* Legal practitioners have been advised to embrace and adapt to the opportunities provided by the advent of Artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance justice delivery if they want to be relevant in the modern world where science, ICT, AI and Robotics have come to stay.
The Chairman, Idemili North Local Government Area (INLGA) Chief Stanley Nkwoka encouraged legal practitioners as learned professionals to keep updating their knowledge in all spheres to enable them dispense and deliver justice efficiently and effectively.
Speaking at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Idemili Branch Law week which held at their Bar center, High Court Premises, Ogidi, INLGA, Anambra State, the NBA Idemili Branch Chairman, Mrs Chidi B. Nnaji Esq in her welcome address said that the theme “TechLaw: Navigating AI’s Impact on the Legal Profession” was necessary because AI technologies in the future will either empower a legal practitioner or replaces him or her.
* In a bid to improve access to primary healthcare and address structural and operational challenges, the Nwaeze Solution Team, under the guidance of the Mayor of Onitsha North, Hon. Tony Nwora, embarked on an extensive assessment tour of key health centres in the local government area. Â
The team, accompanied by the Supervisors for Health and Works, visited Emmanuel Health Centre, Ogboye Health Centre, Woliwo Health Centre, and St. Mary’s Health Centre.Â
The visits aimed to identify existing challenges and strategize on effective solutions to enhance healthcare delivery at the grassroots level. Â
At Ogboye Health Centre, the Health Supervisor commended Gov. Chukwuma Soludo’s transformative initiatives in the health sector, particularly those aimed at improving maternal health. Â
* The Chairman of Anambra East Local Government Area, Sir Ifeanyi Chinweze has called on the people of Anambra East to avoid communal clashes of any kind between communities in the area. He made the call during a visit to communities in the area.
Chinweze noted that peace and reconciliation was achieved through the help of peace committees who also has identified and delineated respective village boundaries.Â
The Mayor called on Mgboko and Umudiana to embrace peace and understanding which brings sacrifice of peace from both villages.
* Oba Community in Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State has elected Engineer Augustine Chiedu Emelobe as their Igwe, to occupy the vacant EzeOkpoko throne.
In his acceptance speech, Engr. Augustine Chiedu Emelobe thanked the electoral Committee, Oba Patriotic Union (OPU) Executive, people of Oba community for a successful election pledging to work together with other Igweship aspirants and everyone to bring peace and progress in the community.
“Today marks a new dawn in the history of Oba as a town. Oba people came together as one to exercise their right of choice through a transparent election and have chosen Engr Augustine Chiedu Emelobe as the EzeOkpoko II of Oba. I thank the OPU , Mayor Idemili South LGA, Hon. Amaka Obi and Governor Chukwuma Soludo. I thank all those who made this election a success’. Emelobe said
* Anambra Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam has visited the hospital where the victims of the tragic stampede that occurred on Saturday in Okija, Ihiala local government area, are receiving treatment and regrettably Stated that twenty-two people lost their lives.Â
The CP while commiserating with family and friends of the deceased, wishes the injured a quick recovery.
He maintained that the Police Command remains dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of Ndi Anambra on crime prevention, responding promptly and effectively to emergencies, Protecting vulnerable populations and Foster a sense of security and community.
Meanwhile, the investigation into the unfortunate incident is still ongoing.
* A political support group under the aegis of Soludo Ambassadors led by the convener, Hon. Ossy Onuko has distributed bags of rice to national working committee, women leaders, zonal chairmen, ward chairmen of the group, Awka South local government and ward executives of APGA in celebration of Christmas.
Speaking during the event, Hon. Onuko appreciated the executives for their resolute commitment, sincerity of purpose, and unwavering support to administration of Governor Charles Soludo CFR.
While highlighting the achievements of Governor Soludo, Hon. Onuko said that Charly Nwa Mgbafor remained the outstanding Governor in Nigeria.
* Governor Chukwuma Soludo says his administration will continue to place high premium on the health sector as Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Awka held its 2024 end of year appreciation day and award ceremony.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Ernest Ezeajughi, Governor Soludo noted that health sector is critical to the development of the state, adding that his government has done a lot to improve the hospital, including the ongoing construction of a trauma centre in the hospital which his administration has mapped out over N200 million to equip it.
The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Joe Akabuike noted that the event was organized to compensate some staff members who have distinguished themselves in their various departments and philanthropists who are helping the hospital to thrive in so many ways, commending Governor Soludo for his numerous interventions in the hospital.
* Anambra-born philanthropist and MD/CEO of the Walata Consults and Services Ltd., Hon. Stanley Nwabueze Okafor, has distributed over two thousand exercise books to various primary schools in parts of Nnewi South Local Government Area of the state.
Also distributed by the philanthropist were over two hundred school bags, for the benefit of needy school children in the area.
The handover of the donated items, which held at the Eziojukwu Primary School, Utuh, attracted the Headteachers of all the 31 government primary schools in the six communities that make up the Nnewi South I Constituency, whose schools are the beneficiaries of the gesture.
* A leading aspirant for Anambra South Senatorial bye-election under the platform of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Dr. Jude Emecheta has reiterated his commitment to ensuring that women in the senatorial district are given the much needed incentives and atmosphere to thrive and attain a new level of social status if supported to represent them in the Senate.
Dr. Emecheta, the National Chairman of Anambra Deserves Soludo (ADS), a political support group that contributed immensely to the victory of Governor Charles Soludo, said that women are not just home-builders but also community builders and they possess fantastic managerial and leadership qualities which if well harnessed, will be vital tools for nation-building.
He stated that he will ensure a holistic transformation of women welfare and advancement in the senatorial district if given an opportunity to serve the good people of Anambra South.
He promised to facilitate proper access to quality healthcare system, incorporate more women into the fold, empower them to be self-sufficient and also ensure they are well represented in the political cum leadership roles.
