* The Archbishop Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim says Christmas season is not the season to engage in cultism, kidnapping, terrorizing the community and poisoning people’s food and drink, rather a season to seek peace with God. Ibezim, stated this while delivering his Christmas message in Awka. The Archbishop said lots of people misunderstand the season by engaging in different forms of evils and sorcery, and causing havocs in their families and communities.
* The 2023 Hybrid International Conference of the Unizik Business School, UBS, has ended with a call on African leaders to strengthen democratic institutions to attain economic growth and development of Africa. The two-day conference was held at the ASUU/NAU Secretariat of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, with the theme: “Political Transition and Economic Development: The African Experience.”. A communique raised at the event emphasized the need for the existence of democratic institutions that are critical to the socioeconomic growth and political development of countries in the continent.
* Anambra assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Somto Udeze has called on Christians to emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ by extending unconditional love and support to one another. In his Christmas message, Udeze urged Nigerians to use the opportunity offered by the season to pray for those in leadership positions and seek God’s intervention in the affairs of the country especially the economic and security sectors as well as the general well being of the masses.
* As Christians join their counterparts all over the world to celebrate the 2023 Christmas celebration, Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Wing Worldwide has felicitated with those in the Southeast region, urging them to keep hope alive ahead of the New year, 2024. The Acting National Youth Leader of the group, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu in his Christmas message, stressed the need for Ndigbo to take advantage of the Christmas season to return home to build brotherly ove and oneness.
* Professor Chukwuma Soludo has described the Anambra State Burial Law 2019 as the only way to demonstrate decent burial for the dead.
Soludo stated this at St Theresa’s Catholic Church, Isuofia, Aguata Council Area during a thanksgiving mass to mark the end of the funeral activities of their late patriarch, late Pa Simeon Soludo. The Governor stressed that the only gesture deserving for the living is to give them a befitting life, rather than striving to give them befitting burial on demise.
* Operation Clean Healthy Anambra (OCHA Brigade), Onitsha Zone has scheduled 31st of December 2023 for commencement of training of more operatives for multiple tasks that lay ahead in the coming year. This was disclosed during the end of year get-together of Onitsha Zone of OCHA Brigade led by its Coordinator, Honourable Linus Ufoh. According to Ufoh, ”more successes were recorded by the group this passing year and needed to be sustained, especially in the areas of road decongestion, clearing of water drainage at both markets and other business premises all aimed at implementation of State Government programmes and policies.”

Governor Soludo in his Christmas message, stated that it is a season of love, light, and goodwill. ” On this blessed Christmas season, I pray for peace, joy, and abundance for each and every one of you. May the spirit of Christmas fill your homes with warmth, your hearts with love, and your lives with blessings beyond measure”. Soludo prayed
* As the election of Oba Patriotic Union (OPU) Executive gathers momentum, a group of Oba indigenes in Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State have passionately implored group or agencies connected to the conduct of the election to strictly adhere to the laid down and guidelines of the Constitution of Oba Patriotic Union (OPU).
The group under the aegis of Oba Global Initiative (OGI) as well called on all well-meaning people of Oba to resist any attempt to truncate the election which is billed to hold on December 31, 2023. They also said that any attempt to rig or manipulate the election could lead to a breakdown of law and order in Oba Community.
* MD/CEO of the defunct Anambra Newspapers and Printing Corporation, Sir Chuka Nnabuife, has declared that Anambra State does not need bad reportage and scaremongering in the media. Nnabuife who made this declaration at a news conference in Awka recently, said irrespective of pecuniary interests or sentimental attachments, journalists and media practitioners in general should not play politics with truth rather they should portray Anambra State as an investment destination with huge potentials and opportunities for investors.
