* The President General of Nnobi in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Barrister Dominic-Savio Okpala, has said that the town union and the entire community are not ready to accept further intimidation and oppression from the traditional institution of the community. (led by HRH Igwe Nick Obi.). Speaking to the press after an emergency general meeting, Barr. Okpala alleged that meddlesomeness of the traditional institution into the town union administration, which has been going on for a long time, is fuelling crisis in Nnobi, regretting that for showing restraint, members of the leadership of the town union are being pressed further to the wall.

* The Otuocha Stadium, Aguleri, Anambra East, was agog as Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the Local Government Area and State Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka launched the groundbreaking Inter-Ward Football competition for all the political wards in the Council Area. 

* The closing ceremony of the maiden Anambra Traders Sports Competition will hold on Friday December 8, 2023 with final and third place matches of the football event. ANN reports that Iron Dealers Market, Atani in Ogbaru Local Government Area (LGA) and Nkwo Umunze Market in Orumba South LGA will battle for the first and second places while Ajasa Market Onitsha will battle New Motor Spare Parts, Nnewi for the third place. The third place and final matches will hold by 10:am and 1:pm respectively at the Awka Township Stadium.

* Stakeholders in health and education sectors in Anambra State have promised to partner the state government to ensure that all laws and policies governing the sectors are effectively implemented to deliver intended benefits to the citizens. The people gave the assurance in Awka during a one day seminar on health and education laws organized by the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room in partnership with Justice Development and Peace Caritas (JDPC) Catholic Diocese of Nnewi.

* The Anambra State House of Assembly has expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done so far in some roads being constructed within Aguata Council area. ANN reports that the Chairman House Committee on Works and Infrastructure Honorable Emmanuel Nwafor told journalists shortly after they visited the roads that the contractors were working according to government specifications. According to Hon. Nwafor, who is also an Engineer, the drainage channel being constructed by Apogee Engineering Limited handling the construction of Uga-Nkpologwu road is very solid and no doubt will stand the test of time.

* The Chairman, Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, Awka, Prof Nkechi Ikediugwu has charged candidates sitting for the Computer Based Test, examination for teachers’ recruitment to take it seriously as only qualified candidates would be selected. Prof Ikediugwu gave the charge while addressing the candidates at the ongoing CBT recruitment examination at the IDK Centre in Awka. She reiterated that the essence of the examination being conducted by the directive of Governor Chukwuma Soludo was to fill the educational needs in the government schools.

* The member representing Anambra East constituency in Anambra state House of Assembly, Honourable Obi Nweke has condemned the recent communal clash between Nneyi Umueri and Enugwu Nsugbe communities both in Anambra East Local Government Area.

ANN reports that the communities who shared boundaries have fallen apart over perennial land dispute. The recent clash led to the death of two persons while some others sustained injuries, many houses and properties were also destroyed and set ablaze.

* Outgoing Chukwumemeka Odomegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) Vice Chancellor, Professor Greg Nwakoby, has assessed his five-year tenure with a sense of fulfillment, adding that he was happy that he was leaving the citadel of learning better than he met it.

ANN reports that the VC stated this during celebration to mark his five years in office/unveiling of the book titled “Greg Nwakoby, The Journey of a Legacy of Enduring Transformation 2018-2023”, held at the University’s auditorium. Nwakoby said that he held no grudges against anybody, pointing out that posterity would always judge everyone for the role he/she played while serving humanity.

* The recently-elected Executive and Working Committee members of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State has been officially inaugurated. Speaking at the event which held at the Anambra East Local Government Secretariat on Sunday; the APGA Chairman for Anambra East, Hon. Joseph Emeka Ekwealor, expressed profound gratitude to the attendees for their presence, emphasizing the significance of the occasion.
