# In a heart-warming display of generosity and commitment to the welfare of his people, the Mayor of Dunukofia Local Government, Hon. Chijioke C. Ozumba distributed more than 600 bags of rice to workers and key security agencies across the council area.

This annual Christmas gesture reached staff of the Dunukofia Local Government Council, police officers, civil defence personnel, officers of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Local Government Education Authority, local security outfits, and casual workers.

The atmosphere was jubilant as excited workers sang joyfully and applauded the Mayor’s benevolence and unwavering commitment to their welfare. Many expressed heartfelt appreciation, offering prayers for God’s continued blessings upon his administration.

Reaffirming his dedication to the people, Hon. Ozumba assured workers that he would continue celebrating Christmas with them throughout his tenure, emphasizing that their wellbeing remains one of his top priorities.

# Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Anambra State Chapter has bestowed awards of recognition on Tony Oli, Immediate past Chairman of Anambra State Sports Development Commission, Dr Chukwudi Njelita,Chief Medical Director of Rock Foundation Hospital.

Others on the list of awardees included Anambra State Commissioner of Police,
CP Ikioye Orutugu, Chukwudi Oli, Obinna Ezema

The award night under the Chairmanship of Dr Paul Nwosu, Publisher of AlphaTimes Media was the grand finale of year 2025 SWAN WEEK, which also featured lectures.

The ceremony held at East End Hotels Awka, had the theme “Sudden Death Phenomenon: Why Fitness Alone Is Not Enough, with the sub theme, “Positioning Anambra For Multi Million Dollar Sports Economy”

# Anambra State has reinforced its reputation as a frontrunner in technology-driven governance, securing four prestigious awards at the 13th National Council on Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (NCCIDE) meeting.

The conference took place at Jos’s Crispan Suite & Event Centre, marking another landmark achievement for the southeastern region in the country’s evolving digital space.

Themed “Accelerating Inclusive Digital Transformation: Bridging Gaps and Fostering Sustainable Growth Through Innovation,” the gathering featured key players from federal and state sectors, industry experts, and innovators.

A major highlight of the gathering was the States Innovation Peer Review Session (PRS), a forum where individual states showcased breakthroughs in technological advancement and governance improvements. This platform encouraged mutual learning and partnership among the participants. Anambra stood out with compelling presentations that underscored its strategic use of information and communication technologies to enhance public services.

Following the presentations, Anambra was awarded the Best Overall State in ICT Development and recognized as the Best State in the nurturing of ICT Human Capital. Moreover, it earned 2nd Runner-Up honors in both Infrastructure Development and eGovernment Implementation, illustrating a well-rounded digital transformation agenda across multiple facets.

# The Police-Led Joint Security Team comprising Operatives from Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu and Agunechemba, acting on credible intelligence, arrested two suspects, who are members of the syndicate responsible for providing food and other essential logistics to a criminal group linked to secessionist activities within the Camp located around Orsumoghu and Aguluezechukwu.

The Operatives also recovered one (1) Type 06 rifle with ten (10) rounds of live ammunition, two (2) pump-action guns, and twenty (20) live cartridges.

The suspects include Mmadubuchi Ike ‘M’, 28 years old and Chinonso Izunobi ‘M’, 34 years old respectively. Upon interrogation, information linked the suspects’ involvement in serious offences, including the murder of a youth leader popularly known as “Biggy” in Ukpor and series of kidnapping incidents across the State.

# The Anambra State Police Command wishes to clarify that no journalist was detained at any point.

But that the personnels who were on duty
at the Anambra State House of Assembly, merely observed standard security protocols by confirming the individual’s identity and the authenticity of his invitation to the Anambra State House of Assembly facility.

This procedure is routine, non-punitive, and aimed solely at ensuring the safety and integrity of the facilities and personnel.

Also, further inquiry made reveals that the individual who invited the journalist is not a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly or staff of the institution but was also there on the invitation of the revered institution.

Ikenga Tochukwu, in a release maintained that “the Command remains committed to maintaining a cordial and professional relationship with members of the press and continues to value their role as critical partners in promoting public safety and accountability.

# In a coordinated operation, Police Operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Awkuzu, working with Police personnel from Neni Divisional Headquarters on a follow-up investigation into a case of conspiracy and armed robbery, successfully arrested five male suspects in connection with vandalism and theft at an International Company located at Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The operatives recovered one (1) pump action gun, ten (10) live cartridges, and one (1) black motorcycle.

The suspects are: Okemili Chikwado – 20 years, Collins Nwakpa – 23 years, Chukwuemeka Igboke – 18 years, Nwali Chinedu – 18 years, and Ekene Nwakwo – 22 years respectively.

Upon arrest and subsequent interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime and named one Arinze as their major receiver of the stolen properties.

# The ongoing construction of the Nimo to Oraukwu road is progressing rapidly, reflecting the commitment of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration to improving infrastructure across Anambra State.

The project, which connects several communities within the Njikoka axis, is seen as a strategic move to enhance transportation, ease movement, and boost economic activities in the area.

Residents and commuters along the route have expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, commending the Governor for its focus on rural and intra-state community roads.

As the construction continues, hopes are high that the project will be completed on schedule and serve as a lasting benefit to the good people of Nimo, Oraukwu, and neighbouring towns.

# The Association of Motor Dealers in Anambra State (AMDAS) has organised its third annual workshop with a call for synergy between the association and relevant government authorities in protecting the rights of car dealers, as well as in the fight against car theft in the state.

In an address, the Chairman of the association, Dr. Okenwa Bosah, reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that members adhere to due process in their business dealings, explaining that the event, with the theme “Due Diligence: A Fight Against Car Theft in Anambra State,” was organised to awaken the consciousness of members towards maintaining integrity.

Speaking, the Secretary of the association, Mr. Nzubechukwu Obiorah, said the leadership of AMDAS is committed to protecting members and building a friendly ecosystem for car dealers in Anambra State, and advised dealers who are yet to identify with the organisation to do so in their own interest.

The Legal Adviser of the association, Barrister Petermaximus, who presented a paper on the theme of the event, encouraged members to always carry out thorough verification before closing any deal to avoid preventable theft-related cases.

Some guests at the workshop, in their various remarks, warned members against carelessness and greed in business, which they identified as major causes of post-sale challenges faced by car dealers, commended the leadership of the association for efforts aimed at protecting members and making Anambra State better, and pledged partnership for greater achievements.
