* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has said that the state legislature has since passed the Disability Rights Bill to integrate persons with disability into full activities in the state and improve their wellbeing. The Speaker, who commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for accommodating people with disability in his government, enjoined well-meaning citizens. to commit part of their wealth to address the challenges facing people with disability in their localities.

* The Chairman, Anambra State Universal Basic Education, Dr Vera Nwadinobi says the ongoing Computer-Based -Test, CBT, recruitment examination is all geared towards achieving the Smart-School initiative of Governor Chukwuma Soludo. She stated this while fielding questions from journalists at the venue of the ongoing CBT recruitment examination in Awka. She explained that the CBT examination is not only testing the ability of the applicants as teachers but also testing their digital capacities, adding that any applicant who do not know how to operate the computer will definitely fail.

* Anambra State has continued with its winning streak in educational competitiveness, as one of its indigenes has been declared the best candidate in the category of visually impaired students in Nigeria in the 2022 Senior Secondary School Certificate examination conducted by the West African Examinations Council. Miss Precious Nzube Mbajiorgu, who wrote the examination at St John of God Secondary School in Awka, has just been rewarded by the WAEC Nigerian headquarters office in Abuja for her academic excellence despite being physically challenged. She performed brilliantly in the nine subjects she wrote.

* The bill to amend the Act of the Niger-Delta Development Commission, to enable the inclusion of Anambra among the list of oil producing states scaled first reading at the Senate. The proposed enactment sponsored by Anambra North Senator, Dr.Tony Nwoye is aimed at amending Section 2 (1) (b) of the NDDC Establishment ACT CAP N 86 LFN 2004 which would enable the commission to enlist the South-Eastern State among its list of oil producing states. Mr. Paschal Candle, the media aide to Senator Nwoye, who disclosed this in a statement, said two years ago the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) granted its approval for Anambra to join the list of oil producing state.

* National Coordinator of APGA Media Warriors Forum, Chinedu Obigwe, has accused the Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of invasion of people’s privacy in connivance with mobile network providers. Condemning Ubah’s act, Obigwe said, “It is now obvious that Ifeanyi Ubah’s desperation to be governor is alarming. Obigwe stated this in a statement he circulated to the press.

* Anambra Commissioner for education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma Udeh says all the secondary schools in the state will be upgraded to technology institutions. Speaking during the 2024 budget defense before the Anambra assembly committee on Finance and Appropration chaired by Hon. Ejike Okechukwu and committee on education chaired by Hon. Anayo Okpalaeke. The commissioner stated that smart school entails lifting every school to highly technology school.

* Anambra State Association of Town Unions, has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his think home philosophy which has continued to drew the attention of Ndi Anambra to invest in the state. This commendation came through the National President of the Union, Barrister Titus Akpudo while praising the recent commissioning of meter manufacturing company at Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area. Akpudo commended the contribution of the owner of the company to the state’s economic landscape which brought to the fore the security architecture Professor Soludo has put in place to ensure safety of life and property of Ndi Anambra.

* The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Political Matters, Dr. Alex Obiogbolu has dismissed as nonsensical the reports in some unscrupulous online outlets that the bags of rice sent to Anambra State as palliatives by the Federal Government are being re-bagged. He pointedly stresses that the Federal Government sent N2 billion for the procurement of palliatives which of course raises the question: How can the state government re-bag rice that was not sent in the first instance in bags? According to Dr. Obiogbolu, “when people throw tantrums at you, it’s not every tantrum that you respond to.”

* Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Budget has directed the key officials of the Ministry of Justice to break down all they intend to achieve in 2024 fiscal year for easy tracking. The committee gave the directive when the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Anambra State, Prof. Chika Ifemeje appeared before the committee at Anambra State House of Assembly complex to defend their 2024 budget estimate.
