* The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo says all christians are one in the body of Christ and should always live out that essence.
Governor Soludo stated this at Assemblies of God Church, Fegge, Onitsha during commissioning of the Assemblies of God Cathedral and Evangel Solution Fountain School.

The Governor expressed the belief that ecumenism will aid value addition, stressing that in Anambra, his administration does not care where anyone worships.

He recalled how his government recruited 8115  teachers without the basis of religion, state of origin or social stratification, laying emphasis on competence and value addition.

* The Executive Chairman Idemili North Local Government Area Chief Stanley Nkwoka has embarked on Beautification projects at the Enugu/Onitsha Expressway- Flyover Nkpor and Nkpor Junction roundabout in preparation of the Christmas yuletide.

The beautification project commenced Tuesday with a comprehensive environmental sanitation and excavation of loose sands around and on top of the flyover which will be followed by the painting of the flyover brick railings to give the environment a facelift.

During an inspection visit at the Express Flyover Nkpor Nkwoka frowned at the slow pace of sanitation workers urging the Environment Committee Chairman to engage more laborers and a tipper driver to pack out the dirts and loose sands on and around the bridge.

* The Managing Director of Rock-Link Real Estate, Awka, Chief Kingsley Obika has promised to continue to support youths through various empowerment

Obika gave the assurance when he received leaders of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in Awka

Obika said the company was sponsoring football clubs and offering free training to youths in real estate business to enable them earn money while pursuing their education.

According to him, Rock-Link Real Estate is not just about selling land or making a profit, our mission is to raise disciplined youths and give back to society in meaningful ways.

* Citizens of Anambra State have been urged to take advantage of innovations contained in the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) 2022, which are meant to address all obstacles to speedy dispensation of justice in the area.

A chief Magistrate, Dr. Mike Anyadiegwu, made the appeal during an interaction with non-state actors organized by Justice Development and Peace/Caritas, (JDPC), Onitsha, supported by the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC) programme, implemented by International IDEA and funded by European Union, to raise awareness on the provisions of ACJL, for improved justice delivery in the area.

According to Anyadiegwu, the law now permits police officers who are not lawyers to prosecute offenders in courts, while also giving vigilante operatives the power of arrest just like any other private citizen of Nigeria.

* Anambra State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, has urged parliamentary staff to imbibe the spirit of service, unity, and hope as they reflect on the lessons of Christmas.

Rt. Hon. Udeze while speaking during the 2024 Christmas Carols and Nine Lessons organized by the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, Anambra State Chapter on Wednesday, emphasized the significance of the occasion in strengthening bonds and renewing commitment to service.

In his remarks, the Clerk of the Assembly, Mr. Anthony Ughenu, described the event as a time for reflection and renewal and noted that such gatherings offer an opportunity for the parliamentary staff to rekindle their dedication to duty and strengthen their bonds as a team working towards the progress of the state.

Earlier in his address, the PASAN Chairman, Mr. Abraham Okoye highlighted the importance of the Carols and Nine Lessons event as an opportunity to foster unity and shared purpose among the parliamentary staff and expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Assembly for their support.

* The Deputy Vice Chancellor of St Paul’s University Awka, Professor Chinyere Stella Okunna has been decorated as the ‘Mother General’ of Angel Network News (ANN) Chapel.

Prof. Okunna, an ICON of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Anambra State Council and the first female Professor of Mass Communication in Sub-sahara Africa, was honoured during the end of the year meeting of ANN Chapel.

The Secretary of NUJ, Anambra State Council, Comrade Aloysius Ofodile before the decoration held at ANN head office in Udoka Housing Estate Awka, said Prof. Okunna has contributed immensely to the growth and development of the union.

Onyebuchi Ndubisi while speaking, described Prof. Stella Okunna as an acomplished scholar and Matriarch of NUJ who has distinguished her self and is a role model to many’.

Responding Professor Stella Okunna in her remarks expressed gratitude for the honors, stating that the decoration as ‘Mother General’ will propel her to do more.

* President-General of Building Materials International Market, Ogidi in Idemili North LGA, Chief Jude Nwankwo has been recognized and honoured by Anambra State Markets Evangelism Coordinators Committee (ANSMECC), for his outstanding leadership qualities, support for the poor and the gospel, among other virtues.

ANSMECC honoured Nwankwo during the occasion of the 2024 end of year prayer rally and crusade organized in collaboration with traders in the building materials market.

State Coordinator of ANSMECC, Bro. Silvanus Analike, said that Chief Jude Nwankwo’s unquenchable taste and support for the gospel, his amiable leadership quality and style, as well as his role in championing the welfare of the poor and the needy, fetched him the honour.

* Barrister Amara Muojeke has been sworn in as the new Chairperson, International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA Nigeria, Anambra State Branch.

Muojeke, an Assistant Chief State Counsel, Anambra State Ministry of Justice Awka, on Thursday alongside other members of FIDA executives, took oath of office.

In her address at the event held at FIDA office in Awka, Bar. Muojeke assured that she and her team will spare no effort in upholding the ideals and principles of FIDA in their service to humanity.

She noted that “FIDA Anambra has consistently been at the forefront of advancing the rights and welfare of women and children in the state, by providing free legal representation to victims of gender-based violence and organizing community outreaches, thereby giving human face to the principles members hold dear.

* A bill for a law to establish and regulate Anambra State Correctional Service, to ensure humane and effective management of offenders, to provide for the administration of Custodial and non Custodial services in the state and for connected purposes has been red for the second time at the Anambra State House of Assembly.

The Majority Leader, Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme while leading the debate lamented over the ill treatment been done to individuals inside the Correctional center.

Ofodeme who is the member representing Ekwusigo Constituency said duo to over population, the essence of creating Correctional which is a rehabilitation center are not been achieved.

Anambra Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze who presided plenary, said this is the right time for the state to take charge of Correctional centers. He maintained that more states are trying to build up a concensus. He referred the bill to a joint committee on Judiciary and Justice, and committee on Homeland and Boundary Affairs who were giving four weeks to report back to the house.

* The Bishop of Awka Catholic Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor, says the Church ventured into education for the integral formation of human beings with a focus on the spiritual aspect of life, while taking care of the Academic Development of the child.

The prelate admonished parents to make a right choice, as regards schools for their children, reiterating the importance of the moral aspect of children’s, lives without which, he said, their academic excellence would leave much to be desired.

Bishop Ezeokafor was on a pastoral visit to St Anthony’s Catholic Comprehensive Institute, Agulu in Anaocha Local Government Area, Anambra State, on Friday, 22nd November 2024, where he blessed the Biology and Chemistry Laboratories equipped with modern facilities for 21st Century Education.
