* No fewer than 42 appointees of the former Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano have died within two years of leaving office. This was disclosed during the meeting of the ex-appointees at Best Western Meloch Hotels Ifite Awka. The former appointees lamented that 42 of their members had died without receiving their severance allowances. As a consequence, they appealed to the incumbent governor of the state, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, to facilitate the payment of their severance allowances.

* In order to ensure sanity and orderliness in the Anambra state capital, the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) has issued an ultimatum to all those trading along the roads in the state capital and obstructing both human and vehicular movements to as a matter of urgent public importance evacuate them on or before 15th December or face dire consequences. The MD/CEO of ACTDA, Hon. David Osita Onuko, who gave the ultimatum in a press statement said his agency will not temper justice with mercy should the 15th December deadline elapse, emphasizing that defaulters have been forewarned by his press statement cum public notice. 

* The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, has extended his warmest congratulations to Barr. Mrs. Lizzy Nwokocha the APGA National Women Leader, on her birthday. In his message, Ezeokenwa expressed admiration and appreciation for Nwokocha’s unwavering commitment and dedicated service to the party. He described her as an influential and exceptional party woman who possesses remarkable leadership qualities, earning her respect and admiration from party members and individuals from diverse backgrounds alike.

* Anambra State Police command has confirmed the killing of operatives of local vigilante in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area, in a nightclub, Porsche. Spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed this to newsmen.

* The Anambra state Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Sir Ifeatu Obi-Okoye has identified with the people of Ichida, Anaocha Local Government Area, living in Warri, Delta State as they hosted themselves and friends to a party to mark the end of 2023 and also investiture of patrons. Addressing the gathering, Obi-Okoye said his visit to Warri was to show solidarity with the Ichida people, and to one of the major APGA stakeholders, Chief Inno-Posh Chikezie who was honoured as Patron, Ichida Progress Union, Warri branch. According to Chief Obi-Okoye, the investiture is a testament of Ochendo’s commitment to the growth of Ichida and thanked the people of Ichida for the honour, saying the initiative will encourage positive competition and growth among the people.

* In a bid to keep the State clean in preparation for the festive season and in readiness for the burial of the father Governor Chukwuma Soludo, scheduled to hold on the 23rd of December 2023, the Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA) says that the reinvigorated monthly sanitation exercise will hold on Saturday, December 16th 2023. In a press release Signed Mr Mike Ozoemena MD/CEO ASWAMA stated that the reason it was brought farward is to enable us clean the state and prepare for the influx of our people as well as investors coming into the State for the Yuletide season.

* The operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, have arrested four persons for indulging in a criminal activity capable of causing total blackout in the Chinua Achebe International Cargo and Passenger Airport, Umueri. The suspects, aged between 20 to 37, were said to have been arrested in Awka, the State capital early this week, following a tip-off from a concerned citizen who informed the Corps of the criminal activity of the suspects.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has lauded Anambra state football team for their recent victory in the Nigeria National League, NNL Championship. ANN reports that the team, Solution Football Club, coasted to victory in their last game with one goal after a tense and thrilling match against Osun United who could not equalize. The Governor praised the team for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence, and their impressive performance in the outing.

* Anambra State Government has expressed readiness to adopt and localize the Nigeria startup act aimed at providing legal framework for the tech industry in the State. It will also assist youths in the ICT sector develop entrepreneurship with their innovations. ANN gathered that The Nigeria Startup Act Is a national legal and policy framework that seeks to create an enabling environment for technology-enabled startups and entrepreneurs in Nigeria. The Act provides for establishing innovation hubs, startup fund, technology parks, and other support structures.
