# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has signed Anambra 2026 Appropriation bill into law.

The signing of the law followed the passage of the bill by the State House of Assembly.

‎The state’s budget was increased from #757 billion to 766 billion naira by the House of Assembly which is aimed to drive economic growth, infrastructure development, and programmes in the State.

Speaking after signing the bills into law,
‎Governor Soludo described the 2026
appropriation law as a strategic plan focused on delivering his administration’s promises and prioritizing the people’s needs.

‎Soludo also signed three other key bills including the Anambra Mission School of Nursing and Midwiferyno.3) law, 2025, Tax Clearance Certificate Law, 2025, and Anambra State Correctional Service Law, 2025.

‎The governor commended the Speaker of the 8th Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze and the entire Anambra
lawmakers for their diligence and collaboration, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance.

# Anambra government has expressed concerns over the unregulated and frudelent activities of the real estate developers and agents in the State.

The Commissioner for Housing Anambra State, Hon Pauly Onyeka raised the serious concern when the Executives of Awka Estate Agent Association paid him a courtesy visit at his Jerome Udorji Secretariat office complex Awka

The Commissioner while condemning the
frudelent activities maintained that the
Ministry of Housing is set to create an enforcement team that would checkmate their operations in the State.

According to Onyeka, several developers acquire lands from communities only to resell at exorbitant prices without fulfilling their financial obligations to the original landonwers

# The Anambra State Police Command has issued a security advisory to communities across the State scheduled to conduct their respective town union elections during the Yelutide period.

In view of this, the Police warn mischief makers, troublemakers, and individuals with criminal intentions to stay away from all election venues and desist from acts capable of causing tension, violence, or breakdown of law and order in any community.

In a press statement issued by Anambra
Police Command spokesman, SP. Tochukwu Ikenga, it further urges community members, candidates, supporters, and all interested parties to exercise restraint, respect constituted authorities, and refrain from taking the law into their own hands before, during, and after the elections.

“Disputes or grievances arising from the process should be channeled through lawful and established mechanisms.

The Command recognizes that town union elections are vital community activities that contribute to grassroots leadership and development. However, it emphasizes that such exercises must be conducted peacefully, orderly, and strictly in line with existing laws, guidelines, and decisions of constituted authorities.

“To ensure the safety of lives and property, the Police, in collaboration with other security agencies, will deploy adequate personnel and resources to strategic locations across affected communities.

“Any person or group found engaging in violence, intimidation, unlawful assembly, or other criminal activities will be arrested and dealt with in accordance with the law.

“Also, Traditional rulers, town union executives, elders, youth leaders, and stakeholders are encouraged to work closely with security agencies to promote peace and ensure the successful conduct of the elections.

“The Anambra State Police Command reassures residents of its commitment to maintaining peace, public safety, and security throughout the Yelutide season and beyond, and calls on all citizens to cooperate with security agencies in the collective effort to keep Anambra State safe and peaceful” Ikenga noted.

The atmosphere at the health center was one of hope, relief, and gratitude as beneficiaries received timely medical attention without financial burden.

# The 62nd Ofala Festival and the 100th birthday celebration of the traditional ruler of Nnewi, His Royal Highness, Igwe Dr. Kenneth Orizu III have continued to attract prominent sons and daughters of the ancient kingdom.

Among those who paid homage to the revered monarch is the Chief Executive Officer of Reapfold Properties Limited and former member of the Anambra State House of Assembly representing Nnewi North Hon. Dr. Nonso Smart Okafor.

Dr. Nonso Okafor who was at Igwe Nnewi Palace, felicitated with the monarch and commended his exceptional leadership, describing Igwe Kenneth Orizu III as a critical stabilizing force whose reign has provided the foundation for peace, unity, and sustainable development in Nnewi

According to him, the socio-political harmony enjoyed in Nnewi is largely a product of the monarch’s inclusive leadership style, which has ensured cohesion among the various quarters of the town and created an enabling environment for governance, enterprise, and grassroots development.

