* Anambra State Government has concluded a one-week training for staff members of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade. The training is in furtherance of the quest by Governor Chukwuma Soludo to promote law and order in the state by continuously improving the quality of personnel in the various law enforcement agencies.

* The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Anambra Command has mourn the passing of one of Assistant Commandant General Helen Omavuayen Amakiri PhD. Born in 1966, the Late Hellen Imuavuayen Amakiri was a native of Southern Ijaw LGA in Bayelsa State. 

Angel Network News reports that SC Okadigbo Edwin, Public Relations Officer NSCDC Anambra State Command, in a condolence message on behalf of the State Commandant, Comdt. Maku Olatunde, Officers, express deepest sympathy and condolences to the Commandant General of NSCDC on the untimely death of Ag. DCG CNAI Helen Amakiri. 

* A law to prohabit trafficking In persons, enforce and administer measure against trafficking and for related matters has been read for the third time and passed into law at the Anambra State House of Assembly. The lawmakers after consideration of report of the joint committee on Judiciary chaired by Hon. Patrick Okafor (Onitsha North 2) and committee on Women and Social Welfare, chaired by Hon. Nkechi Ogbuefi (Anaocha one) on “Trafficking In Persons, (Prohabition) Enforcement And Administration Bill 2023”, adopted it as a working document.

Sponsor of the bill Hon. Patrick Okafor said the objective of the law is to provide effective and comprehensive legal and institutional framework for the prohibition and prevention, detention, persecution and punishment of human trafficking in Anambra state.

* The member representing Ihiala one constituency at the Anambra state house of assembly and Chief Whip Hon. Jude Ngobili has presented the report of the committee on IGR on ‘Revenue Administration (Consolidation and Harmonizing) Bill 2024’ at plenary.

* The Anambra State Government has expressed its regret and apology for the error of initially referring to the recently rescued Tanya Okpala as Jacqueline Okwueze. Angel Network News recalled that a few days ago, Tanya Okpala, the former Nigerian tennis champion, who was seen on the street of Awka, was widely referred to as Jacqueline Okwueze across various social media platforms. Following public outcry to the Anambra State Government to come to her aid, she was traced and taken into custody for proper care by the State government 

* The Anambra State Ministry of Local Government Chieftaincy and Community Affairs has issued letters of recognition to the 34 recently elected President Generals of communities where successful elections took place during the Christmas and New Year Season. Mr. Commissioner,  Tonycollins Nwabunwanne, assisted by the Commissioner for finance and the Special Advisor to the Governor on Political matters, congratulated the newly elected and returning PGs. He emphasized the importance of avoiding distractions, particularly in the realm of politics.

* The National Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, has been distinguished with the prestigious Great Achievers initiative Award for Youth and Community Development (GAIYD). The Great Achievers Initiative is a non-profit organization that champions the cause of youth and community development. It particularly emphasizes the empowerment of the male child, advocating for educational and societal support structures that enable them to reach their full potential.

* The member representing Njikoka one constituency at the Anambra state house of assembly Hon. Chidiebere Ibemeka at plenary presented presented the report of the joint committee on Petroleum and Minaral resources and Committee on environment on Anambra State oil producing areas development commission (ANSOPADEC) Bill 2024′

* The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has congratulated Dr. Engr. Ikenna Uba on his new role as the Deputy Director, Public Private Partnership by Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Obi in a congratulatory message describe Dr. Engr. Ikenna Uba’s promotion as an inspiration to all who wished to grow in the field, stating that his discipline, knowledge, skills and indeed his very much essence have garnered him promotion. She prayed for more wisdom and strength upon him to continue his service to the people.

* A bill for a law to ensure the safty, health and welfare of factory workers and all persons lawfully present at factories and for other connected purposes have been read for the second time by the Anambra State House of Assembly. Sponsor of the bill Hon. Golden Chukwuebuka Iloh while leading the debate said the bill seek to ensure that workers in different factories in Anambra State is provided with safty kit.
