* Professor Chukwuma Soludo has meet with former Anambra political appointees who served in the immediate past regime. Soludo in his speech at the gathering held at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre, Awka, re-echoed the core value behind the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA. ANN reports that the meeting was aimed at amicably resolving the issues concerning the political appointees who felt neglected and abandoned.

* Five persons have been collated Archdeacons, two others installed canons and eight persons invests knights of St. Christopher and Ladies in the Diocese of Niger West. Performing the function at the Cathedral Church of St Gabriel Umueri, the bishop of the Diocese, Right Reverend Johnson Ekwe advised them to diligently do the work of God to the best of their ability, noting that elevation to the post of Archdeacon is an encouragement for more work which calls for more dedication and commitment.

* The member representing Awka South one constituency at the Anambra state house of assembly, Honourable Henry Nigeria Mbachu, gave out cash to market women in Perm Site Market, Ukwuorji, Awka, to support their petty trading activities. Hon. Mbachu who spoke to journalists after the exercise recently, said that the gesture was part of his legislative agenda to reduce poverty, restore hope to many families, and promote the growth of small businesses in Awka South one Constituency, especially in the wake of the economic crisis caused by the removal of subsidies on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) by the Federal Government in May 2023.

* Anambra governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo has visited more children’s homes in continuation of her Christmas tour to all the children’s homes and nursing homes in the state. 

The governor’s wife visited three facilities in Onitsha to bring to eight the total number of children’s homes and special need centres visited so far among the thirty-nine she plans to visit before Christmas. The three homes visited were Onitsha South Motherless Babies Home, Gift of Mercy Community Children’s Home, Onitsha and Onitsha North Community Children’s Home.

* Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, Archbishop, Province of the Niger has ordained eight priests of Awka Anglican Diocese. The new priests who were ordained at the Cathedral Church of St Faith are; Reverend Echezona Okanime, Aguegbo Edozieuno, Maduabuchi Alagbu, Chukwudire Ezeiruka, Uchenna Ezeonyi, Arinzechukwu Ikegbo, Chinonso Muogbo and Augustine Owolu.

Ibezim while examining the new priests, told them to proclaim by word and deed the gospel of Jesus Christ and to fashion their lives in accordance with its precepts and to love and serve the people among whom they work.

* The Onitsha South Council Chairman, Hon Emeka Orji, Pulled Out a host of Stakeholders For A Walk For Life, In Appreciation Of The APGA’s Solution Ongoing Road Projects in Onitsha South Local Government Area. The Walk attracted many dignitaries including Government Appointees in the Council Area and from the sister local government, Onitsha North local government. Many citizens and residents of Onitsha South showered great encomiums on the APGA Soludo led Anambra State Government. 

* Anambra Governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has reassured that women will continue to play frontline roles in the development goals of the current administration in the state. Mrs Soludo stated this in a meeting with women groups and stakeholders across different social, cultural, political, public service, religious, and community divisions at the Governor’s Lodge, Awawbia. The meeting was to engage with the women on pertinent social issues and to interact with them ahead of the Christmas celebration.

* The Appeal Court sitting has dismissed the appeal brought before it by the House of Representatives candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chu Chu, Onyema, in Ogbaru Federal Constituency, Anambra state, against the victory of the Labour Party candidate, Afam Victor Ogene, whose victory had earlier been affirmed by the Election Petition Tribunal, in Awka, Anambra state. Justice M. I. Sirajo, who delivered the judgment said that the appeal by Hon. Onyema, lacked merit and therefore affirmed the earlier judgement of the Tribunal, which was delivered on Friday, October 20, 2023.

* The Vice-Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha has expressed her gratitude to God for her Son, Damian Omenugha who was successfully installed as acolyte. Professor Omenugha was accompanied by some of her aides, staff, students, and friends to the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity Onitsha, Anambra State where the installation ceremony took place.

In her brief interview with newsmen in Onitsha, Prof Omenugha, who is the immediate past Commissioner of Basic Education in Anambra State said, “I feel happy and joy. I am grateful to God. I pray that the good God who started the good work will take it.
