kasie Communications, an Event, Media and PR firm, holds at the Godwin Ezeemo International Press Centre which is behind the Central Bank of Nigeria headquarters by 12 noon.

* Nigerian Institute of Building, Anambra State Chapte has held its annual general meeting and conference. The event with the theme “Consolidating the gains in the fight against building collapse in the Nigerian built environment: the missing links”, and sub-theme, “The synergy of construction professionals in fighting building collapse”, was held at Jerome Udorji State Secretariat Awka.

* Akwa-Ibom born Mrs Imabong William, who was hospitalised over three months ago after her landlady poured hot water mixed with pepper on her, has appealed to Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo and his Wife for assistance to save her life. The incident, which led to her present predicament happened at Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area  on August. 17, 2023 and the landlady, Amaka Okonkwo, is currently in police custody for  allegedly pouring hot water mixed with pepper on her over a disagreement on rent increment.

* The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra State ICT Agency, Mr Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata has called for positive use of the internet, stating that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will determine how people live in the future. Agbata stated this while delivering a lecture at the 113th National Executive Council/Delegates Meeting of the University of Nigeria Alumni Association (UNAA) in Onitsha. The ICT agency boss who was a guest lecturer at the meeting spoke in the theme: “Digital Citizenship and the Emergent Digital Economy in Nigeria: Trends, Challenges, Prospects, and the Way Forward Towards Restoration of Human Dignity”.

* The President General, Building Materials International Market, BMIM Ogidi, Chief Jude Nwankwo has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State on the massive road construction and rehabilitation in various parts of the state including the operation zero potholes launched to take off simultaneously in the 21 Local Government Areas to ensure hitch-free ride during the Christmas season. Speaking in his office at BMIM, Ogidi, Chief Nwankwo who is also the Anambra State Market Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA) Patron commended Soludo for awarding up to 400 km of roads and for having completely executed more than half of the projects.

* The opposing presidential candidate of the Anambra State Chapter of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, election, Comrade Victor Muo, has said the purported reelection of Comrade Chikwelu Adigwe as president to pilot the affairs of the union in the next four years lacks legality. Comrade Muo, who spoke to the press in Awka following the outcome of the union’s state quadrennial conference held at its secretariat in Awka, pointed out what he described as several irregularities that marred the conference, which, he said, made him to stage a walkout during the election.

* The need to stand with Jesus Christ was the crux of the message delivered to traders at the one-day prayer crusade organized by Anambra State Markets Evangelism Coordinators Committee, ANSMECC. The crusade which is an annual programme to mark the end of year held at Electrical Dealers International Market, Obosi was well attended by market leaders and traders from different markets in the State.

* Wife of the governor of Anambra State Mrs. Nonye Soludo says stronger institutions and increased investment in human capital development are key factors in defeating the menace of trafficking in persons. Anambra First Lady who is the founder of the non-governmental crusade, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo stated this in Awka at a public awareness programe on prevention of trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants, explained that tackling poverty, providing social and economic opportunities and strengthening existing institutions would help win the fight against human trafficking.
