* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has been honoured with an award of recognition for boosting Culture in Anambra State during the first National stakeholders review conference on the National Festival of Arts and Culture 2023. Anambra State Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism Comrade Don Onyenji announced this in Awka. The Commissioner also commended the Anambra State Cultural Troup for their outstanding performance during the event.

* The National Chairman, All Progressive Grand Alliance, Hon Barr Sly Ezeokenwa, has celebrated the festive season with vulnerable children living with sickle cell disorder, at his residence’s in Awka, Anambra State. Speaking at the event, Ezeokenwa, stressed that he is always touched by the plights of sickle cell persons, noted that the children are special children made and they are gifts from God, and that they should not be discriminated. He encourage the children to be attentive, well behaved, and take their learning very serious inorder to influence productivity in the future.

* Governor of Anambra state Professor Chukwuma Soludo has officially commissioned the Nibo Community Hospital Ltd. ANN reports that Soludo while praising the town’s citizens residing in the United States for their collaborative effort in funding and constructing the facility, reiterated his government’s commitment to the Public-Private-Community Partnership (PPCP) model. The Governor lauded the project as a prime example of “ndi Anambra” coming together to drive development, stating: “Nibo is a big town that does big things, and this hospital is a testament to that spirit.”

* Professor of industrial sociology relations at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Nkemdilim Nnoyelu says the overbearing interference of governments, its regulatory agencies or bodies on the autonomy of Universities is the first and most singular factor hampering the development of public university education system in Nigeria. Nnoyelu, stated this while delivering the lecture he titled: “From classroom teachers and researchers to union activists: The predicament of academics in Nigerian public Universities”.

* In an effort to create more awareness on planting and processing and production of palm oil as cash crop to ensure sufficiency and export, the Anambra State office, Nigerian Export Promotion Council, NEPC, has held a sensitization workshop for stakeholders. The Commissioner for Agriculture Anambra State, Dr. Forster Ihejiofor said that the state government is making sustained efforts to end poverty through agriculture with the distribution of oil palm and coconut seedlings and targeting households for them to tap into the large market of oil palm most especially. Ihejiofor commended the Nigerian Export Promotion Council for the important workshop aimed at enlightening Ndi Anambra on the opportunities inherent in the palm oil production and business for them to fully tap on it.

* The National Coordinator of All Progressives Grand Alliance( APGA) Media Warriors Forum, Chinedu Obigwe, has assured that the state governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, will conduct local government elections in the state but nobody should use that to blackmail him.
Obigwe was reacting to a report credited to the house of assembly member representing Awka South one, Hon Nigeria Mbachu , that the non-conduct of Local Government elections in the state was partly the cause of kidnapping and other violent crimes. Mbachu of the Labour Party (LP) had several times suggested the conduct of LG polls in the state as veritable means to create job opportunities for the teeming youth in the state.

* The Campaign for Democracy (CD) in Anambra State has called for the immediate transfer of the Commander of Onitsha Naval Post in Odoekpe, Ogbaru Local Government Area. The chairman of the rights group in the State, Comrade Ekene Nnadi, who made the call at a press briefing in Onitsha, flayed security operatives in the State for their extortionist tendencies.

He lamented that the Naval personnel mount permanent road block at Uga Junction and Iyiowa where they extort the people on the pretext that they provide security.

* Beneficiaries of the “One Youth, Two Skills” Solution Initiative of the Anambra State government who received seed grants to kick-off the various skills in the programme have been advised to utilize the fund given to them. Speaking in Awka, the Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili North Local Government Area, Honourable Chuksbrown Igboanua said that it is imperative to remind the beneficiaries that the money giving to them by the Anambra state government is not for merriment, rather it is meant to add value to their lives. Igboanua commended Governor Soludo for conceptualizing the idea of training and empowering five thousand youths in various skills in the state.
