* It was a moment of celebration like no other, for Rev Fr Dr Cosmas Maduakonam Ekwutosi, his relations, associates, friends and well-wishers, as they joined him to celebrate his 40th Priestly Anniversary.

The event, which took place at St John’s Parish, Agulu, in Anaocha LGA, was graced by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev  Paulinus Ezeokafor, represented by the Dean, Agulu Deanery, Rev Fr Hyacinth Anaekee; Catholic priests and religious.

In his homily Rev Fr Dr Aloysius Ezeanolue of St Mary’s Parish, Awgbu, described Rev Fr Ekwutosi as a hardworking, humble and caring priest.

He further described Fr Ekwutosi as a moralist and astute administrator who did not compromise on his faith in God and Catholic doctrine.

 

* The Anambra State Police Command within two weeks in a separate onslaught operations against criminal elements in the State wishes to inform members of the public especially ndi Anambra of the following recovered vehicles in the Command. They include:

TOYOTA COROLLA CAR (RED COLOUR) WITH REG. NO. ENUGU – AGN 409 AA.
UNREGISTERED LEXUS ES 350 (ASH COLOUR)

MITSUBISHI HILUX (BLUE COLOUR) WITH REG NO: GDD 440 TJ. LEXUS ES 330 CAR (ASH COLOUR) WITH REG NO: ACA 551 MA and TOYOTA HIGHLANDER JEEP (GREY COLOUR) WITH REG NO: SMK 544 GP

Anambra State Command, the Command invites anyone or group looking for any of the vehicles as highlighted above, to come to the office of the Police Public Relations Office Awka with valid Proof/Evidence of Ownership of such vehicles for verification and possible collection, please.

* As a way of showing appreciation for his reinstatement, which, he described as divine, the Acting Vice Chancellor of Unizik, Prof Joseph Ikechebelu, has vowed to pursue vigorously, the Renewed Hope Agenda of Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu

Addressing newsmen in his office during his maiden press conference, Ikechebelu said his immediate task as acting Vice-Chancellor would be to douse the tension arising from what he described as opprobrious malfeasance and return the University to normalcy, with a mind frame that the entire saga had ended with no victor, no vanquished.

“I therefore, solicit the cooperation of all concerned, to enthrone in the University, an ambient environment that would be conducive to a hitch-free, rancour-free”.

* The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has extended warm congratulations to Mr. Mark Okoye on his appointment as the Managing Director/CEO of the Southeast Development Commission by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In his congratulatory message signed by
Mr. Frank Osakwe, Special Assistant to the Speaker on New Media, Udeze commended Okoye for his exceptional contributions to Anambra State and the Southeast region, noting his visible impact during his tenure at the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA).

The Speaker also highlighted Okoye’s memorable role during the Ogbaru Economic Summit, where his insights into the region’s potential and his commitment to development inspired many.

Describing the appointment as a “well-deserved recognition,” Udeze expressed confidence in Mr. Okoye’s ability to bring transformative progress to the Southeast.

* Police Operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad Enugu-Ukwu acting on credible information on Friday arrested one Miracle Mwakalor 18 years from Umubele village, Awka-South Local Government Area and recovered one AK47 Rifle and one magazine.

According to a press release by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, the Operatives burst the Criminal gang in their den during an evil debrief on how they want to commit havoc in Nibo, Awka South Local Government today.

“Miracle was apprehended but his other gang members escaped. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and led the Operatives to an apartment at Ubuofu Awka, where they hid the recovered rifle in the roof.

Efforts are already emplaced to apprehend other fleeing gang members.

* A Catholic Cleric, Rev Fr Valentine Ezenduka, has appealed to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, to emulate a former Governor of the state, Mr Peter Obi, for every Anambra Child to have a fair share in Soludo’s performance in Education Sector.

Rev Fr Ezenduka, who is the Manager, St Anthony’s Catholic Comprehensive Institute, Agulu, in Anaocha Local Government Area of the state, made the appeal while having a chat with newsmen in the area recently.

Fr Ezenduka said, ‘Peter Obi showed us what it means to be a governor for both public schools and mission schools.

‘For instance, one of the buses we make use of today, is courtesy of Peter Obi; the generator set we make use of today, is courtesy of Peter Obi; and some of the computers in our computer laboratory are courtesy of Peter Obi.

* The Anambra State Police Command have in custody one Nwokpoku Emmanuel (M) aged 34 years from Ebonyi State living in Oduke-Obosi over a case of Armed robbery and kidnapping.

The operatives also recovered from the suspect, the victim’s red coloured Mercedes Benz GLE 450 and activates plan to arrest other gang members, especially the leader known as Ebuka.

Anambra State Command, the victim was kidnapped in a neighbouring State and was later released after a ransom of Fifteen Million Naira (N15m) was collected.

The abductors made away with his vehicle before it was tracked and recovered at MCC Junction, Onitsha.

* The Traditional Ruler of Awa community in Orumba North LGA, Igwe Israel Okeke Ezue, has stated that his kingdom will massively vote for Governor Chukwuma Soludo in his bid for a second term in office.

Igwe Israel Okeke Ezue, who spoke to journalists during a monitoring tour of Governor Soludo’s infrastructural strides in the state, said Soludo does not need further campaigning to earn their votes.

According to him, Soludo has etched his name in gold and in the hearts of the Awa people for constructing the Awa road.

* The Anambra state government is set to invest N13 billion in the establishment of 22 Smart Schools aimed at transforming the youths in the area into professionals for export.

This initiative comes as the Anambra Patriots for Soludo (APS) launched sensitization Programme for the 179 communities through their President Generals (PGs) in the area.

The APS is also conducting sensitization Programme for the leadership of 340 market associations across the three Senatorial Districts of the state.

* The Anambra State Police Command has reiterated its ban on the use of fireworks, knockouts, and other explosives during the Christmas festivities in the state.

According to Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga, the ban is still in force due to the dangers associated with the use of these explosives, especially during the harmattan period.

The police command warned that the use of knockouts and fireworks can cause unnecessary fear, apprehension, and disturbances to public peace and safety.