He revealed that during his time in public office, especially in Anambra State House of Assembly, Igwe Nnewi remained a source of wise counsel and encouragement whose guidance also reinforced his commitment to service, accountability, and the collective interest of Nnewi people.

The former lawmaker also used the opportunity to commend Chief Dr. Cletus Ibeto (Omekannaya) for giving the palace a face-lift and all those contributed towards the success of the ofala festival.

He concluded by reaffirming his loyalty to the throne, adding that reaching the age of 100 years and celebrating his 62nd Ofala festival underscores the monarch’s enduring relevance, describing Igwe Orizu III as one of Africa’s longest-reigning and most respected traditional rulers.

# Senator Tony Nwoye has continued with Anambra North Senatorial Town Hall meeting with stakeholders and Constituents from Oyi and Ogbaru LGA, reaffirming his commitment to transparent, accountable, and inclusive governance across party lines.

The meeting at the Grassroot level provided an open platform for dialogue, where the Senator briefed stakeholders, Constituents, Party Faithfuls across Party lines, Religious Leaders on his legislative activities, bills sponsored, and projects attracted to the district.

In Oyi LGA, Nwoye who was accommpained by Chief Uchenna Okafor listed the projects he has facilitated
which includes Road Constructions in Nkwelle Ezunaka, One completed, while one is still one going, Construction of Primary Healthcare Centre in Nteje, Building of House for an Indigent Widow in Ogbunike and installation of Solar Street lights in some selected Communities and announced proposed road construction in many communities alongside plans for empowerment in agriculture, education, and business beginning in 2026.

In Ogbaru LGA, Nwoye and Member Representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency, Hon Afam Ogene, addressed the Stakeholders, Constituents, Party Leaders across Party Lines and Religious Leaders.

He listed projects facilitated in Ogbaru which includes Road Construction in Okpoko, reconstruction of Primary School in Okpoko, Construction of Youth and Hall Centre in Odekpe, Construction of borehole in East Niger, Construction of Market Stalls in East Niger and Installation of over 600 poles of Solar Streetlights in Okpoko and Iyiowa axis.

Senator Dr Tony and Hon Afam Ogene Promised to do more projects for the people of Ogbaru.

# The outreach by the President and Founder of ENAF, Engr. Nnamdi Anyamene, has continued to draw commendation from stakeholders and beneficiaries across the constituency.

Speaking during a media interaction, Dr. Chinekwu Anyaoku described the ENAF free medical outreach as a fantastic and timely intervention, especially considering the rising cost of healthcare and the difficulty many grassroots dwellers face in accessing quality medical services.

During the engagement the revered medical practitioner, in an insightful media chat on the ongoing Eric Nnamdi Anyamene Foundation (ENAF) Free Medical Outreach in Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, said the
initiative has brought hope and relief to countless families who ordinarily would not afford basic medical attention.

# The Mayor of Idemili South LGA, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has congratulated High Chief Hamilton Ezeonu on the well-deserved chieftaincy title of *Ikemba Idemili, conferred by the 17 traditional rulers of Idemili North and South in recognition of his visible community service and unwavering passion for societal development.

The Mayor in a congratulatory message maintained that the prestigious honour reflects Ezeonu’s selfless contributions, leadership, and commitment to the progress and unity of Idemili land.

“May this title further inspire you to continue impacting lives, strengthening communities, and promoting sustainable development for the benefit of present and future generations”. Obi prayed.

# Members of the ODU Health and Longevity Committee were present at Model Primary Health Care (PHC) Afoadike, Obosi, supported and monitored the two-day free medical outreach organized by the Eric Nnamdi Anyamene Foundation (ENAF).

The medical outreach was designed to bring essential health services closer to the people of Obosi and idemili, particularly the underserved and vulnerable members of the community. From medical consultations to basic health screenings, the exercise reflected ENAF’s unwavering dedication to improving the well-being and longevity of the people.

During the outreach, members of the committee expressed deep satisfaction with the level of organization, professionalism, and compassion displayed by the medical team and volunteers on ground.
