* Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor has lauded the efforts of the Managing Director of ChinỄa Achebe International Cargo and Passenger Airport, Umueri, Martins Nwafor in the operations of the facility
Dr. Mefor made the commendation when he paid a working visit to the airport recently.
The Commissioner, who was received and conducted around the airport by Nwafor, stated that ndį» Anambra are lucky to have a diplomat and international aviator of repute to be in charge of the airport.
Mefor noted that 400,000 passengers in 7000 flights in three years without night flights is quite impressive and assured of the Soludo Government’s continued support of the facility, even as he announced Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s
plan to construct a VIP Lounge in the airport in a matter of weeks.
* The Anambra State Chapter of the Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN) recently hosted its 2024 Professional Summit and Investiture at Hilton Leisure Resort & Hotel, Awka.
The event, themed āThe Need for Government of Anambra State to Take Proactive Measures to Eradicate the Incidents of Building Collapses in the State,ā attracted a broad array of stakeholders from the building and construction sector, as well as government representatives and political leaders, all committed to transforming building practices in Anambra State and Nigeria.
The summit, addressing the ongoing issue of building collapses in Anambra, featured presentations from APBNās diverse professional membership, encompassing fields such as Building, Architecture, Engineering, Town Planning, and Surveying.
Key discussions underscored the importance of collaboration between government authorities and professional bodies to enhance the safety of structures across the state.
* Ā The administration of governor Charles Soludo has been described as a unique one that cannot be compared to other administrations in Anambra state.
The state commissioner for Housing, Hon. Pauly Onyeka stated this during a meeting with journalists in his office recently.
Onyeka said that Soludo is unique and intentional with his plans for the well being of Ndi Anambra through structured and dedicated governance delivery.
According to the commissioner, the Vision 2027 document by the Chairman of the committee as well as other documents that has to do with transition report has been put in place.
* Governor Chukwuma Soludo is commitment to making technology accessible to every child in the state, regardless of their economic background or ethnicity.
Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh made this declaration while delivering a paper titled “Creating the World of African Nations through Technology” at the Anambra Innovation Week 2024 symposium held at the International Conference Center (ICC), Awka.
Prof. Chuma-Udeh highlighted that Governor Soludo recognizes the transformative power of technology in driving national development. His administration is dedicated to equipping the younger generation with the necessary tools and knowledge to thrive in the digital age.
* The Anambra State Government, through the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade and Market, has inaugurated caretaker committee members for the Onitsha Scrap Dealers Association, Nkpikpa Chapter, located in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The inauguration ceremony, marked the official handover to the newly appointed committee members.
While speaking, the Secretary of the Board of Trustees (BOT) for the market, Mr. Chijioke Unegbu, commended traders for their patience in awaiting government action since they were unable to conduct elections after the tenure of the previous leadership expired due to a directive from the state government.
* The staff of Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, jubilate as they began receiving the seventy thousands naira minimum wage.
Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, (NUJ) Anambra State Council, Comrade Ngozi Obileri while speaking on the increment, praised Governor Chukwuma for paying the minimum wage.
Comrade Obileri, a staff of the establishment assured that the Labour unions in the station will deliver Governor Soludo in the next guber polls.
Other staff of ABS, Mr. Kenechukwu Chukwudi and Mrs. Eucharia Nwachukwu, acknowledged the hike in food stuff prices and family demands, saying that the increment alert will surely help take care of their need this yuletide.
* A delegation of Anambra State Government has visited the people of Abatete, in Idemili North Local Government Area, to commiserate with them over the November 18 attack on some vigilantes of the community by gunmen suspected to be enforcing the Monday sit-at-home.
The delegation was made up of the Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, AVM Ben Chiobi (Rtd).
Addressing the leadership of the town, the Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, who is not only an indigene of the town but a member of the Igwe-in-Council, consoled the people over the ugly incident and prayed for the quick recovery of the PG of the town, Chief Ezebinobi Chimame Ezigbo, who sustained a bullet injury during the attack.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, AVM Ben Chiobi, described the incident as one of the hazards of the job, adding that the government is working to ensure it never happens again.
* Governor Charles Soludo has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the advancement of Nwafor Orizu College of Education (NOCEN), Nsugbe, during an inspection tour of the institution.
The governor emphasized the need for innovation and collaboration, noting the importance of keeping pace with global advancements, including the rise of Artificial Intelligence and modern teaching tools.
Soludo declared NOCEN poised to achieve world-class status, with plans to elevate it to an autonomous, degree-awarding institution in the near future.
Highlighting key initiatives, Governor Soludo announced a significant increase in the school’s subvention starting January 2025.
* Renowned philanthropist and the founder of G.U.O motors, Sir. Godwin Okeke, has described as poor the attention towards the development of Persons With Disabilities (PWD) in the southeast.
Okeke intensified calls for increased education and support of the group to enable them unlock their potential to survive in the society.
He made the call at an annual get-together celebration organized by the youth wing of the Nigeria Association of the Blind (NAB), Anambra State Chapter.
* Leading Labour Party LP aspirant for the Anambra 2025 Governorship election, Mr. John Chuma Nwosu has given assurance of deploying hi-tech digital technology in addressing the security challenges plaguing Anambra State if elected into office.
Nwosu who spoke while addressing various stakeholders, ward excos and local government executives of the Labour party in Anambra Central in continuation of his local government consultative tour, noted that as an Information Communication Technology (ICT) expert, he will bring his contacts and experience in line with global best practices towards addressing security lapses currently ravaging the state.
