* Anambra State Police Command has launched an intensive manhunt for armed insurgents who infiltrated from a neighbouring State and killed two Police Personnel on 28th December 2023.
ANN gathered that the gang which disguised in military fatigue and seemed to be on a kidnap mission were jolted on seeing two armed Police officers approaching their direction. They opened fire on the officers who had moved ahead of the convoy they were escorting to decongest traffic gridlock. Other personnel returned fire, careful not to hit many motorists who were in traffic, forcing the bandits to flee.

* Anambra Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr. Tony-Collins Nawbunwanne has organized the 2023 Anam beach party for the residents of the town. Nawbunwanne hopes to make this a regular event and continue to bring the community together through fun and engaging activities. ANN reports that the event which took place at Okpu Ani Asa Beach Oroma-Etiti Anam featured various activities such as water games, and competitions.

* Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has commissioned a 86-room Dalobi Hotel in Eziowelle community, Idemili North Local Government Area. ANN reports that Governor Soludo also empowered five hundred indigent widows from the community assuring them that his government stands for them. Soludo praised the CEO of Dalobi Hotel, Chief Ikem Obi for heeding the call to invest in Anambra, aligning with the “Aku luo uno” spirit.

* The member representing Oyi/Ayamelum federal constituency Hon. Gwacham graced the special occasion of “Ogbunike Leaders of Thought” conference in her country home Ogbunike Oyi local government of Anambra state. In her address, the lawmaker reiterated her commitment to better the lives of her people hence, her quest to represent the good people of Oyi/Ayamelum federal constituency and advised all hands to be on deck to help actualize the big dream of a better society.

* A female passenger has been confirmed dead in an accident involving two vehicles opposite Ihembosi Junction, Okija along Owerri Road, Anambra State. The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, in Anambra State, Mr Adeoye Irelewuyi, confirmed the accident to newsmen in Awka. Irelewuyi said that the suspected cause of the accident was route violation and speeding.

* Chris Onyekwuluje, the contentious traditional leader of the Umunya community in the Oyi local government area of Anambra state, has passed away. He was sixty-one years old. The monarch, who was crowned 25 years ago, passed away in Abuja two days ago following a protracted illness due to cancer.

* The Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State house of assembly Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Pius Okoye on Friday December 29, lead his people of Awka South two Constituency round Amawbia on his sponsored fitness walk. Angel Network News reports that the fitness walk which took off from Central Primary School (Agu-Ogba) Amawbia witnessed a very large crowd as participants diligently observed the exercise. Rt. Hon. Okoye (Ozo Mkpuluobi Amawbia) while speaking emphasized the importance of exercise, stating that keeping fit is essential for good health.

* Anambra State Governor Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has commissioned 11km of newly constructed roads in Abatete, praising the community’s private sector initiative and calling on other citizens to follow suit. Angel Network News reports that the roads were built by “illustrious sons” of Abatete, showcasing the potential of Public Private Community Partnerships (PPCP) in infrastructural development. Governor Soludo while speaking highlighted the importance of such partnerships, stressing that limited resources require collaboration between government, individuals, and communities.

* Awka Capital Development Authority, ACTDA, has sealed off an illegal excavation site at Three Arms Zone, Awka, the Anambra state capital. The Managing Director of ACTDA, Mr. Ossy Onuko, who led the enforcement team, noted that the impact of the excavation on environment is enormous which makes it worrisome, adding that the approach will no longer be used to stop the the excavators. Onuko explained that in addition to other damages already done, including threats to electricity infrastructure, if the illegal excavation is allowed to persist, major roads in the capital city will be cut off because of selfish interests of a few individuals.

* Mrs Nonye Soludo has hailed individuals and organizations that are championing the leave-one-behind ideology of the present administration in the state. Mrs Soludo was speaking in Nnobi, Idemili South Local Government Area during the 2023 edition of the Ebuka Okafor Foundation’s Christmas Outreach.
Ebuka Okafor Foundation is a charitable organization that has been in existence for eleven years.
