* The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Anambra State Command, Comdt. Maku Olatunde, accompanied by Deputy Commandant General (DCG) Nnamdi Nwiyi has inspected progress of work on Area D, Command Headquarters building project at Nri in Anaocha LGA of Anambra State.

During the inspection, DCG Nwiyi on behalf of the Commandant General (CG) Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi expressed his admiration for the impressive progress of work, describing the project as a testament to effective leadership and purposeful impact of Commandant Maku in Anambra State.

While appreciating the leadership of Nri Progress Union led by Chief Dr. Anayo Okafor as well as the good people of Nri town for conceiving and putting up a befitting facility for the NSCDC, the DCG promised to work out modalities with the State Commandant that would avail the community adequate deployment of personnel to cope with the security demand of the community.

* Enugwu-Agidi Progressive Union, United States of America, EPU USA, has handed over the built and furnished new ward, as well as completed doctors’ quarters at the Health Centre and Maternity Enugwu-Agidi in Njikoka Local Government Area to Anambra State government.

The group also renovated about three existing buildings in the hospital.

Commissioning the projects on behalf of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike commended the group for keying into the Public Private Community Partnership, PPCP initiative of the present administration, saying that other communities should emulate them, as the government can not develop the state alone.

* Anambra Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam has ordered an immediate manhunt of the assailants who attacked Security Operatives and unarmed civilians in Ihiala.

The unfortunate attack resulted in the death of seven persons among which are two unarmed passers-by.

According to a press release by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, the Joint Security Team rescued one of the victims who is currently responding to treatment in a hospital.

The CP while on an on-the-spot assessment visit to the scene interviewed some eye witnesses of the incident. Information also had it that the armed men started shooting sporadically at a venue where preparations are ongoing for a burial ceremony slated for 2nd of January, 2025.

* The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, Maku Olatunde has assured Anambra citizens and residents that the NSCDC has taken proactive measures to ensure their safety and security during the new year celebration.

Commandant Maku stated this while on a familiarization visit to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer JEZCO Group, Chief Joseph Ezeokafor at his country home, Umuchi Ekwuluobia.

The Anambra NSCDC boss who was in Ekwuluobia, Aguata environs as part of his on the spot assessment of the deployment of human, material and operational resources, especially at identified strategic and vulnerable points across the state during the Yuletide told his host that after motivating and boasting the morale of personnel before deployment, he deemed it fit to move round the state to access their performance and fine – tune strategy and deployment strategy in order to be several miles ahead of those who are on the other side of the law.

 

* The  grandmother and matriarch of Attueyi family, Umuehim village, Utuh in Nnewi South Council Area, Dame Patricia Attueyi in the company of family members and friends, has offered special thanks to God at Saint Stephen’s Catholic church, for good health and blessing her with ten children who are all graduates and thirty grandchildren.

The celebrant, Dame Patricia in her remarks, wondered what she had done for the church, recalling the various ways the church has been of great help to her and her family over the years.

In their various remarks, some of the children, Mr Joseph Attueyi, Mrs Ngozi Attueyi -Udochukwu and Dr Chizor Malize recounted all their mother, widowed at forty-two .

* As part of moves to show appreciation and honor some staff every year, Anambra State Commissioner for Housing, Hon Pauly Onyeka, recently held an end of year meeting with staff of the Ministry of Housing, to thank them for their dedication and contributions in the infrastructural development policy of Mr Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo in Anambra State .

Speaking to the workers at the Jerome Udorji State Secretariat Complex, Awka, recently, Commissioner Onyeka appreciated the workers for their immense contributions towards the efforts and making the ministry relevant in the state, especially in the transformation of the state.

He enjoined them to double their efforts next year as more projects would be initiated by the State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, who is desirous to transform the state and make it a livable, smart, mega, prosperous city.

Hon Onyeka said that apart from observing the annual rites, sometimes such gatherings help to foster strong relationship among workers through the communion of eating together and sharing things in common, which he, for over 20 years, has demonstrated in the society .

 

* The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Anambra State, Prof. Sylvia Ifemeje has urged the Heads of Departments in her ministry to have a zero tolerance to acts of irresponsibility.

She said this while addressing a management meeting held at the conference hall of the ministry.

While speaking, Prof. Ifemeje, enjoined them to work with conscience, discharging their duties with full commitment and fear of God at any of their duty areas.

The Attorney General emphasized on the application of disciplinary measures to check laxity and disobedience. She appreciated these Heads of Departments in their efforts to build a formidable Justice ministry and prayed that they continue in that zeal in the coming year.

* Over 1000 residents of Nri in Anaocha Local Government Area and its environs have benefited from the maiden edition of the Nwabueze Oli Free Medical Outreach programme.

Residents received free medical checks and medicines at the community centre where medical doctors and other health professionals offered them healthcare services.

Beneficiaries of the programme include the elderly, youths, and women.

The sponsor of the medical outreach, Mr. Nwabueze Oli, a UK based Realtor, said the outreach was to ensure his people are healthy and receive easy access to quality medical care at affordable rate, especially to assist the poor and less-privileged.

* Spiritual Director of Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, Anambra State, Rev Fr. Emmanuel Obimma popularly known as Father Ebube Muonso has said that security in Anambra has broken irretrievably.

Obimma said this while presenting a priest simply identified as Rev Fr Nonso to his congregation, after his release from kidnappers den, a week after he was abducted and taken into the forrest by gunmen.

Fr. Nonso from Ojoto was kidnapped on December 17 2024 in Anambra State, shortly after his return for the Christmas holiday from overseas where he was studying.

The priest said that what was shocking was that for the one week the kidnapped priest was in custody, he phone line remained open and the kidnappers never bothered to put is off or even dispose it, knowing that they could be tracked through it.

* Ifite Ogbeadiji Ebenesi Nnobi in Idemili South Council Area went agog at her maiden carnival.

The event which drew illustrious sons and daughters of the area and showcased the rich cultural heritage of Ndi Nnobi, was held at St Theresa’s field, Nnobi.

It was facilitated by a stakeholder of the community, Chief Hamilton Ezeonu, and wife, Dr Thelma.

In his remarks, Governor Chukwuma Soludo represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Ernest Ezeajughi said making Anambra a cultural and tourism capital is core to his administration’s policy thrust which is why the state government has invested heavily in the construction of the Solution Fun City, Agulu Lake Resort, remodeling of Ogbunike Cave, among others.
