# Elites, captains of industry, business moguls, traditional institutions, and other affluent personalities joined Governor Chukwuma Soludo at the official opening of the Anambra Country Club, Awka.

The club, which is a component of Awka Fun City, was conceived and birthed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo as part of his determination to make Anambra a livable and prosperous homeland for businesses and other investors to thrive, while also providing the Anambra elite with a refined space for recreation, networking, and wellness.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Soludo, who was accompanied by his wife, Dr. Nonye Soludo, said that Anambra, as the Light of the Nation, deserves such an edifice for relaxation, leisure, entertainment, and connections, lamented that some people occupy spaces only for building without creating places to rest, and announced plans to erect a similar facility in Onitsha by January so that the state will no longer be a departure lounge but a destination.

# Anambra State Government has constituted a caretaker committee for Emodi Shoe Dealers Association (ESDA) of Ochanja Market, Onitsha.

The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Trade and Markets, Chief Evarist Uba, inaugurated the committee at the Jerome Udoji State Secretariat, Awka, to oversee the union’s activities before a substantive election is conducted.

In his speech, Chief Uba congratulated the committee members and advised them to carry everyone along, emphasising that the Solution Government is committed to ensuring peace, discipline and harmony in all markets in the state.

Uba explained that the embargo on market elections will be lifted next year to pave way for an open, transparent and credible election that will bring in a new leadership, adding that the ministry is open to always work with them.

This outstanding performance underscores our strong commitment to the development of grassroots sports and the discovery and nurturing of young talents within the community.

The competition provided a valuable platform for our young, talented girls to showcase their skills, confidence, and teamwork on a grand stage.

# Lady Victoria Obianyo Foundation has rebuild the Nnobi Community Library attracted by a former House of Representatives member, Hon. Charles Odedo as a constituency project and commissioned in 2012

The library went into disuse over the years, but has been restore it to active use.

In his address, the President General of Nnobi Community, Mr. Dom Okpala, said the library had been dormant over the years and that his leadership, together with partners, was motivated to revive it for public use.

Okpala appealed to the state government to adopt the library and provide staff for its maximum use by Nnobi and neighbouring communities.

# In furtherance of the ongoing investigations on a Case of Criminal Conspiracy and Armed Robbery, Police Operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu have arrested five suspects and recovered two pump-action guns, five live cartridges, one ash coloured shuttle bus, face masks, plate number and other incriminating items at Ring Road, Nibo, Awka.

The suspects all males include: Solomon Saddah, Okolocha George Kaosisochukwu, John Obi Ogwaju, Chukwuemeka Chisom Ikenwa and Eze Obinna Joshua.

During interrogation, the suspects made useful statements admitting involvement in criminal activities, and revealed how they operate in a shuttle bus under the guise of vigilante personnel to commit havoc. They are currently cooperating with the Police and providing information that will assist in uncovering other criminal collaborators and networks.

# In a view to strengthen coordination and preparedness for the upcoming public health activities across communities and Local Government Areas (LGAs) for the Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign, the State Ministry of Health (SMOH) in collaboration with implementing Partners has inaugurated the Primary Healthcare Service Champions.

This was the crux of the events which took place at a one-day training/workshop held at the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Hall of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaku, Awka.

The workshop provided practical guidance, and equiped key Community Leaders with updated information on the MR campaign.

It also enhanced coordination to strengthen community mobilization efforts for increased coverage of the vaccination programme.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike in his usual spur to drum home the salient points of the exercise encouraged Community Leaders that prospective, capable and well known community members should be allowed to participate in the exercise. He explained that by doing so, other community members would be encouraged whilst trusting that the exercise is safe, friendly and effective.

# The Anambra State Government has observed with concern the circulation of videos on social media depicting a substandard and uninspiring Christmas decoration at a roundabout in the state, which has been wrongly attributed to the government and has sparked unwarranted criticisms.

In a press release signed by Commissioner for Information Anambra State, Dr. Law Mefor, and made available to Angel Network News (ANN) reads:

“We wish to categorically debunk these misleading narratives, dissociate the State Government from the controversial decoration, and set the record straight for the proper information of Ndi Anambra and the general public.

“Contrary to the false claims being propagated, the said decoration was not undertaken or sponsored by the Anambra State Government. It was the initiative of a private citizen in their community, executed without any involvement, approval, or endorsement from state authorities.

“Upon becoming aware of the installation and the public dissatisfaction it generated, the government promptly directed its removal to maintain the aesthetic standards and dignity of our public spaces. The decoration has since been dismantled, and we assure citizens that such unauthorised interventions will not be tolerated moving forward.

“The Soludo administration remains steadfast in its philosophy of fiscal prudence and responsible governance. The State has always under the leadership of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, intentionally adopted a strategic and cost-effective approach in public spending.

“During this festive season, we have focused our resources on adorning key locations that maximize visibility and impact, ensuring that taxpayer funds are not squandered on superficial frivolities.

“This deliberate strategy reflects our commitment to delivering value-driven governance that prioritises the welfare of our people over ostentatious displays.

“Thus, rather than indulging in wasteful expenditures, the Anambra State Government is delighting Ndi Anambra through the innovative, exciting ‘Onwa Dezemba’ package of events, a comprehensive festive programme launched on December 18, 2025, and running through January 4, 2026.

“This initiative features a diverse array of activities tailored to the interests and needs of various segments of society, including youth party, Christmas carol, children funfest, cultural performances, music concert, football match and family-oriented entertainment.

“These events foster unity, joy, and meaningful engagement, proving far more enriching in making Ndi Anambra and visitors alike enjoy the festive celebrations in Anambra State.
