* Porsh Entertainment has organized a Cultural Symposium aimed at promoting Igbo culture and tradition with emphasis on the Nibo community. The event which took place at Nibo in Awka South local government area had in attendance youths, women groups, Nollywood actors and proponents of Igbo culture and tradition. It featured series of activities targeted at the promotion of Igbo language and culture including cultural music performance by Ofu Obi Cultural Group and dance by Umuada Nibo.

* Professor Obiora Okonkwo, the Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines, welcomed over 5,000 individuals from various communities in Idemili and neighboring local government areas to his residence in Ogidi. He celebrated Christmas by extending his generosity and bringing smiles to the faces of the less fortunate. As families gathered, they received gifts such as bags of rice, clothing, meat, cash, and other items. For many families, their joy and celebration of Christmas depend on Okonkwo’s annual acts of kindness.

* A Non-governmental Organisation, Women Arise for Change Initiative, has urged the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, and his wife, Nonye, to come to the rescue of an eight-month-old Chizeterem Ezenwata, battling a hole in her heart. The NGO also called on the state Commissioner for Women and Children Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo, public-spirited individuals, organisations and the wealthy to come to the rescue of the baby, whose parents had exhausted their finances trying to save the baby’s life.

* Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has splashed over N25 million to Team Anambra athletes who won medals during the 21st edition of the National Sports Festival (NSF) and 7th edition of the National Youth Games (NYG) both held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba, Delta State. Angel Network News reports that Chief of Staff to Anambra State Government Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, while presenting the cheques on in a reception held at the Alex Ekweme Square Awka for the athletes who featured at both games, commended them for being worthy ambassadors of the state by their representation, conduct and performance during the biennial sports festival and annual youth games.

* Anambra governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo, paid an unscheduled visit to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, NAUTH, Nnewi where she met with children and other patients taking treatments in different wards of the hospital. ANN reports that the visit, according to Mrs Soludo, was another way of reaching out to the needy, as part of her humanitarian works to humanity and God. At the hospital, the governor’s wife toured the children’s emergency ward, maternity ward and the intensive care unit where a veteran Nollywood star, Chief Amaechi Muonagor is currently receiving treatment.

* Anambra State Ministry of Housing recently appreciated some staff with multiple awards in both cash and gifts as a way of marking the end of the year and appreciating workers’ performance and contributions in 2023. The Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Pauly Onyeka while hosting the entire staff of the ministry at the Jerome Udorji Secretariat Building Complex, Awka, appreciated all the staff for dedication. ANN reports that Hon. Onyeka used the occasion to x-ray the activities of the ministry, especially at the new government house and lodge.

* A nongovernmental and not-for-profit organization, Dr John Onwuatuegwu Nneke Foundation has in the spirit of Christmas put smile on the faces of over 700 people under its care. The beneficiaries drawn from all the villages in Igbariam, Anambra East Local Government Area got bags of rice, tin tomatoes, cooking ingredients and cash as Christmas palliative.

* Traders at the grain seed market along Onitsha-Enugu expressway have moved to their new site, fruit and vegetable market Ogbaru following the directive of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

The exercise took place when a team of OCHA brigade sealed the entire market directing traders to move to the new site at Atani road, in Ogbaru Local Government Area. Angel Network News reports that the place was deserted as the entrance gates were under lock and key with security men and members of OCHA Brigade guarding the market to ensure sanity and compliance.

* Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Agency, Hon. Osita Onuko has urged government, relevant Agencies and well meaning ndi Anambra to harness human capital potentials in young people to shift their minds from drug abuse and other societal vices.
Onuko make this call on the occasion of the private award-giving ceremony by the ASATU Youth Wing, who marked their annual youth summit recently.
