* Professor Chukwuma Soludo has awarded fifty million naira (₦50 million) to five hundred (500) beneficiaries of the Anambra State Chapter of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) Skill Acquisition programme. Soludo disclosed this when PFN held a rededication ceremony for Jesus Our Physician Specialist Hospital (JOPH) and graduation ceremony for the beneficiaries of their skill programme in Amawbia. The Governor assured the beneficiaries of access to funding from cooperatives, highlighting the PFN’s vital role in empowering the youth and contributing to the state’s development.
* The Government of Anambra State wishes to bring to the notice of the general public that the Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise earlier announced to hold on December 16, 2023, restricting Vehicular and human movements by the Anambra State Waste Management Authority, ASWAMA, was not authorized by the State Government. Consequently, the state government is urging the citizens to disregard the announcement, and should please go about their normal daily businesses. In a release from Mr. Christian Aburime, Press Secretary To The Governor, The government however apologizes for any inconvenience the misleading announcement may have caused the general public.
* Professor Chukwuma Soludo mourns the passing of former Governor of Anambra State late Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, CON, who died on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at the age of 85 years. ANN reports that late Ezeife passed on at the Federal Medical Centre, Abuja. In a release from Mr. Christian Aburime, Press Secretary to Anambra State Governor, Soludo describe Ezeife as a scholar, a visionary, and a man of deep compassion, his gentle demeanour and thoughtful counsel endeared him to all, regardless of political affiliation.
* The Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim has charged Nigerians especially Christians to use the period of Advent to renew their faith and trust in God.
Speaking in Awka, Ibezim who described Advent as the New calendar year of the church, reminded the faithful of the need to maintain the standard of God in their living. He charged Ministers of God to always preach the gospel undiluted instead of that of prosperity and convenience.
* The Anambra State Government has shut down Good Health Hospital and Maternity Osumenyi, Nnewi South Council Area. The Director of Medical Services Anambra State Ministry of Health, Dr Chukwulobelu Ugochukwu who led a team to seal the facility said the hospital is illegal and was involved in quackery.
ANN gathered that the team also met some girls wearing uniform as nurses who said they were trained by the owner of the hospital and refused to disclose his name.
* Hotel and eatery joints operating in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State have been cautioned against harbouring criminals who use their bases to launch criminal attacks on individuals and organisations.
Oba is gradually assuming the position of a cosmopolitan city as a gateway to two commercial towns of Onitsha and Nnewi. The community also plays host to travelers plying Owerri and other communities in Imo State, Abia and other South/South States.
* Motorists and vehicle owners have been advised to desist from selling their vehicles together with the number plates. The Head of New Vehicle Information Statement (NVIS), Awka Plant, CC Oko Etuali gave the advice while speaking with newsmen in Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area during a hangout with the media, organized by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Anambra State Command.
Etuali, who highlighted the various dangers associated with selling one’s vehicle together with its plate number, also reminded the public that any criminal activity traced to any vehicle sold with its number plate would be traced to its original owner, whether committed by him or not.
* The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili North local government area, Chief Chuksbrown Igboanua says that the bags of rice distributed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo to over three hundred thousand households in Anambra State as palliative will ameliorate the sufferings of the downtrodden. Chief Igboanua made this known while commending Governor Soludo for showing concern to the plight of the people. The Idemili North Local Government Chairman who described the gesture as palliative measures to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy on Ndi Anambra urged the beneficiaries of the project to use it for the purpose it was meant for.
